FYI doesnt taste bad at all when mixed in your smoothie
gross if not mixed with your smoothie but its benefits listed below are worth the nasty taste, FYI doesnt taste bad at all when mixed in your smoothie.Spirulina is a great source of other nutrients including (according to Wikipedia): “It contains vitamins B-1(thiamine), B-2 (riboflavin), B-3(nicotinamide), B-6 (pyridoxine), B-9 (folic acid), vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin A and vitamin E. It is also a source of potassium, calcium, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, sodium and zinc. Spirulina contains many pigments which may be beneficial and bioavailable”.Important Note: Contrary to many claims, Spirulina is not a good source of Vitamin B12 for humans. While it does contain a form of B12, it is pseudovitamin B12 which is not absorbable or effective in humans according to studies.2. Contains Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) & Omega-3sSpirulina contains Gamma Linolenic Acid andOmega-3sSpirulina is 65% protein and amino acids including the essential fatty acid gamma linolenic acid (GLA) which has gotten a lot of attention for its anti-inflammatory properties, especially when taken with other quality Omega-3 supplements.GLA is difficult to find in a food source and normally has to be created by the body. Spirulina is one of the few foods with a natural GLA content.I suspect that the benefits of GLA in Spirulina are even more than what the studies have found since these studies often use vegetable oils for their GLA source, and the other inflammatory compounds in vegetable oils can interfere with the anti-inflammatory ability.Besides GLA, Spirulina also contains Omega 3-,6 and 9s and is especially high in Omega-3s.3. May Help Balance Blood SugarStudies show that spirulina may be especially helpful in balancing blood sugar, and may even be as effective as diabetes medication in some instances. Other studies show that it not only lowers blood sugar but may also lower HbA1c, which is a long term marker of blood sugar levels.4. Powerful AntioxidantsAntioxidants are powerful substances that protect our cells from damage. Thanks to decades of research, many of us understand the importance of consuming enough antioxidants from natural sources, and spirulina is a great choice. The antioxidant that makes spirulina unique is called phycocyanin, which is a potent anti-inflammatory.This Spirulina was tested by an independent laboratory and found to have an ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) of over 24,000 which is 4x the ORAC score of blueberries. The ORAC score is generally used to measure antioxidant ability and concentration in different foods.5. May Help Those with AllergiesSome research has suggested that Spirulina may be helpful for those with allergies and allergic reactions. (source)This is likely because it reduces inflammation that leads to nasal congestion and other issues. In studies, those who took spirulina noticed a reduction in nasal congestion, itching, and sneezing.6. Helps Remove Heavy MetalsSpirulina can bind with heavy metals in the body and help remove them.It is also extremely high in Chlorophyll, which helps remove toxins from the blood and boost the immune system. In fact, one study found that 5 grams of spirulina daily combined with zinc supplementation was enough to reduce arsenic toxicity by almost half!Emerging evidence also suggests that it binds with radioactive isotopes and may be useful for radioactivity exposure or radiation therapy.7. Muscle and Endurance BenefitsSpirulina is known to increase fat burning during exercise. Its high antioxidant content makes it beneficial in reducing exercise induced oxidation which leads to muscle fatigue and inability to gain muscle.

… has been difficult to figure out while trying towatch my carbs
Since going on a raw vegetarian diet protein has been difficult to figure out while trying to watch my carbs. After reading about Spirulina and its high protein/ low carb content I decided to give Terrasoul’s Spirulina Powder a try. The first try I added it to a smoothie (1 tbs) and felt it overpowered it flavor-wise. I decided to add 1 tbs to water with one packet of Stevia in the raw instead. Mixed it with about 6 oz. of water and 1 stevia packet and let it sit for about 10 minutes so all of the chunks dissolved. Dissolved great and went down really smooth, no problem with the taste what so ever! Taking 1 tbs a day the 6 oz package lasted me almost a month which makes the price of a little over 10 bucks a bargain. Ordered it again today because I was really happy with the quality and results.

Spirulina Expert Here- This Tasted Like Burnt Catfood
UPDATE: After informing the company of my dissatisfaction with the product, I was given a full refund, no questions asked. For this reason alone, because I value customer service, I will continue to trust this brand and buy their other products. So, though I can’t recommend this product, I’d say if you buy it and don’t like it, at least you can get your money back. Maybe I got a bad batch or it overheated in shipping, etc…ORIGINAL NEGATIVE REVIEW:I bought this and the Sari Foods Organic Spirulina to do a comparison. A little background: I’ve been consuming, and have tried various other “green” products, including wheatgrass, chlorella, etc… so you can say that I’m pretty familiar with these things and I can tell when a product is good quality vs. bad quality. Clearly, one needs a laboratory analysis to tell the exact chemical make-up, but let’s just say I can give you a good ball-park estimate. I was expecting to like this product based on the reviews. Here was my experience:In short, the product SUCKED. Now, in all fairness, I don’t know if I got a bad batch, or whether it had spoiled, or whether this is a poor quality product, in general. I don’t say this because I’m grossed out by green powders. I can eat chlorella, wheatgrass, etc. RAW with mixed with some water, and nothing else, so let’s just say, I’m pretty hardcore in terms of not being a pansy and needing to add a ton of fruit. The best way I can describe the taste of what I tried was CAT FOOD. The color of the powder was also much darker than normal, and not in a darker green sort of way, but almost in a burnt sort of way. It tasted like either spirulina mixed with cat food, or heavily processed/poor quality spirulina. Anyway, I gave it a shot for about 3 or 4 days, just to make sure I wasn’t imagining things, and then I THREW IT AWAY with like 90% of it left- that’s how bad it was. Now, if the good folks at Terrasoul would like to send me another sample, I’d be happy to give them another chance and amend this review, but until then, I advise you not to buy this product. I have no interest in, or connection with, Sari Foods, but I’ve been enjoying their Spirulina (you can find it on Amazon as well) powder and it reminded me of the dark, vibrant green, “healthy” taste I’ve come to expect from spirulina. I’m recommending another brand because whenever I read a review of a product I want to buy but see no alternatives, I feel helpless, and so I thought I’d at least you with another fine option (it doesn’t have to be the Sari Foods one, but I can’t speak to the others). Good luck, and good health to all of you!

It is definitely beneficial but kind of yucky.
Couple of very contradicting things. This stuff is awful, like ew awful, but it does seem to give me a boost of energy and really helped with hunger cravings. I mix it with powerade zero, a squirt if pyure and the Noni Powder. The Noni has a fine grit to it and it evens out the slimyness of the Spirulina. It’s totally worth the bit of yuckness. Oh and you have to use a shaker to mix it. If you shake to hars it gets foamy but stirring leaves it too slimy.
