This waterproof digital ultrasonic collar operates all High Tech Pet Power Pet electronic pet doors as well as Sound Barrier and Yard Barrier sonic fences. Using all digital circuitry, this state of the art design provides a stronger signal and maintains better accuracy over all temperature ranges. It includes a specially designed B3V1A battery which lasts about 3 months and prevents damage to the circuitry if the battery is accidentally installed incorrectly. With a fully enclosed ultrasonic speaker, the MS-5 is waterproof and rugged. It’s perfect for the pet who likes to do some serious “ruff housing”. The MS-5 is fully immiscible and will continue to work when wet. It will stand up to heavy rain showers and is perfect for dogs who love to play in the snow. The enclosed transducer (speaker) is much more robust than conventional open air transducers and will stand up to far more abuse from your pet. Small and lightweight, one size fits all dogs and cats. Comes with an attractive and tough 27 inch nylon strap.

Says it’s waterproof, but it’s not
My golden retriever had her Collar on and splashed in the river. It was not submerged and it stopped working. Had it only for 25 days and the company replaced it. My other dog has had hers for three months and no issues. It works great with their electronic dog door and the dogs love it as they could go in and out to the backyard as they please

    doesn’t last long
My collars don’t last more than 6 months. The collar doesn’t get wet because we live in a dry climate. They should last longer for the amount of money I had to pay. In the past the collars lasted much longer.

    Expensive
These work great for the electronic door, the problem is they’re so expensive. They’re now over $50 a piece and I have multiple animals. Unfortunately, they need to be replaced because of damage that happens or a loss and it’s starting to get very expensive. I don’t know if anybody else is having this problem but it’s a good product. It’s just overly priced.

Stops working after only a couple months
Im officially very dissatisfied with these collars I have been through 16 of these collars sensors and they last less each time with this last round being bought on feb 25th it’s now April 28th and two out of the three animals I have they’re collars died. I have had this door for about two years now and it is frustrating because in order to fix this I have to purchase a different door and I paid almost 600 for this door so I don’t really want to do that nor can I afford to, so I’m stuck buying sensor after sensor. I would not recommend buying the door that pairs with this collar

Performs well…but does not do well in water
These work very well. The only problem I have experienced is when the seal was apparently loose and water entered the battery area. This happened when my pug would run through the water or be drinking outside and the transmitter would be in the water! I think this is an area that could be improved. Also the tiny screw is difficult for me to loosen, but maybe it is just my lack of dexterity . Otherwise I love the automatic door, which these transmitters are used to open. Do not know how I went so long without one!!

    Convenient
I love having this pet door. Your pets can go in and out as they please, and you don’t have to worry about stray animals and makes getting in. Your pet will have their own electronic collar to activate the door.

The door that keeps on spending.
Details:Purchased – 2013Model: PX2- LargeDogs: Doberman (dog breed should definitely be taken into consideration for wear and tear potential)Story:I dont write many reviews, but I have come to a boiling point with High Tech. Reader be warned.I will try to be as neutral as I can.Door has an over all good construction and works for its purpose. Up, down, locks. Easy enough?Over my now four year span with this door i have done the following:Replaced the bolts that hold in the door with larder more heavy duty to have a better seal and strengthened the door significantly. I had to do this after a power outage and the battery backup i had purchased failed (bad battery from high tech) My 80 pound lean dobby decided he didnt want to stay outside in the rain to he kept jumping on the door till the dog door backing busted off. He then dried himself off on the couch after coming in. Door bolts replaced and that issue is no more. Kicking the door in would be a challenge after that.Bad /Mixed parts:Iv had to replace several parts on this door. Motor 2x, sensors 3x, and main board 2x (once due to new motor not being compatible with the old one, via high tech diagnosed that) This is war and tear damage from having dogs CONSTANTLY in and out. I can let that slide on the review rating. “is what it is” costSensors:Sensors are horrid. Iv since day one had to keep the sensors on MAX for the door to open 12 inches from the opening. Same from outside. Otherwise the door when they are smack dab in front of it would not open. So after a few years of doing this and some extra parts I added in a second sensor and mounted it on the side. Totally fixed the range issue by adding a new LOS (line of sight)Collars:Ok so now comes the hate speech. Im NINE collars deep at this point. Yep, NINE. 9. 09. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.I have doberman. They run, jump, rough play with each other, and so on. These collars break like the cheap plastic they are. Now due to my own collar modifications the last 3 have lasted 4 times longer then the rest.Modification: I take the collars and wrap them in Silicone Rubber Self Fusing Tape around all the edges and the middle. I then I take an exacto knife and cut out the silver sensor, test button, and led light. This then gets attached with zip ties to their collars. As you can see this becomes a PAIN in the ass when you need to change the battery.Inevitably the collar breaks or stops working over time.High Tech PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DOG GET YOUR COLLAR FIXED.You say on your website: “Plexidor’s biggest drawback is its price, a whopping $1200.00! We have no idea why it costs so much or why anyone would spend this kind of money when the Power Pet door, at 1/3 the price, performs so much better, looks so much better and gives you so many more features.” Iv seen the reviews for that door and they dont seem to have near as much replacement cost issues as this product.I have my parents and two friends that have purchased this products and we all have the same issue. The collars are total crap in the current configuration. Had i known my “1/3ed price door” was going to cost me over 1000 in maintenance costs to keep the system going I would have never bought this system that now my dogs depend on.It would be awesome to talk to some “engineers” and get this product where it should be.Again now i have to order another collar so 50 down the drain.

Great door, very poor quality and design of dog collar sensor
My dogs love to play and the sensors do not last, they are only usable on the tiny thin included collar. The sensors are not waterproof or anywhere near I have had to replace them multiple times. Does anyone know where we can get a case for the sensor to allow us to install on our dogs regular collar?

I was surprised at its size. Our lil guy doesn’t seem to even notice it. The ONLY thing I do not like, is that the manufacturer, chose to create a “casing” for the battery, thereby highly increasing the price of the battery. Fortunately, I was able to find others on the internet who also hated this and were able to use a standard battery (I can’t remember the number now) and they used an Exacto knife to remove the special “casing” that the factory uses. Being careful not to destroy it. They, they found another battery that is the same size and specs. They put the casing back on, and while no one seems to be able to spot weld it again, taping it seems to work just fine. I was able to order some extra batteries from E-bay that were at a more resonable price. But when it comes time to replace, I’ll try to removing the case thing. 😉

a big improvement on the older version. if you have snow, and a dog that loves to play in it, spend a few extra dollars for this unit, it will last longer and wont get broken apart for doggy snow bank or back yard grass neck rubs, The biggest issue with all there collars is that metal disk sitting out front. Static from dog rubbing self on rugs has burned 2 units out, so I need to keep a spare on hand.

Pleased to see that the company is now making the actual collar with a “breakaway snap instead of the ring end that they did before. It is still not truly “breakaway though, and a cat could still possibly be hung if they got caught in branches. Over all this is a really good product thoug, and customer support is awesome. will order again when the Demon cat loses her house key!
