Great streaming device!
I have been ready for awhile to replace my 2017 Nvidia Shield. Received this yesterday and setup was a breeze. Pointed my mobile phone at the QR code, selected the apps I wanted to install and voila! Setup was done in a very short time. I did have to wait about 10 minutes before hand for a firmware update, but that was not an issue.This device has more storage (32 GB as opposed to the Shield’s 16 GB), more memory (4 GB as opposed to the Shield at 3 GB). Same OS and same GUI (Android TV 11). Pay no attention to the reviews that claim this device is sending your info back to China. Is it made in China? Yep. But it is Google certified. To double check the crank conspiracy theorists here on Amazon, I spent some time last night monitoring incoming and outgoing data from the devices IP address or the router and found nada. Checked again this morning and see no evidence of that. So, nothing to that claim.Appearance of the device is cool too. Leather top is a nice touch and it’s form factor is small enough to hide behind my speaker bar below my TV. So far, I’m very happy with this purchase and would recommend this device.

Bad. Great hardware, but horribly buggy software that constantly calls home to China
Why did my review get deleted? It was up for a while and then disappeared.The RockTek G2 has just the hardware specs I want and has a snappy, smooth UI with clean-looking Android TV. But it’s full of bugs with HDMI-CEC and other problems. The worst was that it developed a bug that would cause it to reboot 3 minutes after going to sleep… over and over and over again. If I was using another device on my TV, the G2 would interrupt me by switching input when it rebooted. At night, my TV would never sleep because the G2 would constantly wake it up.Also, despite RockTek being a Taiwanese brand, this is just a Chinese device from SEI Robotics. RockTek is just the label. The G2 gets not just hardware but also firmware updates from SEI in Shenzen and constantly calls home to them. There is no effective English-language support, no warranty, and no English privacy policy.Went back to Nvidia Shield TV Pro. It’s a bit old, but well-supported by a reputable company.Edit #2:I gave the G2 a third try. They seem to have fixed the constant rebooting issue. But it still has so many glitches. For example, when waking from sleep, sometimes it will only connect to 2.4 ghz Wifi, and then get terrible network performance, unable to do 4k HDR without constant buffering. Only a restart will fix this. Also, sometimes when waking from sleep, connected external storage, like a flash drive, will not show up anymore, and you have to physically disconnect and reconnect. Bluetooth pairing just freezes on the pairing screen. Button presses work inconsistently. So very glitchy.It has great specs but it’s far too buggy even after several months and a couple of firmware updates.Also, I found the Shield too old, lacking to many codecs and HDR formats, and getting poor wifi performance.I settled on the Fire TV Cube. It has an annoying homescreen, but for actual streaming – which is the point – it just works, really well.

Update 1/11/23 A new firmware was just released and fixed HDR auto. Changed my review to 5 stars. If you want an android tv box look no further. The device works as expected with a few hitches. When HDR is set to auto no HDR is played back, needs HDR on and not auto. When plugging usb c devices in they are not being recognized. Still using the device and testing but overall great specs and performance. With firmware updates it should be a solid product. I am liking this way better than my Shield Pro device, overall way better specs and performance. Video quality is top notch on all apps that support Dolby Vision.3/14/23 Another firmware update!! ð 5 stars hands down

Connection issues
I have the box completely set-up and it works and looks great…However occassionaly the Blue Light on the Streaming Box will turn Red and then when the TV is turned on there is a warning no signal or antenna is found. The streaming box has lost its connection to HDMI.The only solution I have found is to unplug the power supply, wait 5 seconds and then re-plug in the power source.The unit resets itself and when I turn the TV back on everything is normal and I am connected to HDMI and on the Home Page.This is not something that should have to be constantly having to do especially for a streaming box that Costs $150.Has there been any software updates or a newer version of the box that does not have this problem.

Ich war zuerst sehr erfreut , wie ich die Technischen Daten gelesen hatte.Auch das Design hat mich angesprochen.Aber, warum ich so negativ bewertet habe ist, das Netzteil ist nicht EU, es ist zwar ein groÃer weiÃer Adapter dabei, aber ich wollte kein Konstrukt was aus mehreren Teilen besteht, sondern ein einfaches kleines Netzteil im EU Format.In der Artikelbeschreibung hab ich nichts erkennen können, dass ich so ein unschönen Adapter verwenden muss, um diese Box an eine EU Steckdose betreiben zu können.Für mich war diese Box nicht geeignet, hab sie nicht angeschlossen, nicht ausprobiert.Wem das nicht stört, so ein Netzteil Adapter Konstrukt zu verwenden, der kann ja diese Box sich ansehen…
