PIR Infrared Motion Sensor – PIR infrared motion sensor is at the top of the bulb, the motion detector works like a small electronic eye that detects infrared waves—heat waves that radiate from moving objects. The LED light bulb turns on automatically once movement is detected within 12 – 18ft. It shuts off 30 seconds later after no activity in the detecting scope. No need to switch on/off physically, smart bulb frees your hands.
Dusk to Dawn Sensor: Built-in a photocell sensor, the smart bulb automatically turns on at night (≤ 25lux) when movement is detected and off during the day (≥ 45lux) even with motion detected. It only turns on when the ambient light is dark, avoids unnecessary work in the daytime or when the ambient light is bright. The energy-efficient design avoids wasting of electricity.

    Works Well…
This is the info you’ll want: I have two of these lights in my 21’x13’ utility/laundry room- no fixtures to block the sensors, sockets are downward facing and 7’ high, and far enough from any windows that the sunlight doesn’t stop them from turning on. I got them for my cats. When they enter the room to use their litter boxes, the lights turn on. When they’re done, the lights turn off. They seem to enjoy having the overhead lights on as opposed to the nightlights. They don’t feel as vulnerable and hurry out as if they’re dodging an attack.Having more than one bulb to detect the motion helps. I have two bulbs (soon to be three) in my laundry room. Both bulbs turn on when I’m within 6-8’ of them. If I’m doing laundry, the bulb that is 9’ away from my appliances will turn off. The bulb that is 2.5’ from my appliances will stay on due to the continued motion. If I move 6” or so closer to the bulb that’s 9’ away, it turns back on. So expecting one bulb to stay on while you’re 12’ away on the other side of a room probably won’t work. You need a longer timed bulb (GE makes one that stays on for 5 mins) or multiple lights. So yes, these work well in the right circumstances. They stay on when I’m doing stuff within a 6-8’ radius of each bulb’s area. More than that, they’ll turn off.The fixtures over the bulbs and the placement when using a fixture will make a difference. If they are clear, they’ll probably work. If they aren’t, they probably won’t depending on the coverage and how high the socket is. The sensor is the nub on the top of the bulb. That sensor needs to be free from obstruction and pointing in a direction that allows it to detect motion. And, yes, always have the light switch in the ON position for the bulbs to work. No electricity means no light. Keep the switch ON or the light will stay OFF. No, these are not dimmable.Seeing that other reviewers tried the bulbs in their closets/pantries and weren’t happy, I tried the bulbs in mine. I tried it in my 7’x6.5’ closet that’s in a fairly well lit area due to many windows, but the closet doesn’t get direct light going into it. As soon as I opened the door, the light came on every time without hesitation. I tried it in a smaller 4’x4.5’ closet with a 10’ ceiling and a push button style switch. Without covering the bulb with fixtures, the light worked perfectly in both closets. One of the bulbs in my two pack was defective. It didn’t work at all. I contacted the seller directly via Amazon messaging and they sent me a replacement. Easy. No muss, no fuss.Check the bulbs before installing in hard to reach sockets. After installing, you’ll know the bulb is good bc it will turn on briefly when your switch is flipped to ON. After the bulb turns off on its own, you should then be able to activate it with motion. If not, check to see if the sensors are blocked by the fixtures or other items, the brightness of the surrounding area might be stopping them from working properly since they’re light sensitive, and make sure the bulbs are pointed in a position where they’ll be effective. If there’s still an issue, ask the seller.

It works exactly as said, and I am very impressed.
I tested these bulbs, and I am very impressed. It works exactly as said. The porch ceiling is 12 feet high. When I walk in, it turns on 6 feet away. (The sensor activates to turn ON at 12 feet in diameter.) The bulb will turn on only at night or when the light is very dim/dark since it also has a dusk-to-dawn photoelectric sensor.A very important thing to keep in mind is that the bulb has to be exposed, which means it cannot be covered with a casing. The sensor at the bottom of the bulb has to see you, for it to turn on.The bulb will stay On as long as someone is there, under the bulb. It will turn off after 30 seconds of no motion.

