There are cheaper ones but spend the extra $$ and buy this one! You’ll be glad you did!
Review of 500W Remote Control Light Bulb Socket, Wireless Light Switch for Pull Chain Lighting Fixture, with 2 E26 E27 Bulbs Base Holder, Programmable, No Wiring NeededI needed a way to operate 2 basement lights that are not connected to the main switch on the wall going down into my basement. Both of my lights have the old pull chain style bases. Pull chains hang down in the way, especially if you have a basement with a low ceiling like mine. I tried two other brands, that were cheaper than this set, before I tried this one. The cheaper ones failed. It was not a distance from the switches, they just did not work right. I returned them. This set paired immediately! Set up was very easy. At first, I was afraid that I was in for problems because you pair the first one, then you add others as you like, and this did not work well with the cheaper ones. Adding the second socket/light with this product worked flawlessly and the first time. Both of the other brands I tried were only rated for 100 feet of distance between the sockets and switches. This one is rated for 300 feet. I don’t have anywhere close to 300 feet of distance between either of the sockets/lights and the switch placement at the top of my stairs. I do have a couple of walls between the switch and the second light/socket. The on/off worked wonderfully. The sockets and the switch feel well made; much more so than others I tried before. The switch operates smoothly and easily. This switch plate I was hoping would fit exactly in the same spot (holes matching up) as the filed devices, but this switch plate was slightly larger/longer, so I had to drill an extra hole. But the plate cover served to cover the old holes. Other brands have the actual switch that can be easily removed and used as a carried remote, but this device’s actual switch snaps into place within the switch plate cover. The only thing that I could not find was how to replace the battery in the switch. The instructions are pretty straightforward otherwise. These are wireless, but they are not connected to your Wi-Fi. This is a plus to me. So far, I am very pleased with this product. It was well worth the extra $15 over the lesser brands.

    Great solution for older homes
We have a 1950’s home with old fashioned lights in the closets (operated by a pull string). These bulbs are an easy way to update our lighting so that we can turn off and on with a switch. They are super simple to set up and work perfectly. Highly recommend!

    Wonderful device
This works like a charm. I have a 100-year old house where some lights are not on switches. This helped install modern conveniences. I currently have two sets that work great, out of the box. I tried a cheaper brand, but it did not work out of the box. I have been super happy with both sets from this company.

    very tall
The extention makes the bulb stick out if the lamp shade is short. Other than that it works great.

Not Your Average Cheap Tech from China
Somebody put some extraordinary thought into this controller design. I don’t know how well the hardware will hold up over time but the firmware is awesome on start-up.I have an elderly relative that needed to remotely control two outdoor 150W security lights (they’re under the eaves and mostly protected from the weather) because the existing switches are behind his big screen TV. He preferred not to have to deal with some new smart-alec smart home app. I’d been looking for almost a year for a wireless/smart socket that could handle over 60W and was happy to finally find these. I bought two AK1 packages (1 switch 1 socket) because the house wiring is set up the same way: each lamp is controlled by one switch. When they arrived (very promptly, by the way) I began setup and proved it was very easy to pair two sockets to one switch. This is what my relative wanted, but after some thought I realized I needed to set up the other switch as a spare. This prompted some confusion while I tried to make sense of the instructions, but eventually I saw that the second switch doesn’t pair with a socket. That first switch you paired with the socket(s) is now the “master” switch, so when you add another switch, it’s now a “slave” switch: it pairs with the master switch, not with the sockets. That’s an important perspective in explaining why you press/hold for a blinking LED on the master switch instead of on the sockets in order to pair a second switch. If you ever lose or break the slave, it’s no problem because the master will still work just fine. But. I think if you lose or break the master then you have to reprogram sockets and switches like it’s all a brand new system. Hopefully I’ll never have to find out for sure.I’m curious, though: if we decided to add a third switch, would we pair it with the master switch or would we “daisy-chain” and pair it with the other slave? As smart as this design is, I’m sure you can pair it with the master. But I’m in no hurry to find out.Well done, Mr. Firmware Engineer. I look forward to finding out how well the hardware holds up. These are not intended for outdoor use but hopefully the close overhead shelter from the eaves will serve the needed purpose.
