Very reliable and stable router. Perfect Aimesh function.
Have installed 2 of these in two different homes one as primary router and the 2nd as a mesh node. Networks are super stable and reliable. These are not the most powerful Asus routers but they are reliable. Very rarely need restarting and get advertised speeds on both a 300 and 500 internet connection. Have good range to cover over 3000 sq ft as a router/mesh setup. Many security and configuration settings via the web interface. Had a higher end AX-3000 router and had many issues with the 2.4ghz dropping signal. These do not have that issue and work as they should. Recommend

    Meshing ASUS routers
The app is really simple to mesh numerous Asus routers together. I’m indifferent on brands. I’m pretty sure I bought a Asus AX58 router in a retail store and eventually as I’ve encountered dead zones at home, I grab one of these when they go on sale and hit the add button in the phone app. I’ve tested it streaming to a VR headset in the same room as this router and a desktop. Stream effectively lossless video over. I have one of these a floor lower connected to a mini-pc and a TV, no noticeable latency or artifacting streaming over the local network. I also work from home and instead of dealing with flash drives, I cable all my computers to routers and transfer over the network. So much faster. WebDAV or Samba to transfer files to/from phones.Someday I’d like to run cat6 through the walls with ports all over the place like I’m in office at work. That’s a future dream. For now a bunch of meshed routers works well for me.

Beats the ISP provided router in every way
We have had over 10 different techs out to our place over the past year to troubleshoot poor connectivity. They’ve done everything from managing the box outside, ripping out and replacing cables in the walls and attic, swapping the router/modem several times and nothing consistently helped. Finally caved and bought my own router. The difference has been night and day. No packet loss, no random disconnections despite the modem having internet access, no getting interrupted in the middle of online exams….. It’s been awesome. And with the money saved from renting a router, this thing pays for itself in 10 months. Easy decision. The setup was quick and easy but you do have to install their app. The interface was fine on the app and everything was easy to navigate. I looked around for a while before settling on this one and it works great.

    Good Router, Good WiFi Expansion
I now have 2 of these dudes (1 I bought a while ago, and 1 more I recently bought to expand WiFi range). Easy setup, standard features. Speeds are always solid.Added a 2nd one to increase my WiFi area. Added to the AiMesh with the first router insanely easily.

Proper Installation = A great product
This product will increase the speed of devices that are connected to it compared to older models. You must use the TP link app to set it up properly. Best thing is that you can get help from a live support person who will walk you through the process step by step. Once connected properly you will have full control of your devices that are paired to this WiFi modem using the app to monitor or make changes in the future. Extremely satisfied with the product.

Older Asus routers worked flawlessly as both a main router and AP. These newer models not so much.
It works good when it works. Using two of these with one in AP mode you might as well flip a coin on if it’s gonna connect right. Randomly devices will not have Internet access while other will. Sometimes it’ll cause your devices to forget the WiFi and you’ll have to reenter the password. There’s no time or reason to it. It’ll work for days not problem then pick a device at random to wipe or not give internet to. This is without adjusting default settings at all beyond setting a name and password that’s the same for both routers and selecting the “AP” option for one of them. I believe this is a failure of whichever router acts as the main router as the problem persists when I used an older Asus router as AP. The older Asus router I used for this same setup had none of these issues. Unfortunately they don’t make that version anymore and now I’m stuck with these newer models that can’t seem to work as well.Update. The router has constant connection drops. It will disconnect all wifi devices and refuse to reconnect until rebooted. The need to reboot becomes and more frequent over time. The router has been in operation less than 6 months. I have used Asus routers for many years now but this will be the last one I ever own from them.

    Solid router (however…)
I upgraded from a Linksys EA7300. My motherboard is ASUS and my GameFirst VI wanted me to have a ASUS ROG router. GameFirst VI likes this router and it seems that I am getting significantly better network performance than before. It was a bit of a cheaper one and it was on sale. I didn’t have 400 or 500 dollars to spend on a router. Also, I like the configuration pages, however the apply button was not functioning for most settings. Perhaps a future firmware update could fix this.I have Xfinity and I am getting ~438.69Mb/s down and ~49.67Mb/s upload whereas with the Linksys router I was getting approximately 350Mb/s down.EDIT: After contacting ASUS, convening with them on the phone for over an hour, mailing the router to them and awaiting a replacement (I checked the RMA and it said it has been repaired), but I was continuing to experience the malfunction. I am wondering if this was caused by it being a relatively cheap model, although I paid for it and it should function as expected. I am hoping this will be corrected via a necessary firmware update. I was unable to apply most settings on the config pages. After clicking apply several times and then navigating to another page, when navigating back the setting was unchanged (ex. wireless mac filter).UPDATE: No current issues. Getting around 800Mb/s download speed.

Cdlt

I’m quite happy with this ASUS router as I’ve used other products from them for years and have never had any issues. I loved that it updates its software settings and that you can even control the led brightness. It is pretty good for a medium size home. I would definitely recommend this product! 🙂
