This video doorbell is awesome
I got tired of Ring increasing prices while decreasing service so I decided to give this a try. It was very easy to install, easy to setup on the wi-fi, and works perfectly. The video is clear and in full color during the day and at night. Adding a memory card eliminates the need for the cloud storage service. The one time investment of this video doorbell and a memory card is absolutely worth it.

Easy installation, clear pictures and video
After waaaaaay too much research that involved reading reviews by sites like CNET and PCMag, reading consumer reviews, and putting everything in spreadsheets, I decided on this doorbell camera. It has the functions I wanted except for a nighttime spotlight (which only one doorbell camera on Amazon has). All pros, no cons:1. Easy set up; app is responsive and easy to navigate.2. Doesn’t need a hub or base.3. Comes with door chime; chime just needs to be plugged into an outlet, no need to be connected with ethernet cable.4. Local storage on SD card; the slot is in the door chime. No subscription required, but you can pay for cloud storage. Manufacturer does provide free cloud storage of a still picture of the most recent event detected.5. The AI detection is accurate; picks up on people but not dogs (of which there are many in my neighborhood and many walk past my door regularly).5. Color pics and vids at night, if I turn on the porch light. Pics and vids are very clear during the day and at night (whether in color or infrared). I can zoom in on a pic or vid and just about make out the house number of my neighbor across the street.I didn’t want to use the provided mounting brackets and screws, so I used 3M Command strips instead (the ones made for outdoor use).Unsure about longevity of the camera or battery life because I’ve only had it for about a month. However, based on my observations so far, this is a great doorbell camera. YMMV.

Really like it so far
Update 9/28/2024: we’re still very happy with these almost 2 years later. They still work wonderfully and a couple of the issues I noted in my original review have been fixed with app updates. Batteries need to be recharged about once every 30-45 days, but the doorbell doesn’t need to be removed from the mount to charge, and it still works even when it’s plugged in. Get a flat usb cord and run the cord between the door and frame so you can charge from within the house and you’ll be able to use your doorbell uninterrupted.I 100% recommend this doorbell and this brand (we’ve since gotten another Aosu camera and it also works flawlessly).Original review: So far so good! We grabbed two of these while they were on sale for Black Friday since we have a front and back door. We also tested out the other similar brand that also comes with a chime with local storage and the aosu is far better. I was actually expecting the other one to be better as the company generally makes great products and their doorbell has more features (like the ability to adjust clip length up to two minutes, more on that later). However, we found that the motion detection, alert speed and loading speed are so much better on the aosu that it outweighed the extra bells and whistles of the other brand. There are some false alerts (usually large delivery trucks passing by), but thatâs inevitable when youâre translating a 2d detection area over an image of a 3d world. Setting the motion detection to âhuman onlyâ cuts down on false alerts significantly. The important thing for us is that it hasnât missed a legitimate event yet. The other brand sent almost no false alerts but it also didnât record unless someone was actually within arms reach of the bell even though the detection area was set for the whole driveway. So someone could tamper with my car in the driveway or steal it outright and Iâd have no video of it. Iâd rather get an alert when someone is walking up to the door or when someone enters the driveway, which is exactly what we get with the aosu doorbell. So for me, the few false alerts are not a big deal as long as itâs capturing the important things as well.Pros:-Doesnât miss events.-Records the entire event from start to finish (broken up into clips).-Chime is volume adjustable. The highest setting is loud enough to be heard from a different floor.-Modern, sleek design.-Battery life seems fine so far but I havenât had it long. Will update if this changes.-Speaking of the battery, I like that the charging port is on the bottom of the unit. So if you have a long enough cord that you can run to an outlet, you really don’t even need to take it down from the mount to charge it.-Crystal clear picture.-Voice changer feature is an incredible safety feature for women. The clown setting is cute and funny for joking around with family, but the uncle setting really does make a womanâs voice sound manly and may help with scaring off any creeps looking for an easy target.-Set up could not have been easier.-Simple, intuitive app.-Able to use up to a 128g sd card, which is a lot. So far we’ve used about 0.5g in a week, and that’s with testing it out and recording way more than it would during normal use. So the 8g card that comes included should be able to hold about 4 months of video clips with heavy usage.Cons:-No ability to increase clip recording length. It only records up to a minute, then it will record another clip (with a couple of seconds in between) if the activity continues. I would prefer to record a longer clip.-When saving a video, it additionally shaves off 2-3 seconds from each clip. So that combined with the fact that it only records up to a minute means you end up losing several seconds between each clip.-When talking through the speaker, it only records the voice of the person at the door but it cuts your voice out.-I would like to be able to see the actual battery percentage in the app, rather than just a battery icon.-The IR night vision mode flicks on and off every few seconds if thereâs street lights. I just turned it off altogether since we always have our porch lights on so it still gives a clear picture at night, but this issue needs to be fixed for people who donât keep their lights on.-The tamper proof alarm is a good idea (and itâs LOUD), but it would be great to be able to manually trigger the alarm as well for scaring off lurkers and thieves.-This is very minor but I would also like to be able to re-order the list of cameras, since we have two (one for the front door and one for the back door). All of the cons should be able to be fixed through app and firmware updates, and if they are, then this would hands down be one of the very best video doorbells on the market, so I do hope that those things will be addressed. It seems the company updates the app every 2 weeks to 1 month, which is good because it shows the company is committed to improving based on feedback. So far, weâre very happy with these video doorbells and look forward to even more improvements in the future.

