Great product!
After receiving a second package of chia seeds sourced from outside the U.S. that didn’t taste good, we researched chia seeds grown in the U.S. We were surprised to learn that Heartland Chia is the only USA grown chia! We purchased a package and were very pleased with the taste and quality of the chia seeds. They do not need to be rinsed. We add chia seeds to our oatmeal cereal every morning. Chia seeds are a healthy food, rich in omega-3, and we love this product. I’m happy to support U.S. farmers.

Old chia?
These chia seeds did not set up when made into a chia seed pudding. It was like they didnât want to absorb and liquid and they had an off putting bitter flavor.

Dried up chia seeds that hardly absorb liquid – updated
These chia seeds appear to be withered to the point that they lose the ability to absorb liquid. I put a table spoon in 8oz of water and notice a lager amount of yellow seeds stay afloat. When I take a closer look, I donât see any expansion. Tasting them feel dry as if eating sesame seeds rather than a soft gel like texture like other brandsâ chiaUpdate 4/18/24: i changed rating to 5/5. The seller was prompt to address the issue by sending out a replacement. The seeds looked pretty good and absorbed liquid well. It seems like I just got a bad bag. I updated new photos for comparison.

I thought I was going into a coma after eating this product on my salad.
I use this product to increase my intake of minerals like magnesium. So I sprinkled a table spoon full onto my salad that I eat sometimes with flaxseed on top. But this time I was in for the shock of my life, after about three forks full I felt weak and exhausted and started to nod off, I tried to stand up and almost fell over. I was able to make it to my recliner six feet away where I passed out, and did not regain consciousness for 5 hrs , My wife tried to wake me up but I was not able to speak or swallow the water she tried to give me. I am in fear of my life if I was ever to consume this product again.
