Works well with other LaView cameras
My initial review indicated that the cameras only work in 2.4 GHz thatâs still accurate, but I called my Internet company and apparently almost all routers do both strengths so it was super easy to set up after that point.I could never get it set up through wired ethernet, I had to use the AP mode, but so far itâs working and itâs been up for a couple hours.Appreciate the company reaching out to offer help. After i managed to get everything set up, which maybe took about a half hour, then I saw the cameras pop right up into my current app along with my other cameras I purchased a few years ago.

Terrible customer service and product support
I liked the product until I was prompted for a firmware upgrade. After attempting to do so, the camera went off line and remained in a firmware upgrade in progress status for over two weeks. During this time I attempted to contact product support, with no contact beyond automated messages stating to visit the support site for chat, or to leave a message or email. None of the associated icons workedâcould not get anyone to live chat or leave a message, or emailâthe icons did not work. I then logged in my account and the chat started with what appeared to be a bot that left me hanging and was a complete waist of time. I was able to look up an email address and sent an email with all my contact info and a design the problem. Days later I got an email saying to provide contact info (which I already had) and that so would contact me. I reluctantly provided the info again and never heard back. I attempted chat and email again with no avail. I was simply referred back to the support icons to start the process all over again.Camera system worked okay until the firmware upgrade prompt; although the resolution was not greatâcanât recognize faces, but battery like was good and the system was inexpensive. Regardless I do not recommend due to the poor technical support system.

Great for wireless
These cameras are nice. I have indoor laview cameras and I liked them so much I thought I would give them a try. I like the idea of the base incase they get stolen. But with the tamper proof alarm it would be crazy for someone to touch them. I have already set it off on accident when moving them and its loud. We set these outside to watch some new kittens in our back yard. The picture quality is great even at night. It has wide dynamic range option that helps with different lighting. But day or night I could see clear. The motion detection did not pick up animals when the human body filter is on which is nice so im not annoyed by notifications. The laview indoor cameras all have ONVIF function but these outdoor ones do not. Which is understandable since it would drain the battery. I just wish we had that option since you can easily buy a solar charger for these. I have had them out for about 4 weeks and one is at 100% the other is at 80% only because we kept watching for the kitties. So I am happy with the battery life so far. The range on the base says 300ft but that will be effected by walls and other things. So keep that in mind. All in all a great camera for the price.

Good item but must be connected to Internet
I was hoping to install at a remote property which does not have Internet access unless my phone is present to teather as a Wireless Access Point to the Internet. Worked great, until I removed my phone from the premises. In this case, the cameras would no longer communicate with the M1 base unit , despite it having its own wireless communication to its own cameras. Once the internet WAP was restored, none of the Camera events that should have been recorded (cameras sensed motion during internet outage), were able to be fetched by the LaView App. But recording of events continued while the Internet was present. Seller maintains that the Cameras will store alerts and after 6 minutes of no internet activity, forward them to the M1 Base unit. I was not able to see signs of such behavior after leaving the unit without Internet overnight and there was plenty of action to cause many events.

Great for the price
Pros -Easy setup, good picture quality, low light/no light quality is also good. The app is fairly intuitive and the image capture adjustments are handy. I have one camera set up facing a busy street and I don’t have to get a notice every time a car goes by.Cons -The micro SD slot doesn’t lock in the card. Or maybe I’m doing something wrong? It won’t lock in like I would expect, when you push it in it doesn’t have resistance like a spring loaded locking system. I had to gently slide it to make contact and when I need to take it out I have to use a pointy object (toothpick or something like that).

Works about 25% of the time
The camera works only when it wants to. Multiple times I will walk by it and see the infrared lights come on, but donât get sent a notification or a recorded video. One second the motion detector works at 25 ft, then it wonât work unless youâre within 15ft. It being this unreliable is a problem. Giving it two stars for build quality being good, video quality being good, and the WiFi range seems to be pretty good.
