Wow these are bright! Easy to Install
The installation was relatively simple; after removing the old fixtures, it took me about 30 minutes to install eight, including adding them to the Cync app. However, getting them to sit flush with the ceiling was a bit challenging. I used the side bracket method for installation, but they kept pushing down, resulting in a gap between the ceiling and the lights. Most of my installation time was spent trying to get them to sit flush, but I eventually got them all in.Overall, I’m impressed with these lights; they are significantly brighter than my old ones. I’ll definitely be dimming them down most of the time, as having eight in one room is a lot.A couple of things I have found after using them: the app is quite buggy. After adding 15 or 16 Cync devices (five under-counter lights, two light strips, and eight can lights), the app is very slow and frequently lags after I launch it. When I turn on a light, there can be a delay of up to three to four seconds before the app becomes responsive again. Sometimes, when I switch off a light, the app will lag and remain unresponsive, and the switch will still appear on in the app.Another issue I’ve had while installing the lights is that the app shows an error when updating the firmware on every lightânot just these. I believe the firmware is updating, as the app keeps spinning and eventually times out. If I attempt to update it again, I receive an error. I can skip the update after an error occurs, but the light remains unresponsive for several minutes after installation. Overall, I find the app to be very buggy. Moving forward, Iâm transitioning my house to Home Assistant, so this should not be an issue.

Beautiful lights & light!
These GE Cync Reveal lights are amazing. They are easy to install, and easy to set up with the Cync app. The choice of white light settings, colors, light shows, scenes, and schedules is also amazing. The Reveal setting adds a nice effect. The GE Cync Reveal lights are simply wonderful and deserving of the rewards they have received.

Actual lighting specs here
I took a gamble based on the actual wattage, since the listing didn’t give performance numbers. It worked out, but for anyone else who’s looking: 1150 lumens/75W equivalent. The lights are great, but the app sucks, so -1 star for that. So far my Cync lights have outlasted Philips Hue, which ran about a 50% failure rate after one year.Install was dead simple (screw in the adapter and shove it into the can, basically), and everything paired up to the app reasonably easy. I was able to swap them into my existing routines and groups without starting from scratch. I still can’t get scheduling to work properly, and I can’t stand choosing the color temp on a gradient (instead of picking my numerical color temp value).

easy installation and setup through the app
These lights are a retro fit for typical recessed can lights as commonlyfeatured in houses constructed in the early 2000s. They come with two different mounting brackets which can be easilyreplaced by using a philips screw driver. I removed the installed wire spring bracket and replaced it with the supplied metal claw brackets that will grab a hold of the circular stepped texture within the recessed can. Simply push the light up into the can after you screw in the R19 standard bulb adapter and you are done with the installation. After that set up your app control. One thing to notice is if you install multiple bulb, set them allup on the app first, before pairing the app with Alexa or Google home control, otherwise you will have to update the pairing later for any additional bulb connected to the app, to letGoogle or Alexa control any added bulbs.

Didnât Work Well with HomeKit
Fairly savvy HomeKit user. Trying to be polite here, but these recessed lights fell short. They donât really work with HomeKit and very frustrating to link into the network. Instructions are poor both online and inside the box. They had a weird dimming problem when you adjust color and would not go full brightness unless you use a standard color setting. BTW, those settings only worked in the app and not HomeKit. I would say that these are not worth the bother, especially given the excessive price tag. I expect more from GE âSavantâ.

Excellent Wafer Lights with Matter Support
If you are looking for smart wafer lights, these are probably one of the best choices. Really easy to retrofit and install and great light performance. Another great feature is the matter support so these paired with my Home Assistant instance perfectly and didn’t even have to use the GE Cync app.

Only compatible with 2.4ghz wifi. If your router has 5ghz or 6ghz these lights will fail.
You have to create a specific 2.4ghz only wifi network to operate the smart features of these lights. If you have 5ghz enabled the connection will drop and you’re out of luck. Resetting the lights is even more painful. You have to turn the light on and off five consecutive times to reset it. This is something that can’t be done if you’re using the GE Cync switch. I had to remove the light and hook them up to a socket that had a traditional on/off switch to reset them. These light do not work with a casetta smart switch. They will only work with a GE Cync switch or traditional toggle on/off switch. Cannot change colors via alexa commands either. So confounded as to why these are so bad.