Perfect item to add in my household.
The process of installation was quite simple if I may state, and the fact that it is wireless means that I do not have to be concerned about the complexity of wires at any point. The volume of the chime is loud enough that Iâve never been able to miss a single person who comes to my door. The good thing about the entire system is that you do not have to pay a fee to maintain the account and cloud storage. In addition, both the doorbell and the camera I purchased are working perfectly. Iâve got no difficulty seeing faces and distinguishing details even from some distance thanks to the 2k resolution which depicts every single detail in videos beautifully. An ultra-wide 166° angle saves the day by preventing blind spots providing full coverage of my door step.

I purchased my first Aosu doorbell camera in late February and it worked well for the first three days, but then there might be an issue with the battery that the doorbell wouldnât turn on when unplugged from the USB. I contacted their online support and received a quick response within an hour. They were super friendly and helpful, and they offered me an replacement and shipped it out the next business day.Iâve been using the new Aosu doorbell for two weeks now, and so far, it works smoothly and battery’s still hanging at a solid 100% (we have an average of 5-10 activities detected each day, and the current weather in my area is around 5°C). The installation and setting process are straightforward, allowing you to adjust the detectable zone to avoid any unwanted alerts. Both the image quality and night vision are good, and the motion detection is sensitive enough to pick up all visitors. You might want to test the camera before screwing it down, as at certain angles, the sunlight might be very bright, making human faces shadowy. The home base comes with an 8GB SD card, so you got local storage and loop recording without a subscription fee, but you would need to subscribe to get cloud storage and facial recognition. The app is well designed and itâs easy to review video clips in the app and save them on your phone when needed. With the price, the quality, and the amazing customer service, Iâm very happy with this purchase.

The cole’s notes:- Camera quality is high- Extremely easy to use and install- Easy to connect to existing wifi- App is relatively user friendly- Really good customer serviceI bought this 13 months ago and I was super impressed with it overall from a usability and quality perspective. All of a sudden, the camera went offline and couldn’t be reconnected. I worked with my internet provider who advised after extensive review, determined it was the camera’s issue.I reached out via email to AOSU customer support and Lynette was very helpful. After discussion, she agreed to send a replacement camera even though the warranty time had expired. Ultimately, if buying a camera such as this, I would expect it to work for more than 13 months.Ultimately, this is a solid camera that is easy to use and cost effective. Customer service is reliable. I would recommend this product. Only reason it’s 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact that a camera was not usable after 13 months, but very happy that it was replaced.

I purchased this device originally in 2023, but there was a malfunction, and when I contacted Aosu support they did not hesitate and immediately sent me a replacement device! I find their support and customer service to be exceptional! The wireless doorbell camera also works really well. The video quality is great, and the setup was super easy. Highly recommend!

I can’t say enough good things about the Aosu Pro, and would give this product 6 stars out of 5 if I could. So happy that I’ve switched over from the R**g doorbell, that I’ve even convinced two other people so far to do the same, and will continue to convert as many people as I can.In short, this video doorbell does everything wonderfully: It picks up motion and it alerts us promptly with clear images and video. It has all the features that R**g does, and even these added advantages over R**g:- widescreen format offers a larger viewing area than R**g- night view is clearâso much better than R**g’s night vision- comes with an 8GB SD card to record your video and images (no subscription necessary just to do this, unlike that competitor!). See first photo.- comes with a homebase so you don’t have to buy a separate “Chime” (unlike that competitor)- has a special tool to easily remove the doorbell for charging, instead of having to unscrew those tiny R**g screws- strong battery life! My R**g battery lasted about 10-14 days before needing charging. Under the same weather conditions, so far my Aosu has lasted much longer (product description says up to 180 days, so we’ll be eager to see if this is the case).- can differentiate types of appearances at the door, and tells you if someone is “passing”, “lingering” or “staying”- has a feature to enable “human only” presence at the door, and eliminate other types of alerts- has three pre-set messages that you can choose at any time to answer when someone rings the doorbell (instead of choosing just 1 of 3 preset messages, like R**g)- has the different voices of male or “clown” to disguise your own voice should you wish to- has an audible alarm that you can enable, if someone were to remove the doorbell- if you have multiple doorbells, allows you to watch live views simultaneously on a single screen (without having to separately click “Tap to Go Live” on each unit each time, like the competitor). See 2nd photo. And if you do want to pay for the Cloud subscription, you get even more features, including more storage and more intelligent features like facial recognition. In addition, the customer support was phenomenal! I had issues with the network connection not working after the first week, and I contacted the support team by e-mail. They responded in less than 24 hours, and offered me a replacement unit within 5 days (it arrived in less than that!).In summary, I think this is the best video doorbell you can get for under $150. By cancelling my R**g subscription when they notified me of the price increase, I got a prorated refund and put it towards the Aosu. Since I no longer have to pay an annual subscription fee and don’t have to buy a separate Chime, I actually feel like I made money, and for a better unit! The best thing R**g ever did was raise its subscription price so that we were forced to look for an alternative, and we discovered how much better Aosu is.
