Configured as Access Point in minutes, works great
I had been using Eero mesh for a few years. Installed in bridged mode as I already have an excellent router. I kept having trouble with the Eeros, they worked great when I first got them but with each firmware update they seemed to be a little less reliable. Bridged mode really isn’t the same as true AP mode, which perhaps contributed.I really don’t need mesh anyway as my house isn’t large. So I replaced the Eeros with this unit but configured it in pure AP mode. It has web page config (no need to use any app) and set up in minutes. All my performance and stability issues vanished. I did have one minor configuration issue and contacted ASUS for help. Customer servce was first rate and they got my issue sorted quickly.

Fast and super easy install
Very good signal strength and out to end of the 65â driveway. Easy setup, no app needed. All of the features 99% of users could ever want. No need to call tech support; install went without a hitch. Very good Parental controls and is compatible with everything Iâve got. Good buy.

Great router
Great router simple to set up but I did have to mess with the channel settings to get a clear channel and not have interference with the neighbors. It doesn’t do it automatically apparently. If you don’t get the right channel, your signal is going to be horrible and it’ll disconnect constantly.

Works as expectedâ¦
â¦but I am unable to get it to hard reset a second time. Not sure why, but the first time after depressing the reset for over 10 seconds it worked, but I was not able to get it to reset to default the 2nd time.

Close to the best available at a reasonable price
Asus makes a full line of routers. They all use the same software so the features ar the same across the line. The more expensive ones have different and more capable hardware. The expensive routers are advertised to be faster. But what they measure is the total speed of all the clients. The bigger routers are like buying 10 dump trucks. You can move 10X more gravel per hour if you own ten trucks but the gravel does not move faster. So when you choose an Asus router think about how many streaming devices you own and use at the same time. This router easily handles a grammar running Twich and two TV sets plus general internet use. The faster routers do NOT let you stream a two hour move in one hour, that is silly, they let you steam more movies at the same time, up to the limit of your Internet connection speed from you ISP.If you need more than this you have two options (1) move up the line to a faster router or (2) buy two routers. With Asus, any two (or more) routers can be combined into a “mesh” system. Place one router on each floor of the house and connect them with Ethernet. (Ethernet works MUCH better than a wireless interconnect). You will get better coverage and total bandwidth with 2 or 3 of these routers then you would be one more expensive router. The software included in every Asus router makes this easy. You can start with one router and then buy another if needed. Having more routes distributed around the house keeps the signal strength up as your device will find the closest router. So I recommend these mid-range routers over one more expensive one. When you buy the second router you can use an identical router or move up or down the line depending on what you need. This is a midrange router that has a good performance-to-cost ratio and as said is expandable if you simply buy more of the same.

Good home router
I have used ASUS routers for decades. This model is very good and has many up to date features, including multiple VPN client and server options, QOS, etc. I use mine as the gateway router for our 1200 sq ft apartment with an Xfinity gateway in bridge mode. I alternately use the host and client VPN capability. The wifi coverage is excellent, the 5GHz and 2.4Ghz reach all rooms with good throughput in spite of all the interference from adjacent apartments. The iphone app is pretty useful and the browser interface is very complete.

Decent hardware let down by garbage firmware
Pros: Solid signal across multiple devices and over good physical distance. Easy setup with phone app.Cons: Atrocious, inexcusable error in firmware. 5 Ghz signal not able to be picked up by 20 tested devices, all thanks to faulty firmware that does not allow the control channel to be adjusted for the 5 Ghz radio. Manual shows that a drop-down menu is available for the control channel. Guess what? There is ONLY the AUTO option when you pull it up in the PC configuration menu. Phone app doesn’t even have the functionality to change the control channel for some reason. First time I’ve had to return a router in 7 years and 5 purchases. Wasted my time and money to return a half-functional dual-band router.

Solid router and still going strong
I bought this router as a replacement for my old ASUS router and it has been working great for the last two years. The management console for ASUS is great and the mobile app makes the configuration updates a breeze. I went with this router instead of a mesh network and I’ve been very pleased.

This router was easy to set up and works very well for my shop. The connection is a lot more stable then my previous router. With a total of 5 laptops and 1 car scanner always connected to the internet its important not to have interruption when programing an ECM on a truck.

Great product! It was easy to install. I turned on my PC, it went to the ASUS page automatically. The interactions are very easy to follow, and it has worked great so far. Would highly recommend this router.

The router is advertised as 2.5 gigs in but not down the outfits only 1 gig each out so I felt like the description of the router was a bit miss leading however it is a very good router and happy with it for now.
