Nice addition to my smart home setup
These workâ Matter setup was easy and works well. They are set up directly in the Alexa app!Iâm not a huge fan of Cync smart home products, especially their lightbulbs (I prefer Kasa and Philips Hue). But I have a couple older Cync bulbs that are not wifi-enabled (or something?) and donât play nice with my Alexa. I read that if you add a wifi-enabled Cync product (like these plugs) to your smart home setup, it somehow fixes the issues with the older bulbs and makes them work properly with everything. And lo and behold, once I set up these plugs, my older Cync bulbs were communicating perfectly with Alexa!Those older lightbulbs still had to be set up in the GE Cync app. But I did NOT set up these newer plugs with the Cync app â I set them up using Matter (the instructions walk you through this). For Matter setup, you need a little QR code thatâs on a sticker on each plug. In case I ever need to set them up again, Iâm trying to hang onto the stickers by leaving them stuck on each plug. But if you lose any of them, the QR code is also printed really small on the back of each plug. The stickers are just more convenient.

Easy set up. Easy connect to both the app and Alexa. Most convenient thing is the Bluetooth mesh network. So if you have unstable wifi using the mesh network you’ll still be able to connect and control everything even in you’re in range

Work with Matter, but barely
Iâve bought Matter-compatible smart plugs from three different brands. None of them have worked with Apple Home out of the box. In the case of Cync by GE, at least they worked with Apple Home, but only after pairing them with the Cync app then factory resetting each plug. The whole point of Matter is supposed to be not having to download yet another app, but these plugs would not connect via Apple Home at all, until I paired them with the Cync app. Iâm taking one star off just for making me download another unwanted app, an app that made me create an account before it would do anything useful.

I have purchased two of these in the last year and both stopped working. Just ordered one in the last month and it has already stopped working. Terrible product.

Reliable and handy
GE CYNC products seem to be very reliable. I haven’t had a single problem with them in the several months I’ve owned these plugs.

Don’t waste your money!
Terrible product. I purchased one plug to see how it worked. Set up is clunky with the app, but I finally worked out the scene/schedule thing. The plug worked great! I ordered 3 more plugs and got them all set up followed the exact same method as the first plug and while setup “worked,” from the moment I had more than 1 plug, none of them would stay connected to the wifi and working off bluetooth just made every plug disconnect as soon as I left the room. The schedules didn’t work and the only way to utilize what was plugged into the plug was to manually use the app to turn on the plug while I was in that room, but as soon as I left the room, the plug turned off.Support suggested factory reset and start over. Same results. I thought there might be a problem with the wifi signal, so I manually forced connection to the 2.4ghz. Same results. We were about to upgrade our entire wifi network with new hardware to troubleshoot this issue but then…I decided to try the AMAZON SMART PLUG on Prime Day and they have worked absolutely FLAWLESSLY from the moment I swapped out all the Cync plugs. I’ll never look back and never purchase another Cync product. The Amazon Smart Plugs work exactly as the Cync plugs *should” but don’t. What a waste of time and money!

Easy to setup
Out of most choices of accessories for Smart products, the GE is the best for Alexa or Google. Quick, easy setup. Lasts a long time because I’ve had one for my coffee machine two years now and still using it. Very good price when bought in bundle packs like this one.

Make your life easier, put a smart plug on them. Have the peace of mind to be able to look at your phone and see that yes indeed you did turn off (insert device’s name here). Excellent purchase, if needed, I will purchase more.
