Fast router
Old router was dropping/resetting Wi-Fi so I spent a lot of time looking for a new router. I don’t need wifi7 or to spend $1000 on a new one. The old one had a really slow web interface and was a pain to do anything. This one has recent hardware, a good price (especially on sale), and is significantly faster and has more options. Most new routers require an app to set up and that was a no go for me. Completely unnecessary to install an app and create some internet accounts just to set some settings/IPs locally. So this one was easy to get into the web interface by Ethernet or wireless to set everything up. I’m shocked at how responsive the interface is. I’ve had very steady and strong wifi coverage. I have a couple devices plugged in via Ethernet and have had no issues. Easy to pull firmware updates. I’ve done some MAC filtering and DHCP reservations, and while not quite as intuitive as I’ve seen in the past it was also fairly simple. It doesn’t matter to me but this is slightly smaller than my last router, but design wise it still has the standard external antennas that is not as decorative as some of the new ones, but again that wasn’t important to me.

Works well after a few adjustments
I like the range of this unit. The signal extends outside of my home much farther than my old TP wifi could. No buffering on the tv with this Asus RT-AX3000 and cell phones have a good strong signal. It also has the WPA3 option for better security. At first, I set this up with the quick start guide. Once everything was up and working, I did have to go back into advanced settings, then to wireless, and set my control channels for each band. I found that when the control settings were originally set to “auto”, I had some signal dropoff at times with my phone. Since that happened, I’ve set the 2.4Ghz band to 1 and the 5Ghz band to 161 and this helped out quite a bit. I have a wifi analyzer app that I downloaded which tells me what wifi channels my neighbors are on. I picked channels that my neighbors weren’t using and I’m now having success with this wifi unit. Only time will tell, but so far so good.

My favorite brand
I was hesitant to buy this, considering cheaper alternatives from brands with good reputations. The price difference is $20.I love the appearance of this router; it looks very modern. The connectivity is stable and really fast, especially on 5G. The 2.4 GHz band has a good range but is slower compared to 5G. It was easy to set up and very straightforward I used the app instead of the browser to configure it. It comes with everything you need.So far, so good! Iâm enjoying gaming with high-speed and stable connections.

Not a bad modem
The main reason for purchasing this router was to improve connectivity as our TV would often drop while streaming on the old router (model 1750).Received router, opened and set up. Router came with everything needed (cable and method to download app). The four antennas were a breeze to arrange. Unit is light weight and more compact than the older router it replaced.Internet speed from cable modem to router is +/- 607 Mbps. Performance testing was conducted after updating both laptop and router firmware (3.0.0.4.388_25139). Tests were conducted using a gaming laptop sitting three (3) feet from the router and at the same height. Protocols were Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for 5G and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) for 2.4G. The results shown are the fastest speed obtained from three consecutive tests. A test was also conducted using a new gaming PC hardwired directly into modem and is shown at right.TEST WEBSITE 5G Band (Mbps) 2.4G Band PC hardwired to cable modemfast.com 410 100 470speedtest.net 474 104 607sparklight.com (Provider) 446 105 607First impressions (not based upon testing): This router is more stable than the model AC1750 it is replacing based TV not dropping (except when modem was intentionally reset). The ping seen by computer seems slightly better – but this is an impression not verified by testing. Visually the router sits unpretentiously in its place and has small but easily visible indicator lights.Summary: Setup was slightly more difficult than the older modem (model AC1750) it is replacing. Router has an App (which is nice) but it far less intuitive than the software for the AC1750. Asus does request PIA (i.e. birthdate and phone and email addresses) to register the product. Wireless speeds are slightly below hopes. First impression is that router does seem more stable than the old router it is replacing. The router also includes security features such as VPN (to be setup in the future and part of why this unit was chosen.)Overall rating: RECOMMENDED.

Working great
After a recent move and an upgrade to Spectrum 1gb service it was time to update my previous 5 year old Asus router. I read some various online reviews which gave this one a pretty decent rating. I’m familiar with the Asus brand and I trust it so I figured this would work for me.Installation was easy enough using the mobile app. I was able to name my network and set up a password with no issues. Since this is dual band I haven’t figured out how to name the two bands like I’m used to on my older model. Not a huge deal, but some of my wi-fi devices only use the 2.4GHz so having a separate name just makes it easier in setting up those devices.Due to some signal interferences I decided to add my old router into the AiMesh feature to help the signal issues in the basement. It integrated easy enough and so far has improved things. All streaming services are working just fine. Xbox gaming is working. Home automation services are cooperating. So for me, this router is handling the demands and keeping up with the 1gb services.
