My stepson’s new girlfriend is Alexa
I bought this for my stepson for the living room TV because he had to rely on his mom’s phone to stream videos. Typhoon Odette and resulting 10 day power outage prevented this being set up on Christmas Day but a couple days later it was a go. At first I had trouble getting it to connect to our network but eventually it did. The first thing I tried was asking Alexa on which day is Christmas. “She” promptly replied that Christmas was yesterday (apparently she forgot about the time difference) and the next Christmas is December 25, 2022. I started installing streaming apps and signing in on those requiring a login. My stepson likes streaming YouTube so I asked Alexa to find Mr. Beast, and there he was on the screen. I handed the remote to my stepson and I don’t believe he has let go yet. He told his mother that this was HIS Christmas gift and she was not to touch it (jokingly, I think). All I hear now is Alexa this and Alexa that. He even tried turning on the lights even though we have no Smart bulbs. Today, he told his mother the weather forecast he got from Alexa: 80% chance of rain, which started coming down shortly afterwards. My only complaint is that HBO Go is not available, even though it is as an Android app. But I have read complaints from many others regarding HBO Max (fee req’d) removing HBO Go (free) so this is apparently an HBO issue for many foreign countries. Now I just need to find some Smart devices that are 220/240v as everything I’ve seen on Amazon is 110/120v. The Fire Stick definitely saved me some money as I was contemplating getting a new Smart TV.

A must have for TV
Love the firestick! Itâs a must have for watching all kinds of programs on TV. We use ours in Thailand and it works great!

Did not work in the Philippines!
To start with, I have a smart TV. I didn’t want or need another device that would tell me I was “Traveling” on Amazon Prime Video! That’s why I spent a lot of money on the International Fire TV stick. It was a complete waste of my time and money to make this purchase that gave me the same result as my smart TV. I installed Express VPN and still got the “Traveling” message on the stick! I was so disappointed with this purchase even though Amazon did refund my money – still hours of wasted time. Why advertise this item as “International” and charge more for it, and then it doesn’t work outside the USA?
