Incredible Device and Works with Asus Ai Mesh
I recently upgraded my home network setup and added the ASUS AX86U as an AI Mesh device to complement my main router, the AX88U Pro. The results have been outstanding, particularly when compared to my old AC68U router.The AX86U integrates seamlessly into the AI Mesh system, working flawlessly with the AX88U Pro. The speed improvements are instantly noticeable across the board. My internet speeds, as well as home LAN speeds, have seen a significant boost. Streaming 4K content, online gaming, and even heavy downloading happen without a hitch, with zero lag or buffering issues.The AI Mesh feature is a standout. perfect solution for larger properties
We live on a small family farm and have starlink for our internet. Our home sits in the middle of what used to be a 5 acre pasture with my mother in law’s house about 100 yards behind it with my shop between us. I have our starlink dish and router set up in my shop and before getting this setup the wifi signal would barely reach our houses. We tried wifi extenders which helped but having to switch between networks was a pain and the signals werent consistent. I got the package with the router and 2 mesh nodes. I run the starlink router in bypass hardwired to the asus router still setup in my shop. I put a mesh node in each of our houses. Setup was a breeze with the asus app. I was hesitant to try out a mesh network because though I have a background in networking, its been nearly 20 years since I’ve built any networks and back then it was all wired. This literally couldnt be any easier. After plugging everything up and doing firmware updates it was as simple as joining the wifi network like normal. The automatic switching between nodes and 2.4/5ghz bands allows for a consistently reliable connection wherever we are on the property. Download and upload speeds are stable at around 150mbps/45mbps respectively. We have around 30 devices on our network which stream, game, browse the internet, etc flawlessly. I couldnt be happier and highly recommend it.

We installed this router in a 2-story, 2200 sq. ft. home, and it provides wonderful coverage and speed to all corners of the house, obviating the need for any wifi extenders or mesh systems. I have always gotten terrible WiFi signals with my 1Gb AT&T BGW210 gateway so I wanted to upgrade my home network. My BGW210 is located on one end of the house stuffed behind a data panel.First, I tried a WiFi extender and to be honest it pretty much solved my WiFi signal strength issues as I was able to put one in the middle of the house. However, that introduced new problems when my wired devices couldn’t communicate with my WiFi devices and the setup/interface was terrible. So i returned that product.I decided to not skimp out and get something nice that will take care of everything I want so I started researching routers. One thing I was looking for was the ability to run a VPN directly on my router and eliminate the need for the NordVPN app on all my devices. I wanted a better interface and better control over my devices as well. The AX86U PRO has the processing power to do it so I chose this one after researching MANY other routers.I installed Merlin (firmware) immediately and got everything up and running in no time. The 5ghz signal is strong from the opposite end of my 2200 SQFT home which is extremely impressive. Setting up NordVPN was a breeze. You pick and chose which of your devices use your VPN and you can also set up a killswitch which is perfect. There is currently, from what I understand, no way to split tunnel apps. The only way you can do this is by using the NordVPN app on your device.On my 1Gb connection, with NordVPN enable on the router, i get roughly 250Mbps up/down for both wired and wireless. It seems as though 250 Mbps up/down (with router VPN enabled) is my limit with this hardware but you will be hard pressed to find anything much more powerful without paying an arm and a leg.Using 5ghz WiFi 6, VPN disabled, on my desktop from 20ft distance, I get an impressive 500-550Mbps down and around 350-400 Mbps up.On the other side of my house, I still get close to 300Mbps down. One feature that I have yet to use is AiMesh which essentially means you can go buy another Asus router, including less expensive ones, and easily set them up to create a mesh system.I’m hard wired in now, but the wifi signal is fantastic and I use it for my phone, Steam Deck, Switch, PS5, and my Plex Server until I get it wired in as well.Fantastic product. I highly recommend it.

Estoy encantado con mi compra, ha sido justo lo que esperaba. HabÃa estado teniendo un router Asus modelo RT-AC66U B1 que me funcionaba muy bien; sin embargo, ya se sentÃa que en momentos se estresaba de más por la cantidad de dispositivos conectados en casa y la necesidad de mantener una velocidad estable de conexión a internet (tengo contratados 700mb de descarga).Fue por lo anterior que decidà actualizar mi router a este nuevo RT-BE86U⦠sin duda una hermosura. Se mantiene la facilidad de configuración y mejoraron la priorización para gaming. Con su puerto 10G puedo aprovechar al máximo mi velocidad y me otorga, de forma INALÃMBRICA, los 700mb a una distancia medianamente alejada del router.Es cierto que no tiene la antena de 6ghz para el âwifi7 puroâ, aunque sà nos ofrece âde baseâ dos conexiones (SSID) en 5ghz y una en 2.4ghz (esta última con la opción de crearle mas redes). Por lo que en mi caso resultó perfecto puesto que bastantes de mis dispositivos ya reconocen de forma ideal el protocolo de WiFi6 y la conexión es estupenda.Sin duda alguna recomiendo la compra y percibo que podré tener este router funcionando sin problemas por al menos 6 años.

Excelente equipo, por mucho el mejor router que he tenido, es fácil de configurar con la app, teniendo la opción de poderse administrar remotamente a través de la red de internet. Mejoró notablemente la conexión de mis dispositivos. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.
