We have a stray cat that shows up every fall, and leaves in February each year. Feeding him is a challenge as opossums steal his food when weâre not home. Programming this feeder so it feeds him only during daylight hours fixes most of the problem. Itâs design also makes it impossible for the opossums to tip it over, or get into it. The only negative thing I have to say is that the membrane switches used for programming do not work as well as they do on most other products. Itâs not that big of an issue as most people would program it only once.

Update:I’m at the airport to head home and checked the cameras. I was grateful to see the Robot Feeder Gods felt my cat was worthy of food today and the lid turned.Since I’m not okay with my little dude getting fed sporadically (36 hours since the last feeding…??? Holy hell…), this sadistic device is getting returned.Original Review:I received what appears to be a newer version of this. I set the current (military) time, then put in some practice times (can only do 5 min increments), and they went great. The day of my 48 hr work trip, I selected 2 feedings/day (had up to 5 as an option), and put in 6:00 and 18:00. Day 1 went great and my cat seemed to be fascinated by and love the feeder. It rotated exactly as it should have. But yesterday morning I checked the kitchen camera and the lid hadn’t moved since the night before. He still had a few pieces of kibble left from dinner, but not enough to get him through breakfast, let alone dinner. I’d hoped maybe at 6pm it would turn, but nope.I feel so horrible for my cat. He’s such a good, sweet boy and this is the first time I’ve left him alone. He always comes with me on every vacation, but we’re tent campers. A few months back, we stayed in someone’s home overnight to babysit and their kids refused to leave him alone in his room even after several talks. My cat clearly has made a negative association with other houses as a result, because when I took him to my friends’ house last weekend to visit so he’d feel safe when I left him there this week, he hissed and grumbled from the second he saw we were entering a house until we exited the door. That was 3 hours, even with him getting to sit out in the porch overlooking a beautiful garden with lots of birds and squirrels, and me giving him ear rubs and treats that he was clearly enjoying. So I figured he’d feel better just staying at home. Now I feel like a horrible person for stupidly trusting this device would work. I hope to god none of my flights are delayed, because I need to get my little buddy food asap.

1 slot always open, ice pack not great
Easy to program, works fine, but really only good for a day or 2. The one compartment is always exposed until the next cycle, was hoping it would close off completely except for a set amount of time each cycle. The ice pack is the annoying part. It’s very wide and has to fit into the feeder completely flat. Our freezer is not that wide so it froze with the edges up. Had to thaw it out under hot water so that it’ll lay flat for it to fit in the feeder, so it didn’t stay cool for long. Was hoping for a longer term wet food feeding solution, but this is fine for 1 or 2 days away.

Great for us, might not be the perfect solution for everyone
This automated pet feeder works really well for our cat. We like to go on quick weekend getaways or overnights to our cabin, and this feeder allows us to keep her on her routine without having to get our friends or neighbors to go check in on her at their leisure. The ice ring helps keep things fresh, but on multiple attempts only stays frozen for about the first 8-12 hours depending on the ambient temp in the house. It will stay âcoolâ for a bit after that but not cold. I would not want to count on this for any food that needs to be temperature controlled to be considered fresh for more than an overnight or two away from your pet. With previously refrigerated or frozen portions of food you might could squeeze out another day or two but that could be pushing it. Itâs weighted and doesnât move easily with my cat, but my food motivated frenchie could easily flip it if he felt so inclined. This wouldnât work for a large dog at all. Holds a good amount of wet/dry food for my 6 month old kitten, and might could work for the amount of food my frenchie gets if I portioned it out morning/noon/night, but again not really meant for larger dogs. Itâs pretty quiet so it doesnât startle my cat when it moves, but makes enough noise to alert her that there is now food available as long as she is in the same room as the feeder. I love how it comes apart making it easy to clean. This gives an added sense of freedom for a weekend away while still having the comfort of knowing my fur child is well fed

This automatic dog feeder is very handy and helpful if I wonât be home to feed my dog because it does it for me! Itâs very handy and helpful for me to have in the house and itâs super easy for me to use. I was able to set it up easily as itâs very straightforward and simple to do and I like how well my dog has responded to it. I like that it helps me with portion sizing too and itâs easy for me to clean. Itâs very lightweight and portable so I can take it to my neighbours when they look after the dog. The feeder works very well and Iâve not had any issues or problems with using it. The quality is very good because itâs very strong, sturdy and durable so I know it wonât break easily and should withstand a lot of usage. I think the design and style is pretty cool too so I definitely do recommend it. I think the value for money is brilliant and it gets a huge thumbs up from me!
