App and lack of customer focus make this one to avoid
I set this product up at an Airbnb we own located over 1000 miles away from home. The set-up using the Bn-Link app was incredibly frustratingâ-although it seemed relatively simple, switching to 2.4ghz briefly caused many of our other smart devices to stop working. While most reconnected normally after a few minutes, our Nest wouldnât and it let to a lot of wasted time and the A/C wouldnât come on on 90 degree weather. Now 4 months later I returned for the first time and the timer schedule/scene has not worked. I tried to open the BN-Link app and nothing. Downloaded the newer app and it states my account doesnât exist, even when I try to use the âforgot passwordâ option. Only after I saw a review here recommending the FEIT app instead was I able to connect this quickly and smoothly. However, given all the time wasted and BN-Link eliminating my account within 4 months (and yes I still have email confirmations it was created 4 months ago) I just feel they donât care about customers and I will not buy another one of their products.

Connected after I figured it out
Took me a bit to figure out that I needed to select the âpower stripâ product and not the usual âoutletâ since it actually is a dual plug. So far WiFi is strong. Ive got it outdoor in our covered porch – to heat up a feral cat house. I also made sure our WiFi router was set for both 2.4ghz and the usual 5ghz. The app works great. Was simple to understand.

CONNECTION HELP
I was almost ready to send this product back because like others, I couldnât connect with my cell phone to the product. Following the instructions, another gentleman posted earlier about connecting manually with the picture shown above. For me, the problem is this is 2.4 ghz product only and will not connect to 5 ghz. A lot of routers have separate signals and you can connect to either one and you need to make sure that your cellphone Wi-Fi is connected only to 2.4. ghz. when you try to connect. I have a TP â link Deco mesh system that transmits simultaneously in both and you cannot connect independently to one or the other, which was preventing me from connecting this product. The solution was to use the Deco app for my router and set up your guest network and transmit that in only 2.4 ghz. Once I did that, using the manual connection feature, it found it right away, and I had no problem connecting. You can control it through the BN â Link app and the instructions that come with it are very clear for connecting to Alexa if you want to use voice control. The app allows you to name the plug itself, and to independently name the two different outlets on the plug. I connected mine to the front yard and named it that, and named the first plug fountain, and now I can turn on my fountain with just a voice command, and I also set it on a timer. Good luck and hope this helps someone. I ordered another one for my backyard!!!

Apps are poorly explained but it works
I bought this to go with some string lights I installed over my patio. I was specifically looking for something that could be controlled via Bluetooth because I live in a two family house and wanted both apartments to be able to control it without having to be on the same Wi-Fi network or share a physical remote. I also didnât want to worry about batteries or losing the remote, so phone app control seemed ideal. After reading other reviews saying Bluetooth didnât work I was concerned, but bought it anyway because I didnât find good alternatives with Bluetooth.The apps and the process of connecting them to the dimmer is the only criticism I have. After installing the manufacturers app I couldnât get it to work with Bluetooth, but once I installed the Smart Life app the Bluetooth controls worked fine. It also worked well via Wi-Fi and via Google Home by voice command. If you are entirely non-technical just buy one with a physical remote.By the way, I did not try to set it up initially using bluetooth. All settings are retained after being unplugged, so if you plan to use it with bluetooth you don’t need WiFi to reach the area where you’ll actually be using it. I plugged it in inside my house, configured it via WiFi and then moved it to the outdoor location.The dimming function was excellent but it turns out the lights at their brightest are just fine, so I donât anticipate using the dimmer function â Iâll just be using the physical on/off switch on the unit. It is still a great deal for me as it is a great price even just for a waterproof outdoor switch.

I was os exicet cause looks amazing, but never see in the description the it’s impossible to connect the device without a 2.4ghz wifi connection. I my house we use just a router from bell with 5G. then will not work at home.