They work well but the range is practically zero
I just installed new front porch light fixtures that didn’t have a motion sensor built in and bought these at the same time. The fixtures are 4 panes of glass in the sides with an open bottom for the bulb. These light bulbs only turn on if you get within a foot or two of the fixture. I expected the range to be a little better. The only thing I can think of is that these won’t detect motion through glass and it’s only detecting through the uncovered opening at the bottom. It’s not a huge deal but I wish the range and angle was better.

    You will like 🙂
Excellent motion detection and light coverage. I use one in my pantry closet. No more fussing at that ‘crunchy’ string pull light fixture. My Cat likes this bulb too as it helps her maintain an accurate inventory of her treats (No i am not kidding :). In closing here.. The only advice Trump has for the Democrats is “Don’t Drop Your Soap”.

    Works as Advertised!
I have two light sockets in the ceiling of my garage. I used to use HUE LED lights that were hooked up to my HUE home hub in these sockets, but that meant every time I wanted to go out to the garage, I had to either turn the lights on through the app or switch the lights on manually. NOT ANYMORE, now I just leave the switch on, walk out into my garage and Wah-la, let there be light! The lights stay on for a few minutes if no motion is detected, plenty of time for me to get in my car and drive away. When I return, the lights sense my car entering the garage and turn on automatically. Even if I’m doing some light maintenance under the hood the lights stay on as long as I am moving. Works out very slick for my purposes!

A decent motion-sensor bulb, but with a couple of drawbacks
I purchased a 2-pack of these bulbs. I put one in my bedroom closet and it turns on reliably when I open the closet door. And it turns off quickly when I’m done in the closet. The drawback is that I’m not able to use the glass cover on the ceiling fixture. I had to leave the bulb bare or it would not automatically turn on. However, I’m living with it for now.I installed the second bulb on my rear porch. I tested its motion-sensing sensitivity and it came on when I walked within 15 or 20 feet of the porch. And it turned off quickly when I went indoors or left the area. The drawback is that when I’m indoors at night and want to take a quick look out the door window, maybe to investigate a noise, the bulb will not light if I flip the indoor switch off then back on. When the motion sensor is built into the light fixture, you are able to toggle the switch quickly and get the light to come on. Not so when the sensor is incorporated into the bulb. These were not very expensive and they do work OK. However, I probably will not buy more of them. I will stick to motion sensors that either are built into the light fixture or are part of an adapter module.

    Love these
I love these! I have one on the back porch and one in the utility room. They work well. Just know the bottom of the build have to be exposed so the motion can work. I will be buying more of this type bulb for sure

These motion detect bulbs are sized to fit as they are barely larger than the ‘standard’ size LED bulbs. I purchased the ‘daylight’ brightness ones and they produce a bright, white light. Many LED bulbs claim to be 800 lumens (the equiv. brightness of a 60W incandescent bulb) but are not that bright. These bulbs, however, are just as bright as an incandescent. (They actually seem brighter because of the white light instead of the yellowish, warm white of an incandescent.) The motion sensor tip on the bulb cannot be covered, so these need to be in an enclosure that is open for the sensor to ‘see’ movement. Mounted in a ceiling, they work very well. The sensor always triggers quickly and the bulb stays lit for about half a minute after movement stops. It will stay lit as long as there is movement. If the area is bright enough to not need illumination, the bulb will not turn on. If the area is darker than what it would be with the bulb on, it will turn on when motion is detected. These bulbs are not a ‘dusk to dawn’ bulb, but they will only come on if it’s not already bright enough in the area. I have one installed in a little hallway in my house and it provides plenty of illumination. I am well pleased with the performance of these and do recommend them if you need a good motion detect bulb with good light output.

I put these in my basement stairway and they are really good and sensitive. They pick up my cats going downstairs to use the litter box lol. I highly recommend if you are looking for a sensor light bulb

Terrific light for when my partner comes home from late on call shifts. It saves you energy but can be left on all night. It only works when the sun has set, which is genius, it never triggers in daylight. However, I have a front porch which is 40 feet from the sidewalk, people walking past or getting out of their cars often trigger the light, even from 40 feet away! I’ll have to block the sensor on that side.My neighbour shares a porch with me and didn’t have access to a light so now they can see when outside (taking bins out etc) and I no longer have to turn the light on each time I go out the front… Makes our apartment safer and more practical.Overall a brilliant light I just wish it was a little less sensitive.
