Work really well with HomeKit so far
Iâve set up 2 so far, easy, fast. Used the Meross app initially, updated the firmware as needed, connected to HomeKit with a click. Was easily able to group them. I only manage them via Apple Home, and use Siri to turn on or off whatâs plugged in. Have similar plans for the other 2

I bought these since they’re compatible with Apple HomeKit… Can’t stand having 10 different apps for everything. Glad I did! Super easy to setup and use with my Apple Home app.

Easy to use
Having used WeMo plugs before, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy these ones are to set up. Point an Apple iPhone at it, and it is configured and working in less than a minute. Install the Meross app, and it’s working with an Echo in moments. It’s very impressive.However, this is a pack of 4, and one of them doesn’t work at all. It starts, and even shows up on WiFi, but it refuses to configure, no matter what approach I take. The others work flawlessly, but this one switch is basically dead. I know I should ask for an exchange, but I’m still using the other 3, and don’t want to have to send them back to deal with this one bad one.For the working ones, I love them. I’m giving it 4 stars if the quality were better, then I’d be giving a 5 star review.Update: Meross saw this review and responded with advice on connecting to this final device. I’ve now connected to it, and it’s set up on my Apple Home system. It wasn’t easy, but it did work! So maybe 4.7 stars is a more appropriate review? ð I appreciate the effort from their support, so I’ll round up the review

Setup Required Several Restarts but Now It Works Great
My first several attempts to connect it to HomeKit went nowhere. I can’t tell you what I did to make it work, but on the 3rd (and last) attempt, it connected! Once connected, it worked fine. In the one year I have had this Smart Plug, it did disconnect one time… but it reconnected on the first attempt. Given the trouble I have had connecting other devices, this isn’t bad. 4 stars instead of 5 because it took too many attempts to connect, but if finally did and works well.

It simply works with Apple HomeKit
I originally purchased a single 2-pack and was so impressed with the ease of use and integration into Apple HomeKit that I bought two more 2-packs. These are great for turning on and off lamps, floor fans, 3D printers, etc. They also have a power button blended into the right side of the plug for turning the unit on and off manually. Great product. I will buy more if the need arises.

TLDR: connectivity is mostly fine, but the real problem is the fire hazard represented compared to other brands.Connectivity isnât great (especially regarding consistency), but itâs not utterly terrible. It works fine for 6-8 months and then totally disconnects due to a needed firmware updated that the app didnât notify us about and also doesnât show when I check for a firmware updates (regularly, once every 3 months).The main issue, however, is that weâve had this smart plug for less than two years, and the first time we had a power surge during a storm, the tip of the grounding pin melted to the point that I had to pry it out of the surge protector. For the record, we use expensive, high quality surge protectors and had various brands of smart plugs plugged into this same brand of surge protector around the house. This is the only brand that had an issue. Two separate Meross plugs did this. I suppose you could technically say that they did a good job since our house didnât burn down despite the surge, but I caught this shortly after the power surge when changing up some automations and no other smart plug had this issue, including one of another brand that was on the same fuse and the same brand of surge protector. We live in a house built in the 80s; I work remotely in IT, and we have a very smart home due to a few disabilities between us, so as a rule, we use surge protectors with all our smart plugs and technology and will do so until we can afford to rewire the house. We are very mindful. This product is dangerously low quality.

Excellent product and software
MEROSS product provides excellent plugs, switches and other products. I got so fed up with the inconsistency of my WEMO products and lack of support that I tried the MEROSS plugs. They were easy to install using the MEROSS software and I have not had one issue with them. Due to this excellent performance, I bought several switches as well a two smoke detectors.

Reliable and convenient HomeKit-compatible smart plugs
I have 10+ of these smart plugs from Meross (as well as some of their outdoor smart plugs), and they are fantastic. I replaced all my Belkin Wemo plugs with Meross plugs after Belkin refused to patch a glaring security hole, and never looked back. I have several pieces of electronic equipment plugged into them, such as a Blackmagic ATEM Mini and Ultimatte 12 HD, audio mixers, and various lamps and fans.The smart plugs are all accessible and can be switched in HomeKit, though I still use the Meross app for occasional firmware updates. Admittedly, the Meross iOS app was rough in its infancy a few years ago, but has come a long way and is just as stable as any other IoT controller app.
