Determining Your DisplayPort (DP) Version:
The version of DP on your laptop, computer, or tablet directly determines the actual resolution when connecting to external monitors using the Anker hub. There are three simple ways to find out which version of DP your device has.
1. Ask your device manufacturer or seller directly.
2. If you’re using a Windows device, you can tell which version of DP you have by checking your CPU generation.
DP version 1.2 if your CPU is Intel generation 10 or earlier.DP version 1.4 if your CPU is Intel generation 11 or later.DP version 1.4 if you’re using a workstation laptop with an NVIDIA GPU.
Don’t know how to find your CPU generation? Simply go to This PC (or My Computer) > Properties and look for the number (shown in bold and underlined below):
Processer: Intel(R) Core i7-8850H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59Ghz
3. If you’re using a MacBook, iMac, or iPad, you can find your DP version from the list below:
DP 1.4:
iPad Pro 11-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later), MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019), MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017 and later), MacBook Pro (13-inch, 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports, 2020), MacBook Air (2020), MacBook Air (13-inch, M1, 2020), MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020), MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021), MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021), iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017 and later), iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017 and later), and iMac Pro (2017 and later)

Great inexpensive docket that works for my needs
Just started a new job. New work laptop. New employer did not provide a docketing station like my last employer to WFH. Already had 2 monitors Needed a docket station to connect to my new work laptop. Did not want to spend a whole lot as I was only going to be WFH for 2 days a week. Ordered a more expensive docket station that did not work. Monitors never connected to my laptop via that docket station when I hooked everything up the night before my WFH day. Needed a new one in a pinch otherwise I was going to have to go into the office. Ordered this one as it was overnight delivery to be delivered between 4-8am. Hooked everything up at 6am in the morning and everything worked, my monitors were connected to my laptop. Couple of things to note. This docket station does not come with a usb cable to connect to a power source, you need to provide that. This did not charge my work laptop when I was using it. I brought my work laptop charger home and was able to hook it up to charge while I was working. I just wish the USB-C cable that connects the docket to the laptop was a little longer as it does get a little warm, it did not overheat at the end of my workday, I am hoping it does not overheat. I may get another docket station in the future if it comes up for sale but for now, this works for my needs

Cant go wrong with Anker
things i like about this product is that its:1. small – easy to travel with2. passes power though to your laptop with an appropriate power supply so its one connection to your laptop3. cost is at a good price point for a “dock”4. no problems – plug-n-play no drivers or software to install to make it workI have never been disappointed in any of my Anker product purchases. always of quality and reliable. Highly Recommend

Stopped working properly after less than a year of owning
Update: Anker offered a replacement or refund for the product. I’ve had many Anker products and this is the first to experience issues like this. Will likely replace it with the same or similar docking station from Anker. It worked really well initially. Generally running 2 monitors off of my laptop for work. It recently started flickering one of the monitor screens every 10 or 20 minutes which wasn’t a huge deal. It now has issues supporting 2 screens and has really weird behavior that sometimes requires troubleshooting to get it going again. Expected it to work longer than it has

Works for 4k dual screen at 60hz
This does exactly what I wanted it to with zero problems – that is run two 4k monitors (One vertical orientation, one horizontal orientation) from my laptop which has a single USB-C output.Setup was simple and worked straight out of the box. I only use this for work, so do not have intensive demands, but I do not experience any issues with these screens only running at 60hz (No lag, no delay). All around, relatively inexpensive solution to the problem (Was worried I would have to buy a much more expensive hub to support this)

Just Like Mary Poppins — Practically Perfect in Every Way
I was looking for a simple dock for my laptop. I worked for a well-known company that developed a similar product for about 4x the price, so I expected to spend well over $100 for something like this. When I saw this Anker dock for much less than I expected to pay, I was skeptical that it would perform as I needed. I have my laptop and 2 x 32″ monitors as well as 2 x 500GB external SSDs and other miscellaneous USB devices. I also have a Dell USB C power supply that feeds power through the dock to my laptop. This dock required virtually no set up. I plugged everything in to the respective ports and everything worked just as expected. Now, when I work at my desk, there is one simple USB C plug to plug in rather than 6 (power, 2x HDMI, 2x USB, ethernet). For me, this worked just as expected and meets all my needs.

Great features but mostly unreliable
First off, this product has a really nice and sleek design. I liked the fact that it came with a travel sleeve. Functionality wise, it had everything that I was looking for. But I deducted two stars for several reasons:I use this for a triple screen setup (two external monitors + my laptop screen). I’ve had some intermittent issues ever since I purchased the product.Minor Issue 1: For whatever reason, the hub itself only works with both extra monitors if I plug it into one of the USB-C ports in my laptop, but not the other one. No big deal, I just always use the first port to make it work and there was no easy way for me to tell if it was my laptop’s issue or the hub.Minor Issue 2: I also had issue with my screens occasionally blacking out, and then reconnecting. This might happen several times a day, or not at all for over a week.Major Issue 1: Any time my laptop goes to sleep, it suddenly thinks that the other monitors are not connected. It goes straight back to displaying only on the monitor. The only way to resolve this was to unplug the hub and replug it. Kind of a pain to do every time I left my computer. My workaround was to make sure my computer never goes to sleep and instead set my screen saver to blank.Major Issue 2: Lastly, the most recent issue that has been bothering me is that now the Ethernet port seems to be intermittently dropping connection as well. This will resolve as soon as I unplug and replug the Ethernet cable into the hub. Of course, this issue started happening right after my 18-month warranty expired…Not the greatest experience with this particular hub.

The Anker 553 USB-C Hub has been an absolute game-changer for me. As someone who relies heavily on a variety of peripherals and external displays, this 8-in-1 USB C dock is perfect for my needs.First off, the dual 4K HDMI ports are incredible. I can effortlessly connect two 4K monitors, which has significantly boosted my productivity and made multitasking a breeze. The video quality is crystal clear, and there’s no lag or interference. The additional ports are just as impressive. The USB-C to USB adapter allows me to connect all my essential devices like my keyboard, mouse, and external hard drives without any issues. The transfer speeds are fast and reliable, which is crucial for my work. The 1 Gbps Ethernet port is another fantastic feature. It provides a stable and fast internet connection, which is a huge upgrade from relying on Wi-Fi. This has been especially beneficial for video calls and large file uploads. What really stands out is the hub’s build quality and design. It’s compact and sleek, making it easy to carry around with my laptop. The materials feel premium and durable, which gives me confidence in its longevity. In summary, the Anker 553 USB-C Hub is perfect for anyone needing a reliable, high-performance docking solution. It has made my workflow more efficient and streamlined, and I couldn’t be happier with its performance. Highly recommended!

This is my replacement hub for the Lention that stopped working after 18 months. I had rated that product 5 Star and it was truly great product till one day it decided not to deliver power from the PD port to laptop. Without power supply passing through, it was useless and I scrapped it. Then started my search for a new hub – the biggest challenge though how to identify one that combines good build quality and functionality with longevity. So, I decided to go with known non-chinese brands and Anker came top on the list. So far, the hub is working like a charm, just like Lention. I am hoping that this will last for at least 3 years to justify the price premium. One small gripe is that the USC C cable attached to the hub is too short (15 Cms, I guess). I keep my laptop in a vertical position with lid closed on a stand and work on the monitor. The USB C port on my laptop is on the upper end of the laptop and when I connect the hub, the hub keeps dangling awkwardly. Had to go with 0.5 M extension cable! I will update this review if this fails in less than 3 years!
