The adaptable SideKick Plus 3-in-1 Hip Seat Carrier makes carrying easier and more comfortable for both parent and child. The unique, two-piece system offers a variety of healthy sitting positions for convenient carrying from infant through toddler. Subpar compared to similar products
I bought this item and the Tushbaby. I expected them to be pretty similar, but the Tushbaby is much more useful. It’s twice the price, but it has 5x more storage pockets and some other useful features as well, like a button and loop you can connect when not using it to keep everything folded nicely together. This Chicco product is much more minimal, with a single storage pocket and not much else going on. Seems well made, but not useful enough for what I wanted.

Good carrier. Only handwashable…
This is a fine functional baby carrier. Two things detract from its usefulness which I’ll mention in a bit, but first the good news…1) Solidly built2) Comes with a separate shoulder-strap mounted child carrier which immobilizes the child and waist mounted child seat that requires an arm around the child to keep the child safe. And these two separate pieces can be used in tandem.3) Capable of a variety of positions for holding a child–the waist-only seat can hold a child facing forward or facing parent just about anywhwere on your waist, provided you can keep an arm around the child. Used as an infant carrier without the waist seat the baby must face parent and be carried in the front. Used as a child carrier together with the waist seat, the unit can hold an outward-facing and parent-facing child in front, and a parent facing child in back. See the illustrations from the user manual I’ve included.4) Several extras, such as zippered pocket on waist unit, sunshade for child on shoulder unit.Now, the only negatives.1) Whatever orientation you use, the baby will be held directly between the carrier and your skin (or clothing). This makes it impossible to place the baby in the carrier and then put the carrier on your shoulders. You must first be wearing the carrier to put the baby in the carrier. In addition, this likely means more messes on your clothing since the baby isn’t separated from your shirt at all.2) The carrier is not machine washable.Overall, this is a useful, highly configurable carrier. I’m not sure of the utility of the waist seat. SInce you have to keep your arm around the child when on this perch I suspect most parents would prefer just to rest the child on their hip and not wear the separate seat.

Comfort for both of you
My son likes to nap in a carrier, but when awake, he doesn’t like being restrained by it. That is when the seat is useful (pretty much most of the day) 🙂 It is much easier for me to carry him around, since he has a study support. I do feel that I can stand straighter, and my arm is not carrying his weight.
