Works, if you have a lot of direct sun.
Just wanted to write this review because all the low rated reviews had me scared this wouldn’t work. I bought a battery plus doorbell, I guess it’s gen 3, and I have no direct power to install a doorbell. The official ring solar panel wasn’t available so this was my next best option. When it first arrived it was smaller than I was expecting, plus all the bad reviews, I was worried. Installation was simple enough, except I didn’t know which wire went to which terminal to the back of the ring. Wires are red and black but the ring terminals aren’t labeled, IDK if it matters. Maybe I got lucky cause my ring app told me it was hooked up to solar power and is charging. I forgot to charge my battery completely in the ring doorbell and had less than 50% when installed with about 2-3 hours of daylight left in the day. Next morning I had 39%, but we had a lot of sun that day and the following morning it now has 79%. I have a lot of direct sun light where it’s installed. Will update if it starts to under perform, but so far it’s good.

Well worth the money
I got tired of swapping batteries on my ring doorbell. It seemed it was always dead when I needed it.It literally took 10 minutes to install and a bit longer on the doorbell itself as before I only had it connected with 3M strips and it would fall off after a couple months. So this time I used screws.My battery was totally charged when I hooked the solar up. Didnât worry about positive or negative as it doesnât say on the camera hookups.As you can see on the top right hand screen itâs live and charging. Now all my ring have solar.The price is awesome too.The old ring solar square which I just reused after cutting off the wires was junk. Had to have direct sun and never did work past the battery function.Love this solar panel.

Stopped working in about 6 weeks
I have three of these that I ordered and 2 quit working in 6 weeks of course right after the time you can send it back. They used to be well made but skip this item as it won’t work. I live in CO where we get a LOT of sunshine. In fact it actually hurt my built in battery now I have 2 useless ring doorbell cameras I ordered within the past 3 months.

The doorbell 2 and up use LV AC (low voltage alternating current) of 50-60Hz (like the power into your house). However it requires only 48v.Believe this to be very common input power for countless devices and kits.Donât buy this for the above mentioned Ring video doorbell devices, you should get similar but with micro usb output. Preferably very small profile micro usb plug and / or 90 degree end connector to allow normal flush mounting of cam unit to surfaces.
