I had ordered the stock housing from DJI before a dive trip to Bonaire but it was not going to arrive on time. So I took a chance on this housing. It functioned well for 22 dives with a max depth of 104 feet. (Most dives were 65 feet max and averaged 65 minutes) There were zero issues and it functioned as advertised. I did remove the o-ring and apply silicone grease. Not sure if that made a difference or not but it seemed prudent as it’s a standard practice for housings. I now have the stock DJI housing and will switch to that but will keep this housing as a backup.

Great value for the price. My Osmo fits snugly enough to not be loose or vibrate when inside the housing, yet it also can be removed with a gentle tap to the front of the housing. Push buttons operate controls perfectly and stainless steel is smooth and well-machined. Closure clamp is firm and snaps closed, securely. No complaints whatsoever and surprised by the reasonable price.

You can buy this without the filters for less, or you can buy an alternative the party case for more, or you can buy the official DJI waterproof case with a float handle for £60…Personally I’d go for the DJI official case… Here’s why.First of all I have not tested this in open water, it had only been tested in my usual way of testing waterproof cases BEFORE I trust them with a camera inside. This method involves checking the cameras fits first of all, then removing the camera and sticking the case with tissue paper. The car is then submerged in water, sloshed around, held under traps and water jets including directly on the seams etc.Results…The Osmo Action 5 Pro fits but it is a very tight squeeze. Yes, you want a snug fit so the camera doesn’t move in the housing, but it is quite difficult to remove the camera from the case once it’s inside.After my water testing there were no signs of any water ingress, which is a good start…BUT…There are concerns.First of all the build quality isn’t great. The plastic feels very brittle and I suspect it would not stand a lot of use. That’s a guess, though, so your mileage may vary.What is not a guess it’s that the release catch on the closure mechanism doesn’t seem to do anything. The case can be opened without releasing the little catch.While the actual opening lever is a tight fit and needs a lot of lifting pressure to open on dry land, I have two concerns here. On dry land there is no pressure on the case so it is effectively trying to open against the catch which helps keep it secured. Under water, however, the case will be compressed by the water pressure thereby relieving some of the pressure on the catch meaning it could be opened far more easily by accident.As you that the fact that there is a cold shoe mount on the closure latch and you have my second concern. Anything attached to that child shoe mount is going to act as a lever on the closure mechanism. Any backwards pressure on whatever is attached to the cold shoe mount could quite easily pop the case open.I am also a bit concerned about how brittle the plastic feels. Under the kind of pressure the case will be subject to at 50m I would be worried about the car either cracking at worst, or possibly exerting pressure on the camera’s screens.The OA5P is waterproof too 20m without a case of any sort, so this case is only needed for deeper excursions, so being able to withstand these pressures is the whole point of the case (unless you just want a bit of extra security for shallow dives <20m in case you suffer from some of the reported defects in the USB cover waterproof seal on the camera itself).The good points are that the plastic is very optically clear and the button controls work well (obviously you have no touchscreen control with this fitted).The supplied filters are also a bit cheap and though the clip on ok, I suspect again that they will distort under pressure which could lead to wasting of your images.Also, the OA5P has a built in underwater colour profile so the need for these filters is a bit diminished anyway - cheap filters (these at about £6 to the package price for three filters) can make your images worse rather than better.On the subject of filters, this case will only fit your OA5P with the original lens fitted. If you replace the lens with other filters or lenses then the case will likely not fit.In conclusion, then, I will keep this for a bit of extra protection in shallow water, but for deeper dives I would go for the official DJI kit.
