I couldnât be happier with the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera. We recently moved into a new home, and I wanted a reliable security solution before heading on a Royal Caribbean cruise. After some research, this one seemed like the best fit, and Iâm thrilled with my choice.Installation & Customization:Setting it up was smooth, especially with the Vivria power adapter I bought separately, which worked perfectly with my setup. I took a bit of extra time to drill at an angle to hide the wires, as shown in my photos, to keep things as clean as possible. While the wire-hiding part was more about personal preference, the doorbell itself was truly plug-and-play, and everything you need for the basic install is in the box. As you can see in the pictures, the install was clean other than my first missed drill attempt/minor paint touchups.Integration with Ecobee Ecosystem:What makes this doorbell camera shine is how well it integrates with my Ecobee Thermostat. Not only was setup a breeze with the Ecobee app, but I can actually use the thermostat as a video hub when someone rings the doorbell (you can see this in the photo). This setup lets me see and speak to visitors directly from the thermostat, which is super handy. Plus, both the thermostat and my Ecobee indoor cameras work as chimes, so no matter where we are in the house, we can hear when someoneâs at the door.Peace of Mind While Away:The camera gave us total peace of mind while we were on vacation. The live remote viewing, real-time alerts, and the fact that it qualifies us for an insurance discount make this doorbell camera worth every penny. Easy setup, quality product overall, slight software improvements needed
Iâm coming from having a ring doorbell (2 of them) and I really enjoyed the ring camera. I purchased the Ecobee doorbell because it integrates with Apple HomeKit and honestly I just wanted to try something new. The installation was awesome, so easy. The App walks you through the entire installation and I was super impressed. Best of all, it comes with a doorbell chime adapter, unlike the Ring (at least when I bought my Ring doorbell). The entire process took 45 min. Keep in mind youâll likely need a power drill (to drill very small holes in wood), drill bit, and screwdriver. If you have masonry or other material youâll need different tools, but this is a 101 level project and Iâm confident anyone can complete with the solid instructions from the app, which is step-by-step. The quality of the product itself is great, and feels premium. Yes, itâs bigger than my Ring Pro but barely. The doorbell button is obvious and perfectly placed. The camera quality is great and the HomeKit integration is awesome and fast. I have an embarrassing amount of items in HomeKit and this was super simple to add. The camera loads fast and is high quality. My reasoning for 4 stars is with the software and motion/activity notifications. Itâs frustratingly difficult to receive simple notifications when someone walks in front of the camera. I am no Einstein, but I shouldnât have to search google to figure this step out. So far, Iâve been unable to figure this out to my satisfaction and this is done so well on Ring that this seems like a huge miss by Ecobee. It should be as simple as one button to turn these notifications on, no disarming or unarming. They get really close here but seems like they overthought this OR (more likely) Iâm just missing the obvious. If their programmers are listening, you have a real winner on your hands if you just make motion alerts simpler and more obvious, none of this disarm/arm/Smart Security/confusing stuff. I will gladly give this 5 stars if either I can figure this out or they upstate the software.UPDATE: I figured out the notifications eventually but they were inconsistent and not reliable. I went back to my Ring Doorbell Pro 2 and itâs much better. This is all my opinion and I think in time the Ecobee will be great.

This is my first time trying out a video doorbell so I was nervous it would be difficult to figure out the wiring. To my surprise, the installation flow was fast and easy thanks to helpful mobile install guide in the app. I was really happy that my old mechanical chime in the house actually works with the ecobee doorbell camera after I installed the small chime adapter that was included in the box – call me old school, but I love the sound of my old chime. The videos load quickly on my mobile phone and the wide field of view really captures the view of my porch well. As my front door is quite close to the sidewalk, I was worried it would pickup the motion from all the passersby but ecobee thought of that and included a detection range adjustment in the app – so I was able to adjust the range so that motion and person detection only captures people on my porch and ignores the people on the sidewalk. The best part of all is the integration with the thermostat. I didn’t think I would care for this feature as much as I do! Whenever someone rings the doorbell, I can glance at the thermostat in my living room to see who is outside. An excellent product overall. My only wish is that they make a camera floodlight too!

I just installed the camera a couple of weeks ago and the installation was extremely easy and took 20-30 minutes. The one problem is the tinny screws for mounting the backplate are really small and I dropped one and lost it, use a magnetic Phillips screw driver and maybe this will help. The picture quality is excellent and the smart focus option really works well it focusses on the person from the time it views until they are gone. The standard recording is 2 minutes which is great for viewing the person coming and going. Only two weeks and work the money.

The installation for the Ecobee doorbell was so insanely easy. I did it myself in 30 mins with the app instructions. The camera is also really clear, even at night. I also really like to two-way audio and the sound on it is great. We have had issues with packages being stolen off our porch so being able to be notified when packages come has been super helpful. Overall, I highly recommend this product and am definitely buying my mom one for Christmas.

Had a blink doorbell that was easy to install and worked reliably but took a long time to connect to the app to see video. Got an ecobee thermostat and thought it would be good to have a matching doorbell with quick connect video. It was painful to install, and needed a new doorbell transformer which I purchased and installed. Finally got it working but it is slow to notify my phone of a doorbell press, the video is choppy and delayed, and the audio is unintelligible. Then it goes offline. My wifi is strong and the blink camera never had wifi issues. This doorbell will likely be returned. Shame.

Hey, I’ve tried a bunch of different doorbells, like the latest Aosu, Eufy, TP-Link, and Ring. But none of them are as good as the Ecobee when it comes to quickly spotting people, starting to record, and sending me fast notifications without delay. Ring is pretty good too, though.The Ecobee only starts recording when it sees a person in the area you’ve set. It can even tell the difference between people and packages, so it’ll keep recording until the package is picked up. Plus, the camera has a wide angle and great quality, which is something that most other doorbells, except for the Ring, don’t have. If you’ve got other Ecobee stuff, then getting this doorbell is a no-brainer. I know some people don’t like the idea of paying a monthly fee, but other companies will probably start doing the same thing eventually; it’s just a matter of time.Note: for those who can’t get connect the device with their wifi from the start or the device doesn’t power up, you have to change the transformer. Get the 24v transformer. Also, if the chime adapter doesn’t work, just bypass your actual chime and use an alternative if you can like using you ecobee thermostat or amazon echo show for exemple or echo dot as a chime. It worked for me.
