Perfect for a Kid-Friendly Smart Room â Engaging, Educational, and Fun!
I love this smart device for my toddlerâs room! The cute design and variety of fun voices make it super engaging. One of my favorite features is the ‘Daily News Just for Kids,’ which shares fun science facts and new discoveries each day. There are also plenty of kid-friendly skillsâlike Amazon Storytime for bedtime and music playback for favorite songs during the day. The first year of the subscription is free, with a small fee afterward (check the terms), but it’s definitely worth it. I also turned my toddlerâs room into a smart room, so he can ask Alexa to turn the lights on and off since he canât reach the switch yet. Itâs educational and convenient, and my child loves interacting with it!

This is for me , not a kid. The owl motif is adorable. The sound is GREAT! I was able to turn off the kids functionality and use it as a regular echo dot. I did have some difficulty unpairing it from my gen 2 echo dot ,but when done it runs well. Love this little guy!

Cute, and good value, but not the best sound
First of all, if you don’t have Amazon Kids subscription and want it, then buying this and getting a year free as a bundle is absolutely worth it. Especially look for deals during Prime Day / Holiday season.Next — the device works just like a regular echo dot. I think it’s essentially an echo dot with a kids friendly cover. I’ve got echo dots generation 2 and 3 (the hockey puck and the fatter hockey puck). Due to the cover on this device, the sound is more muffled and subdued than the other ones. Honestly, the gen 3 echo dot is probably the best sounding echo dot in my house.The reduced sound quality is why I rated it at 4 stars. It’s fine for kids. You also have a variety of kid friendly voices to choose from. The default one was kinda shrill, and changing it in the Amazon Alexa app into a voice I found more pleasing was very straightforward.Overall – buy if you have a kid and want the Amazon Kids subscription. That makes it a fantastic value. If you don’t have a kid, and want a cute speaker, that’s OK too. Unsure if the comparable echo dot gen 4s have better sound quality.

The set up took a bit longer than I expected. However my 5 year old was quick to pick up the process. I love the easy way I can set up parental controls as well as set timers for turning off. Great sound quality and small size to fit on her dresser.

The gift that keeps on giving! Works well with the other Alexa systems in our house. The parental controls through the Alexa app are awesome. Very easy to set up. My daughter uses this every day from music, stories, alarm clock, etc. to jokes and bed time stories. This is a great gift for kids!

I got this for my daughter and she loves it. She can call us with it, listen to books, know how many days until the next holiday, etc. She has a lot of fun with it. It’s really easy to set up, and listens to her really well. One thing to look out for is Alexa will give them the answers to their homework, so it’s not a good homework buddy.
