A great lens with character
Lets get this out of the way first- This isn’t an optically perfect lens. Far from it. Wide open, this lens produces a somewhat soft and hazy picture that I’m sure some people will be put off from. If you want optical perfection, this isn’t the lens for you.THAT BEING SAID- I love this lens. For one, it’s the cheapest new lens (I think) that you can buy for the Fuji X mount. That alone gives it a lot of leeway to misbehave a bit, in my book. It’s built of metal and feels good to use- the focus ring is well dampened and the clicked aperture is ideal for still photography. Not being a video shooter, I vastly prefer this over declicked apertures. The image quality, for all its flaws, provides what I find to be a pleasing character. It’s not perfect for everything, but this is a lens that begs to be shot wide open at contrasty night scenes in the city. It’s wide open characteristics are similar to using a slight diffusion filter. Considering that a good diffusion filter costs almost as much as this lens (Or more, if you splurge on the best filters you can buy), I treat this lens more as a special purpose tool than something to use for every occasion. That character disappears quickly when you stop down, becoming a very sharp lens very quickly. The diffuse look disappears almost completely after the first click down, so you don’t need to use it all the time and still have a fast 2.8 aperture without the haze. It’s also very small, and pairs well with my X-M1 as a setup that can get tossed in my shoulder bag without a second thought. It’s a very fun lens, and if you aren’t expecting the level of optical precision that Fuji lenses often strive for, this is a fantastic lens for the money.

Great, tiny, clicked-aperture, manual lens
If you’re looking for a lens that will make your small fuji X camera as small as an X100, look no further. This is a very tiny lens with a satisfying clicked aperture ring and a silky smooth mechanical focusing mechanism. It is extremely well constructed out of metal, looks gorgeous on the camera and is fun to use. Focusing is easy with Fuji’s focus peaking or magnification features. Image quality is on par with most vintage lenses. In other words, good enough for most people.

For $64? A Lot Better Than You’d Expect. Lots of Flaws, Though.
It seems while other people have had copy variance issues, my copy of this lens focuses correctly when set to infinity focus and is pretty damn sharp wide open considering what it is and it’s price. There is a quite heavy vignette wide open at f/2 and the image can get pretty easily washed out from strong light sources in, or just outside of the frame (though this gets slightly better as you stop down). F/4 is a sweet spot in terms of sharpness and overall image for subject photography with some background separation. Unfortunately, it doesn’t make for a very good landscape lens at all due to the corners of the image frame being blurry, even stopped down to f/8, and there is some somewhat noticable barrel distortion if you have straight lines in your frame.Fortunately, there isn’t a strong color cast, though colors need a little bit of booting either in post or in camera. I find the build quality to be fine considering how small it is. It is true that the aperture ring is very thin and close to the focus ring, but I personally got used to it rather quickly. I initially accidentally ordered a Sony mount version of this lens, which had a feeling of grinding as I turned the focus ring, but the Fuji X version that I now have has no such issue and there is an adequate amount of resistance in the focus ring. Again, I suspect it to be a copy variance thing.Overall, an enjoyable and small little walk around lens if you aren’t necessarily looking to do portfolio work or you’re okay with stopping down quite a bit for optimal results, and even then stilly having blurry image corners. It makes my X-E1 like an interchangeable-lens X100. You need to remember that you’re literally paying $64 for the lens so you should manage your expectations and keep them reasonable.

Amazing street lens!
You can find my review of this lens, along with its 50mm brother on that red arrow video site under the name “Camera Carnage”. Bottom like is this is one of the great bargains in manual lenses. Construction is great. Tactile sensation on the aperture and focus rings is smooth and excellently damped. Optically it’s very good. I really enjoy shooting this on my FujiFilm bodies. The stop on the focus ring is adjustable, which is nice in case your setting at infinity isn’t quite perfect. Some people don’t like the spin-on lens cap, but I appreciate how much space it saves, and how secure it is. The extra effort to take it on and off isn’t a red mark for me. Focal length is perfect in my opinion for street photography, and the infinity focus is at an excellent distance for zone focusing. I love this lens so much that I am probably selling my XF 27mm f/2.8 AF pancake and replacing it with this.

Compact every day lens with great feel
This became my everything lens on my Xpro1. Compact sharp and a great look to the images. It’s not clinical but has great character. Flare can be an issue but I have a pretty good square hood on it. Colors and contrast are good. For me, an excellent street lens

One of the most fun lenses Iâve ever owned
Loved everything about this lens, the size, the slight vignette that gives that vintage look and especially the Manual Focus, makes Photography really fun and makes you slow down.

The quality of this lens is amazing I cannot believe the price. Metal parts, smooth aperture, controlled focusing and sharp sharp sharp images.I watched a lot of videos about this lens before I purchased it and the main take away is the vignette the lens naturally has at low aperture. This is not even an issue! Most people will apply a vignette in post production anyway!Buy this lens, use Fuji film recipes and feel like you’re shooting film all over again!Bottom line is to get this quality in any name brand you’re looking at 6 times the price and maybe not as good! Don’t listen to the haters and get creative with this little metal cylinder or awesomeness.I hope this helps anyone on the fence. Jump over

Delivery was faster than expected. This manual focus budget lens is amazingly sharp.

I bought this one to pair it with my Fuji xpro3All great but for some reason and after not using it a while ( I kept it in its box) I found that became a little clumsy, found hard to get an image on focus at wide apertures and the image quality also was affected? Setup on my camera haven’t changed so I don’t know how that can be. In any case, I got great images with it.

Shocked by the quality of the shots I’m getting with this ultra inexpensive piece of glass. I’ve been using this as my primary muck-about lens for a few months now. It’s suits just about all my (amateur/hobbyist) needs – Casual portraiture, landscapes, low-light, shallow depth-of-field, mushy bokeh. Super fun.

This is fantastic for the price! Itâs my first time trying a 27mm fixed and wanted to get a feel before deciding whether to invest in a better one. Iâm pleasantly surprised by the quality. There is some vignetting but the fact that this is the only issue Iâve noticed with the lens is shocking, given that the Fujinon one is $500+. Iâm very pleased with this.
