subtle, it diffuses scents like a reed
I got my little item and it came with a tiny bottle of peppermint oil which i didn’t use, but also a flat plastic tool [orifice popper?] for gently popping off the plastic orifice [plastic thing on the bottle that only lets drops come out].Do you need to know how this diffuser works? I can’t explain in terms of physics but it’s simple. The grey container has a lip on it to hold up the grey lid which has a wide hole for the pinecone’s wick. Both lid and container are glazed porcelain. the pinecone is unglazed, and has a thick cotton wick coming out of it’s “booty” (the middle of the bottom). dump oil or liquid into container, place grey lid on top, place pinecone on top, with wick straight down into the liquid. The physics part is the liquid/oil traverses up the wick, to the pinecone. The unglazed pinecone fully saturates with oil after a few days. It changes color from white to … a tinge of beige because my essential oils had a tinge of color to them. When pinecone is saturated from the base, the smell shows up. I use the orifice-cap popper to temporarily pop off the orifice from my essential oil bottles, dump my less-appreciated essential oils into the cavity of the porcelain diffuser, then the grey lid with a hole on it, then the ceramic pinecone-tampon-thing on top of the lid with the wick in the oil.I used my porcelain diffuser in the bathroom because I needed something with a subtle scent, non-electric (not enough electric plugs in the bathroom), and able to last for weeks, day in day out.I think what scents you use make a difference. I have a 4oz bottle of rosemary and 4oz of lavender, plus tiny 0.5oz of jasmine absolute, geranium oil, basically fruity/florals. I also add a few drops of ylang-ylang because it’s strong. Rosemary is the base, but the florals really help create an aura that extends outside the bathroom to the hallway, at least with jasmine, which is a welcome change.I haven’t tried a reed diffuser in my home bathroom but i’ve seen them at hotels. i hate fake scents, so i use essential oils. But i mention the reed diffuser because physically they work the same as this unfinished ceramic pinecone with a wick in a tub of essential oils.I think this is a pretty convenient solution. I know people who really stink up a bathroom and people who barely stink it up, it’s a spectrum of stink-capability. If a group of 3 lower-end stinkers use the same bathroom, this is a solution. But which oils you use, and oil ratios, also make a difference.

Spectacular product
I needed a small diffuser and hate all the sticks of regular diffusers. This is cute, is very small & provides great scent. I bought a second for another room!

IMPRESSIVE!
I don’t often leave reviews but this product warranted it. I wanted something that wasn’t plugged in to have a subtle fragrance at my desk. This little gem is outstanding. Does a great job at releasing a scent that is not overpowering and is enough to make me happy at my desk. Others have mentioned it as well. Will be buying more oil to put in it for sure as it wears down.

I wouldnât recommend!
I really wanted to like this passive diffuser. I was looking for something that wasnât electrical so I bought this.Itâs a nice piece for a desk but not for diffusing or fragrance purposes. It requires way too much oil and time to work as a scent diffuser. I put a few drops of essential oil as indicated and that served to wick up to the string only. No scent was noticeably in a tiny toilet closet room (which is about 5âx3â by the way) I put more oil and water next. Still no scent a day or 2 later. I tried with a much stronger essential oil. Not much scent. I ended up putting a few drops of oil on top of white porcelain flower. The scent was more noticeably. But for this you can just put drops on a cotton ball. The amount of essential oil I used was enough to use my regular diffuser for a week.It looks cute but thatâs about it.Would not reccomend for a gentle aroma. You will use your whole bottle in less than a week. And if you put water you run the risk of getting mold like other reviews. Not worth it!

I love these little cuties
I bought for six dollars at Marshall’s of course there was only one. No mess, gives off amazing fragrance. I used a red current oil byRed Currant (Made in USA) 3 Bottles 1/2 Fl Oz Each (15ml) Premium Grade Scented Fragrance Oil (Unique and Powerful Berry Aroma)Brand: Crazy CandlesFirst I pour it on the flower and it absorbs pretty fast. I take the rest of the bottle and pour it inside. Great for small office, bathroom, closets and garage when the weather is hot. No more candles. No soot burning in the air. Cheers.

Would have been perfect except for mold growth
I purchased this diffuser at the beginning of October for my desk at work. I have been pleased with it until recently when the diffusing top started growing mold. To the good: I like the size and the design – it fits very well on my desk, is pleasing to look at, and adds a peaceful energy to my workspace. I have it in front of my computer and can faintly smell the diffusing oil (I put about 10 drops of oil in the basin and fill the rest of the way with water). I could probably add more oil in to create a stronger smell, but am trying to be mindful of my office mates. Now for the bad…I have been using this diffuser for just under two months and it is growing mold on the diffusing top, in between and on top of the succulent petals. There is both gray/black colored mold and orange/reddish colored mold. Maybe this is due to the fact that to work as a diffuser the ceramic is unglazed and holds moisture? My office also get no natural light or sunlight, which probably doesn’t help this issue. I am going to try soaking the diffusing top in either baking soda and water or soap and water and see if I can remove the mold. I want to continue using this diffuser because I have been enjoying it. I will update this review later with the results…

So cute!
I love this thing!! Itâs a nice alternative to air freshener. It does go through a whole bottle within about 3-4 weeks. I dump the whole bottle and the smell stays around for that amount of time. Nice that itâs not battery operated or anything

A bit pricey but worth it. Have used it for a couple of days now and mixed the peppermint essential oil with a bit of water to have a subtle scent and nothing overpowering, have it now sitting in the washroom. Very pretty decorative porcelain pot. I hope it works for the 2 weeks it says it should last before having to apply more oil.

The item was delivered damaged & although the return was accepted I had to pay $40 in shipping which is unfair.
