TUO is Science first.

Researchers discovered new ‘dawn detector’ cells in our eyes, as featured in peer reviewed journals Current Biology in 2020 and Journal of Biological Rhythms 2024. These new cells send powerful circadian signals, from changes in specific colors like a sunrise, to sync our bodies to the day.

3 Circadian Lighting Modes – More than just the color of the light.

Violet and orange sunrise skyViolet and orange sunrise sky

Wake Mode

The day is 24 hours, but most people’s circadian rhythm is longer than 24 hours, and our bodies depend on the sun and light to set it each day. Indoor lighting, even bright white, blue-enriched, 10,000lux lights do not provide sufficient circadian signals like the sun.

TUO WAKE light mode activates our Dawn Detector cells, sending powerful signals, to ‘set’ our internal body clocks to morning at normal 250 lux light levels.

Active Mode

In addition to the circadian pathway, these Dawn Detector signals also project to the mood centers of the brain and help with alertness, cognitive acuity, and mood.’

TUO ACTIVE light mode activates this signal at less than 250 lux, instead of 10,000lux, making it easy to use in your everyday life.

Calm Mode

TUO CALM mode is a steady light tuned to cancel any circadian influence at any brightness. This is in the evenings to avoid stimulating your circadian system and undo the correction WAKE mode has done for users.

This is in contrast to WAKE and ACTIVE light modes that, nearly imperceptible to your vision system, rapidly shift targeted circadian colors to active the circadian pathway to the internal body clock.

Who can use TUO lighting?

Busy professional performance concentrationBusy professional performance concentration

Professionals

Struggling with work stress and late-night emails can disrupt your sleep and delay your circadian rhythm, leaving you feeling groggy in the morning.

Wake up with TUO lights on your custom circadian schedule to start your day.

Families

As parents, setting routines is a vital part of raising our children healthy. The TUO life lighting will help parents easily maintain consistent daily wake and sleep times for children, and help adjust from summer schedules to school times or daylight savings time changes.

Students

Pre-teens, teens, and younger adults have circadian phases closer to 25hrs than 24hrs. This near hour difference in the day will impair your children’s ability to wake up in the morning and reduce mental acuity in school. Wake up with TUO to help advance your circadian phase in the morning to get the most out of your day.

This bulb is so cool, worth every penny
This is my first time ever writing a product review. This bulb is so cool, it has the ability to turn all sorts of different colors as a bonus and is app controlled and time scheduled to wake me up at a certain time every day. Multiple modes for waking up, vs calming down at night. The science behind it is there, I can’t wait to see the positive benefits moving forward

    It’s Buggy
I like the idea but for the cost of the product and its basic functions it’s pretty buggy. For example, it’s not an uncommon occurrence for the light to automatically turn on at random times. This quite annoying when it’s the middle of the night. When it works correctly though, it’s quite nice and crests for a much more peaceful wake up.Lastly, I wish it would slowly fade in a bit more in the morning rather than just turning on.So would I buy it again? Probably not.

    Great for winter blues
I’ve been using the bulbs since I heard about them in one of the Huberman podcasts. It helps with waking up in the morning and staying active especially after lunch time which used to be really hard to stay active. The kids use them in their rooms and they have to wake up early for school but have been pretty consistent since we started using the bulbs. I think the fade setting at night helps them wind them down and wake mode wake them up naturally compared to conventional lights. Highly recommend!

Great idea! To bad it doesn’t work
It’s really is a great idea to have a bulb that automatically turns on in the morning at a high Kelvin rating to simulate a sunrise, then turns on again at a lower Kelvin rating at night to simulate a sunset. Too bad the company hasn’t figured out how to do this yet. I went through 2 bulbs, but ended up returning both of them. Maybe in a year I’ll try again. The first bulb wouldn’t change to the different Kelvin settings, it was always the same color (about 3500k) It did turn on and off at the correct times, but it also randomly turned on and off for about 10 seconds a couple times throughout the day and night. The second bulb actually worked perfectly, turning on and off at the correct times, with different brightness in the morning vs. the evening. After 3 days is use, the bulb lost the internet connection, and wouldn’t work again. I couldn’t connect to it through the app, and it stopped turning on and off. If i manually turned it on, it was the wrong color since it wasn’t connected to the app. Some issues are in the app, not the bulb. For example, there are 4 different modes that the app defines based on the wake time and sleep time you enter: Super Wake, Wake, Active and Calm. In theory, if you manually turn the light on anytime of the day, it should be set to the correct brightness based on your circadian rhythm. (brightest in morning, reddish colored at night, and somewhere in the middle during Active times.) Super Wake should be the brightest (which is 5000K for this bulb), but the highest setting for both Super Wake and Wake is 3500K. The highest available setting for Active and Calm is 5000K, which is backwards. The only way to fix this is to manually change the mode from Super Wake to Calm, AFTER the light turns on every morning. (you can set the Calm to 5000K beforehand). This has to be done every day in order to get the 5000k morning light…which defeats the purpose of having an automatic light. While I’m waiting for them to fix these bugs, I’m going to set up a 5000K and a 2300K bulb next to my bed, both on their own timers.

Just a little box lamp with an unshaded bulb. App is useless.
I’ve had a dawn simulator control box for nearly 30 years now. It’s a lifesaver. I read about this bulb online and thought it sounded intriguing and maybe useful as an alternative or addition to my regular dawn simulator. So far it’s been an exercise in futility. The app is full of nonsense about circadian rhythms and lifestyle BS– I told it my age and my classification– ‘night owl’ (but with an early AM work schedule) and it informed me that it wanted to set me up as a “Rooster” (?) and have the light come on two hours after I would have left for work. Unhelpful. All I want is to use the on/off scheduler because it’s the only part that makes any sense– but the app repeatedly can’t FIND the bulb, and when it somehow magically does (it did) then it completely forgets how to find it AGAIN the very next day. ‘Scan Failure’, ‘Scan Failure’, that’s all I get out of this app.So ultimately its a dumb little lamp that you can turn on and off with the switch. The current app needs to get tossed in the garbage and re-coded into something sensible and simple. That works.

    Awesome Product, Frustrating App
I love this light, it’s been a game changer for my energy levels. The frustration comes with the very poorly designed app and the lack of any offline, Matter, or HomeKit support. That being said, I’d buy another one if I lost this one.

    Great circadian rhythm light
I can feel the sleep pressure decrease or increase instantly when using these, depending on the mode used. Well worth it for the circadian rhythm benefits, especially in areas like the Pacific Northwest with short winter days and long summer days. Easy to set up and app works good. Some caveats:They recommend zero shades/covers. I changed my light fixtures to accommodate.Color of lamp can be adjusted independently of the light that affects eye “dawn sensors” so you can have these be any color temp you want. When first turning on it defaults to a normal light at max brightness until network connection is re-established(10 seconds?).Must have wifi so maybe not a travel lamp.
