This is the one you want. Maximum flexibility, easy to install
Reolink makes installation easy by including all the parts needed to set it up on the bench for testing before you mount it outside. This doorbell will work with the included 12V DC power supply and power extension cord, or it can be powered by an existing 12-20v AC transformer for a conventional doorbell. They include two jumpers to bypass old standard chimes (necessary if you have those). They also include a very helpful extension for existing doorbell wiring with spade connectors and wire nuts. If you prefer it also will accommodate a POE hookup.WiFi connectivity is stable and reliable. Picture quality is superb. The app works very well and pulls up quickly enabling you to respond immediately to anyone at the door. You can also monitor and communicate when you are away from the house from a remote cell connection. The speaker is clear. I have used it to call my dog in when she was 25ft away. There is no cloud subscription needed as the device will accept up to a 256GB micro SD.If you have an NVR it should accept this camera. It is fully OnVif capable. It works well with Blue Iris but you first need to enable OnVif and related features in the app under settings for this device. This doorbell appears to be the best unit on the market right now. There is even third party support with vendors offering wedges and extensions specifically made for this model. If you need more than one chime you can purchase additional chimes on Amazon. The included chime works out of the box but you will need to “pair” additional chimes with the camera before they work.

Easy setup and great video/features
Pros:Extremely easy to setup – I used the existing doorbell wires. (Basically) All you do is add the provided jumper cable to the existing chime, swap the doorbells and plug in the new chime to an outlet. Took me no more than 20 minutes from opening the box to watching a live feed from my front door.Good video quality – I can zoom a bit past my steps and the video doesn’t have a ton of artifacts. I can clearly see people’s faces as they walk up. Checks all my boxes.Features – The motion detection works great. I have an arlo system which I’m replacing with more reolink cams that has poor motion detection/options. With this camera, I was able to set up detection zones to prevent being triggered by passing cars. I like that I can filter recorded videos by motion/passing people/people who rang the doorbell. Takes no time at all to find any time someone entered my property.I also have a NAS that I enabled ftp on as a backup to the onboard(sd card) video. Took no time at all and has been working great.Cons:I was playing around with the chime sound and couldn’t figure out how to test it without saving it and the physically pressing the doorbell. Going through a dozen options, this was too tedious and I just left it on the default. I’m not saying there isn’t a way as I haven’t even searched on google for help, but it wasn’t intuitive if there is a better way. That was the con for the sake of there being a con section.Bottom Line:Works great. App is quick to open, quick to notify (if you want) and doesn’t tie you to any subscriptions or other nonsense when you just want to secure your porch/front yard. I highly recommend this doorbell.

Good Doorbell That Doesnât Need A Subscription
Pictured:First photo: My Reolink 2K Wifi (Black) doorbell mounted flat directly on the door at the recommended height specified in the manual.Second photo: An actual photo taken by the doorbell on âclearâ quality that shows a package in the air as itâs thrown from a courier. Image quality is good, but package isnât visible after itâs landed since floor isnât visible until a few feet from the door (doormat from first photo not even visible).I have been using this Reolink Wifi 2K Doorbell camera for about a year now and it has been mostly a good experience. This doorbell gets extra points because itâs one of the few doorbells that allow local control/access without needing a subscription in a market filled with doorbells that are proprietary, cloud dependent and require subscriptions for basic functionality.Hereâs what I like about this doorbell:1. Local control. This doorbell isnât dependent on the cloud. It supports HTTP, RTSP, and ONVIF. It behaves and functions like an IP security camera.2. Local storage. Since youâre not dependent on cloud storage, recordings are stored on a microSD card and accessed easily.3. Alexa functionality. I was looking for a second chime thinking I might not hear the doorbell across the entire house with only one chime when I realized that all my Alexa devices can be configured to act as a chime.4. Accurate person detection. This doorbell has been pretty accurate about distinguishing what is a person and what is not.Hereâs what could be improved:1. Delay. Thereâs often a delay when trying to load the video upon receiving a notification. This delay happens even when video is set to âfluentâ.2. Field of view. Installed at the recommended mounting height, the view of the floor isnât visible until about 3 feet away. What would be useful is if they included a mounted plate tilted downward. Maybe with a downward tilt and the doorbell mounted higher, more of the floor would be visible while preserving the ability to see a personâs face up close. This would be helpful for observing packages. Only a left-angled mounting plate was included for people mounting their doorbells next to the door. All in all, Iâm satisfied with this doorbell. This doorbell seems to have versatile installation options and compatible with different voltages even though Iâm simply using the included AC adapter strung through the door. The image quality can be improved, especially at night, but itâs good enough given the size of the camera. I believe there is a newer version of this doorbell in white with a 3:4 aspect ratio and package detection that addresses the desired improvements I mentioned.

Great unit, no subscription required, added my own SD card. Setup was easy as well using the Reolink app. I did have issues connecting but found the auto-lockout setting for failed logins was causing an issue, so turned that off. Since then, it has worked like a charm, the video is very sharp, and the night vision is really good.FYI, if you are running into constant connection issues, power off the power source to your doorbell and when you gain access again after it restarts, go into the doorbell settings. System | User Managment and disable “Illegal Login Lockout”. This feature does not appear to be working properly and locks out the device after the initial connection. Even if you disable WAN access, you still have the same issue. Reported this to Reolink, and will see what they come back with.UPDATE: After assistance with Reolink Support, I have an NVR also on my network for my POE Reolink external cameras and the NVR has an auto add feature. But because the auto added doorbell to the NVR needed the current password set, it was causing the lockout feature in the doorbell to kick in, because it wasn’t set. Once I set the password, the issue went away.

Big step up from our old Ring Video Doorbell 2 in image and sound quality, speed detecting people and connecting in the app, and best of all it has local storage and no subscription is required. With the Ring by the time we got notified and got a video feed in the app the visitor was normally walking away, while the Reolink connects in a second or two.Image quality is very good. At night I don’t use the IR detector, the camera is sensitive enough with just street lighting. The app is very good, lots of options, though I do wish there were a few more decent chime sounds (there are about 10 choices but only a couple that sound like doorbells), and more quick reply options would be nice. Searching and playing back recordings is straightforward. The doorbell is mounted on a piece of metal trim around the door that attenuates the wifi signal, but so far it’s been reliable and fast enough if I turn the video bit rate down. It has an ethernet port if I need to wire it up, which is great, but it would be better if the chime acted as a repeater like the Ring Chime Pro does, or if there was an option like that. The Chime Pro alone is half the price of the Reolink though, and the Ring in the same location got no signal without it.Adjusting the detection sensitivity (people walking past on the sidewalk etc) took a lot of trial and error over two or three days, but i expected that. Maybe a doorbell with built in LIDAR would handle it better.I bought this because I thought the Ring was failing. It turned out my wiring was bad, but I’ll keep it anyways. It’s a big upgrade overall, I feel more in control of my privacy with the local storage and detection, and with no subscription fee it pays for itself in a couple of years.
