Finally, a collar that doesn’t fall apart or irritate my cats!
I’ve owned two sets of safety collars so far. The first had breakaway latches that failed in weeks. The second were made out of some elastic and both of my cats hated them. They got chewed up and frayed in a couple of weeks. One day I came up on one of my cats, and he had his jaws wide open and was just staring at me. I walked up to him and discovered that he’d managed to get his collar lodged between his jaws, which didn’t surprise me as they both would start licking very strenuously at their collars within seconds of them being put on. He might have been like that for an hour for all I knew. Can you imagine that happening to you? What, you’d rather not? Me neither. >:(This is why I detest “safety collars.” They reek of the modern “let’s change everything because there’s a 1/100,000th chance that something might go wrong” mentality. I finally came to my senses and ordered a couple of these. The cats initially didn’t like me putting the collars on, probably because they associated collars with neverending physical discomfort. However, they have made no attempt to take their leather collars off, and – here’s the key – barely seem to notice them. Since they are not made out of elastic junk, they don’t have to be fitted so tight that they chafe at the cat’s necks, and there are no artificial fibers to make them itch. (I think that might have been part of why the cats hated the old ones so much.) People have been putting leather collars on animals for thousands of years, and there’s a reason: Leather collars are the way to go. They do what they are designed to do, they last for decades rather than weeks, they don’t put the animal through unnecessary misery, and – get this – they actually stay on, meaning that if the cats ever get lost, they will at least have obvious name tags to go with their chips. Really, if a collar isn’t there when your cat gets lost and really, REALLY needs to have your number hanging from its neck, why even have one?Do yourself and your pets a favor. Get them some leather collars. I don’t care if you get these or another. Just don’t torture your animals with stupid elastic junk.

Rough on the edges
Even though I had to return this because it was too small (I didn’t know that the buckle was included in the length), it looked presentable. It was rough around the edges like the leather was just cut with frays…. It was pretty thick, so I think it would work from the leather standpoint. But I cannot attest to the hardware on it. The buckle was difficult to open up. everything just seemed too tight. Didn’t want to force it because it was too small anyway and I had to return it.

Great product for dogs.
Longtime fan of brand and the leather is good quality. However I had problem and had to disregard the collar because it was really bulky, rubbed my min pin raw, due to fold. And sewing but conditioner would resolve this issue and if dog had more hair nor wasn’t sensitive to it. In future purchases I would purchase this collar or another size for other pets, just my min pin is tiny but has tracia dislodge disorder so nothing bulky on his neck, the collar wasn’t a good match up for my current dog,the product is great.was lasted a longtime with my other dogs that I had. (Rottweiler and germain shepherd s these collars have a long life compared to other similar leather collars. It really depends on the dog and the size of collar if their a match.

Excellent value for money
The collar is made of comfortable, pliable leather with a good finish. I live in the tropics and it has so far withstood the extreme humidity, my hyperactive dog’s antics in the dirt, and the jaws of the Boston terrier puppy that constantly tries to drag her around by it. I have regrets about its shade (wanted a more chocolate brown, rather than this reddish color), but it serves its intended purpose remarkably well so I cannot complain! Great value for money.
