This was a pleasant surprise in that the “grinder” rotating snad-paper like trimmer wheel is quiet and very efficient, so efficient I think Amazon needs to look at this for old, disabled, people – like me – who have terrible experiences trying to cut toe-nails so you can put on compression socks or any basic leg ware. To get a pedicure from even the most proficient salons is excruciatingly painful even from an experienced person. Trying to trim your own feet is very difficult and usually ends up cutting into the toes whch requires days to heal. Going for ingrown toe-nail repair work means weeks in a cast or wraps keeping you from excercising or using a pool. So my old dog and I, two old Marine dogs, can share this device as we are by ourselves in care and have to find all kinds of alternative tools and methods. Amazon helps a lot because they can get you products in days while the VA and medical programs take weeks. Nail trimming is essential for all old dogs – K-9 and human, so this product really opened my eyes and provided me with a great relief of pain all while helping me trim nasty grown toes from my dog who is passing 17 now.

good grinder, but my dogs don’t like it
I got this because one of my dogs really really hates to have his nails cut, and he fights it so hard I worry about hurting him. I hoped he would tolerate grinding better than cutting, but he didn’t.This grinder works well, but even my other dog doesn’t tolerate it well, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I think most dogs will have the same reaction. I used to groom dogs, and I can tell you that most dogs don’t like to have their nails cut, but because cutting is much faster than grinding, they will mostly tolerate the cutting better.However, cutting nails usually leaves sharp areas on the nail, which can snag or scratch, so sometimes it’s important enough to insist on smoothing up the nail, though when the dog goes outside a little, the nails wear smooth very quickly. This is so true, that often very active dogs that are outside a lot sometimes do not need their back nails cut at all because walking and running on the ground keeps the nails worn down.So, I think that while the grinder is a good machine, and seems well made, for most dogs it will be a problem to try to grind their nails. Just use good clippers hold the clippers at the same angle as the nail, so that they don’t twist the toe as they cut, try as much as you can to hold the foot so that the dog doesn’t see you cut its nails, and don’t cut them too short. Then if the dog doesn’t tolerate the grinder to smooth the nail, just let it walk outside to smooth up the sharp edges.

Great nail grinder with accessories and a 2 year warranty.
I have a dachshund and I have always trimmed his nails myself since he came to live here at 8 weeks old. He was several years old before I tried him out with a nail grinder, but he took to it nicely. His old one was not keeping a charge to well anymore, so I found this one with accessories included for replacing the old one.These are so easy to use. I usually use the clipper that is included with the set to trim the nails to the length I want for him and then use the grinder to smooth away all the sharpness a fresh clipping leaves on the nails. This set includes the nail clipper, 3 grinding wheels of varying hardness, a charging cable, a drawstring pouch for storing it all, and of course the grinder. The grinder has 3 speeds and two LED lights to help with seeing so as to not get the nails too short. The grinder always has a digital display to show how much charge is left of the battery. The lights have a button to turn them on / off as needed.All around, this grinder with the accompanying accessories is quite nice, works very well and I can certainly recommend it. There is a 2 year warranty for the grinder.

I have an Xl bully and german shepherd and this toll worked perfect. Was quiet and precise. The grind was easy and not so fast you lose track of where you are in nail bed area. The light option is also a plus and helps a lot qoth squirming pups.
