Good For The Price
For the record, my brother has been installing home security systems, surveillance systems and other low voltage systems for 23 years. While he says he personally wouldn’t have bought an inexpensive “kit” such as this, he did help me install it with his professional touch, though I’m certain I could have accomplished it myself. With his equipment, we were able to feed the cables from under the eves outside, through the attic and down through the wall of my bedroom. The cables exit the wall through a slotted wall plate to tidy up the bundle to keep it all neat.We decided to use the bedroom TV because if I ever heard anything unusual outside, I can easily switch the input channel on the TV to see the video feeds without having to get out of bed or turn on any interior lights.He also complimented me on buying a hard wired system vs a wireless due to the wired system being more reliable, safe (can’t hack a wired system) and less maintenance.A professional grade system of comparable size through his supplier at his cost would have run $600-$1200. I wasn’t willing to fork out that much. The cameras in this Swann kit are made by Toshiba…which makes pretty decent electronics.My home is a 1660 sq ft single story on a slab. 60ft of cable didn’t sound like it was going to be enough, but it easily was. The programming part of the setup is a little confusing…which is why I could only give 4 stars. Visiting the product manufacturer’s website answered a few questions, but I had to dig to find those answers.The video quality exceeded my expectations…even the night vision is very good and clear enough to recognize a face some 40ft away. My brother (the professional) gave this system a thumbs up for what I paid, though he said he prefers a “Power over Ethernet” type hardwired camera system as that’s what all the high end commerical grade systems are. This is still a good system.At the end of the day, I am pleased with this Swann Security Camera system. The big question is how long will the components last without any issues or failures?

Great quality for a great price
Iâve really enjoyed this product after a few months. I will say the nighttime view is amazing I have had to mess with it a lot as far as it picking up the correct kind of movements…due to trees swaying back and forth in a sunny day or high wind blowing things up into the camera view. The app is a bit wonky and still a bit unsure on if it actually captures audio as the dvr has audio in and out but I donât think Iâve looked enough into that portion yet. Either way, for what was paid it sure gives the competition of higher priced systems a run for their money as Iâd rather have a few false reports then no notification at all.

WORST SYSTEM EVER- DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY
THEIR SUPPORT PEOPLE ARE WORTHLESS JUST TO START!I’ve had multiple issues since I bought these cameras. Suppose to be waterproof but mine hasn’t been. Corrosion inside the connections so they can’t be waterproof. Playbacks do not work half the time. Picture quality is way less than expected. Their system changes the settings all the time for no reason and because of this, my playbacks stopped working and I had a theif in my yard but missed it since my playbacks quit working on their own!To many issues and would not buy again. Still under the 1st year warranty and they put you through hell to get a replacement camera and they don’t replace your DVR with a new one, they repair yours and customer has to pay the shipping!! And this is under warranty! I’m very disappointed in this set and their support.Will never purchase from Swann again.

The camera system is great. The video quality is crystal clear during the day and at night with night vision. The app works great on the phone, it just needs few improvements. Only thing we couldn’t figure out is the audio from the cameras. Please, if you know how to make the audio to work. I will appreciate your help. Thanks

Video is subpar
I bought this new Swann home security camera system because I wanted to upgrade from an old Swann 600p home security system.Well, to tell you the truth I’m disappointed in the video quality of this new system. It says it’s 1080p but the image looks pixelated. The image isn’t sharp like you would expect a 1080p image to be.The FPS is only 15. Where on my old system you could set it to 30fps giving you a smoother looking image.My brother has a Lorex 1080p Home Security system and his live image is excellent. His looks like a true 1080p image on his HD TV.Also the whites of the image are completely blown out on a sunny day. It is especially noticeable if the camera is placed in an area like the front porch where its in shade. You can adjust the contrast and brightness but it doesn’t really help.I don’t think these cameras have a good quality light sensor that adjust to the change in light throughout the day. My old cameras were able to do so automatically.My old cameras were made of metal where these are made entirely of plastic.I don’t recommend this home security system.Also the DVR I received in the box is not the one that is shown pictured on the box which is very confusing. I bought my system directly from Amazon and it had Swann security tamper tape all over the box. So no one swapped out the DVR. That’s how it came from swann.In addition, I download the Swann Android app and connected my DVR to the Swann DDNS network after creating a Swann DDNS account.Again the quality of the video on my smart phone coming from the DDNS service was disappointingly poor. My phone screen resolution is 1080p and the video looked like 480p.

This camera system is similar to my old one but the biggest unknown difference was my OLD ONE RECORDED THE BACK UP FOR 3 MONTHS LONG! Whereas this new one records backups for only about 12 days long! Had I known this fact I would not have purchased it! Also after about 6 months the DVR Player BROKE! And STOPPED RECORDING anything: it died instantly! So I did return it to Swann in shock at my own expense! However, They did replace it with a new one which works now. My old one lasted 10 years without any problems or glitches hence another Swann purchase. They donât make new products like they used to? Oh, weâll? What can we do? Thx
