Solid but a bit over my head
This seems like a really good quality stabilizer, but it is also more than I bargained for. Maybe Iâll figure it out with a bit more effort, but this isnât a device for an absolute neophyte like me. The physical part of the product seems solid⦠but Iâm still trying to figure out the rest of it, including how to use the app. If youâre familiar with this type of product, you may appreciate all that it has to offer, if youâre a newbie, you may want to pass on this one and get something a bit simpler.

Industry grade gimbal!
This gimbal is excellent. It’s the third one Iâve reviewed from this brand, and it stands out due to its high build quality and 360-degree rotation capability. It features a small OLED screen that displays the current settings. Additionally, it is extendable and includes a tripod attachment for added stability.The gimbal offers impressive functionality and quick pairing, ensuring everything operates smoothly, with a reliable ability to lock the phone in either vertical or horizontal position using a the physical mounting mechanism. I like how it holds my 15 pro max well even with the bulky case. It also has a built-in light within the gimbal body, along with an extra light attachment for enhanced lighting, especially useful for front camera shooting.Furthermore, it includes a fine adjustment knob and a built-in rechargeable battery, which is noteworthy since the basic model, Smart X, has a removable battery while this one does not. Although it is somewhat heavy, it remains manageable. Overall, this gimbal is a fantastic choice for professional use.

I really like this AOCHUAN Gimbal Stabilizer for Smartphone, Phone Gimbal w/8″ Extension Rod. It steadies my phone so well and lets me focus more on what I’m videoing rather than if I’m shaking too much or not. I have been using for a few months now videoing my kids’ sports and school club events. The video is a lot more stable than not having a gimbal but it does take a little getting used to and some practice. It can also get a little tiring since you have the added weight of the gimbal which you won’t be used to.The gimbal is well made and has nice construction. Overall, very happy with this Aochuan gimbal stabilizer.

Nice gimbal but poor documentation
This gimbal is well packaged and includes a really nice case. An app is needed to fully utilize the features. I was, however, able to get it to work without the app. (Just gimbals) I like the hardware. Nicely constructed. Movement is very smooth and makes no sounds. The phone gripper could be a little more flexible in my opinion. It’s doesn’t work with my phone case. Even after removing the case the phone still didn’t sit well in the grooves but it holds on good enough. The documentation is poor. It assumes you already know when and how to use the various modes. The factory videos help but are short and just barely cover each mode. I suggest looking for third party videos. The app works okay but is a little clunky. It shows videos for other models. It doesn’t collect any user data that I can tell. I was able to use the app without creating an account. There’s a light built in. It also came with a small “fill” light. It can be attached magnetically or left off. A phone needs to be installed for this to work. The gimbal aborts motion because of balance issues otherwise. The phone needs to be fairly well balanced. (Centered) The phone may be shifted off center a bit to avoid contacting the gimbal during movements. There’s a cold shoe for optional lighting. The tripod mount is standard 1/4″ and should work with most any tripod. The app supports face tracking. Once it’s all setup it works incredibly well.

Learning curve when using but cool tech when figured out
I’ve never owned or used a gimbal stabilizer, only seen them used and the quality of stabilized images and videos so I wanted to give this one a try. I have an iphone 13 Pro and there were no compatability issues; simply download the app and connect via bluetooth. I do have an Otterbox Defender phone case which is fairly sizeable so it was difficult to get the phone to fit properly in the holder. I took the rubber outer layer off and it did fit better (removing the case completely while annoying was the best fit). There is a definite learning curve to work through when trying to operate the gimbal. Once I had it aligned and balanced properly, I managed to get it to start spinning in circles. To this day, I have no idea what I did or hit to make it do that. As for functionality, it operated very nicely, keeping stable regardless of the walking I was doing or the terrain I was on (hills, hiking in forests, etc.). The controls are convenienlty positioned so one hand, one finger, operation is nice (and expected). The more I use it, the more comfortable I am with it. Also, battery life has been good as well. I’ve used it for a couple hours at a time and haven’t had it lose power but I do usually keep it fully charged. I will say it was larger than I was expecting. The carrying case it convenient but if you’re traveling with suitcases, anticipate it taking up a decent amount of space in your luggage (great for road trips but air travel with restricted luggage space becomes a challenge).
