AmazonCustomer in Seattle –
These sound great
I was a bit nervous ordering speakers that I hadn’t gotten a chance to touch/feel/love. Setup was a little difficult at first, but once I got the hang of what I needed to do, I was able to factory reset and get them configured the way I wanted on the home network I wanted. There’s a function to group the speakers for a better quality sound and to have that group of speakers act as the default playback unit. Hollering for Google to turn on lights and such is just as good and now can happen in any room of our house. Pairing these is just as good as the Alexa powered product. The only thing that the Google speakers don’t seem to have is the built-in Zigbee controller like Alexa products. I imagine my network will get a little crowded with the Google speaker products and wifi switches and outlets, but I’ll deal with that if/when it happens. All around a decent speaker when purchased in pairs.

The assistant is good; but not as good as internet radio
It can’t find networks like live 365.
Aquamankilla –
Great sounds, very responsive
I was impressed at how quick it responds, and the sound quality was superb. Definitely an upgrade to the older models.

Device is not actually brand new./ Speaker has robotic audio
A Most Unfortunate Encounter with a Google Nest Smart SpeakerI recently acquired a Google Nest smart speaker, brimming with anticipation for its seamless integration into my smart home ecosystem. Alas, my enthusiasm was swiftly dampened by a series of rather unwelcome complications.A Most Irritating Initial SetupHaving procured the device via a third-party purveyor on Amazon on the tenth of January, two thousand and twenty-five, it duly arrived on the eleventh. Upon attempting the initial configuration, I encountered a most frustrating obstacle: the Google Home application simply refused to acknowledge the device’s presence. This necessitated a reset, a process that proved surprisingly arduous. The reset button’s rather cunningly concealed location rendered it a veritable exercise in detection.Audio Anomalies and Warranty WoesFollowing the aforementioned reset, a mere twenty minutes of operation revealed a rather disconcerting auditory anomaly. The speaker’s output was choppy and robotic, a far cry from the pristine audio fidelity one expects from such a sophisticated piece of technology. Adding insult to injury, I subsequently discovered the remaining warranty period to be a mere four hundred and eight days, a lamentable discrepancy from the advertised one-year guarantee.A Vendor of Questionable ReputeIt is of paramount importance to highlight that this particular product was marketed as “new” by a seller operating under the rather ironic moniker of “Always on Sale” (a name that now seems rather ill-fitting; perhaps “Always Attempting to Deceive Patrons” would be more apposite) and fulfilled by Amazon. Based on this decidedly unpleasant experience, I would strongly advise prospective purchasers to exercise extreme circumspection when considering this particular vendor. Their business practices appear to be, shall we say, less than transparent, potentially involving the rather unscrupulous sale of pre-owned goods under the guise of being brand new.A Necessary Return and Repurchase StrategyGiven these accumulating grievances, I shall be returning this most unsatisfactory product and seeking a replacement from a more reputable and, indeed, trustworthy source. This will likely involve a direct purchase from the manufacturer or a visit to a reputable brick-and-mortar establishment, where one can, at least, inspect the goods prior to acquisition.A Word to the Wise: Caveat EmptorWhile the Google Nest smart speaker itself undoubtedly holds considerable promise, my personal experience serves as a cautionary tale. When embarking upon such a purchase, opting for a product directly sold and fulfilled by Amazon, or, better still, the manufacturer themselves, is undoubtedly the most prudent course of action. This approach significantly mitigates the risk of encountering similar misfortunes and greatly increases the likelihood of a seamless and, dare I say, agreeable customer journey.TL;DR: A Disappointing Device and a Dubious VendorMy recent foray into the world of smart audio via the purchase of a Google Nest has been thoroughly disappointing. The device exhibited clear indications of prior use despite being marketed as new, and the vendor’s (Always on Sale, or rather, “Always Attempting to Deceive Patrons”) business practices are, to put it mildly, highly questionable. I implore future buyers to proceed with the utmost caution and prioritise purchasing directly from Amazon or Google to avoid experiencing similar tribulations.
