I ordered these for a particular spot in the kitchen where the mounting point isn’t directly above the counter top. It has to be in between a ceiling fan and a free standing range hood but shine on the island counter surrounding the range. Then, having gotten these in hand, I discovered that these lamps can only be controlled with a smart phone app or an extra cost purpose built remote control. There are no switches on the side of the control box like lesser models. That was for me, if not a show stopper, at least a show postpone’r. Maybe one of these days when I get motivated I’ll fork over the extra bucks about thirtyish or so for the remote. My advice is: if you don’t want to be tethered to a phone app for lighting, or you have security concerns about it, to get a model package which does come with the remote.

This was a replacement set and so far I have no complaints. They stand behind their products and will work to make sure you are satisfied with their products.

2 key issues prevent this item from being great
The good:- Lights connect easily to the Lumary app- The lights themselves seem pretty good.The bad:- I could not get even close to figuring out how to set up automations in the app, for example, ‘turn on master bath lights 1 and 3, set to color red’. I’m sure there’s a way but I suspect I’d have to go to a class for a week. And I am a tech savvy user. Contrast this to the Google Home app, very easy.The ugly:- The clips that hold the gimbal light in the ceiling break very easily. Ridiculously easy. I have returned two full sets on this issue. This is why I am giving two stars. It’s just dumb that you have these expensive lights and a clip that feels like it cost 15 cents.- Two of the eight lights that I tried (including returns) would not power up. That’s not a favorable percentage.

I’m a fan of the Tuya / Smart Life platform and have put together tuya networks in two houses so far. So if you’re new to the smart light side of this — these are the products you want. Tuya products from any number of manufacturers all work together on the same app platform. But be aware it is a burgeoning technology, and it will flake on you occasionally. And it can be something of a wild west, or wild east as it were, with a lot of the products coming from XYZABC brands from overseas.That said, Lumary has been establishing itself as one of the better and more consistent brands. I’ve used a number of their products now, and they’re almost always five-stars. (The “almost” was only because I really did not like their mounting hardware on their ceiling-can-retrofit lights. The tech was still solid.)I’ve used basically these same lights but without the gimbal feature, loved them and found them rock solid. This product adding the gimbal feature takes it to another level. The gimbal does of course work well, as expected. No problem at all adjusting the light into just the right position.Installation is a snap, and the included junction boxes are of good quality.If you need canless can-style tuya lights, I think Lumary is probably the brand to get, and if you need them with a gimbal, then obviously this is the particular product you want.
