Its good for what it does
The HomeVenus HVS Smart Lightbulb gets the job done, but be prepared to jump through a few hoops to get it set up. The bulb itself functions as promised, providing adjustable lighting and convenient scheduling options. However, the real challenge comes when trying to connect it to your smartphone.The manual directs you to download a specific app, but alas, it seems the app has been rebranded or removed from the app stores. After some digging, I discovered that the app now goes by a different name in both the iOS and Google app stores. This unexpected hurdle caused some frustration and wasted time.Once I managed to find the correct app and get everything synced up, the lightbulb worked like a charm. The interface is fairly intuitive, allowing for easy customization of lighting settings and schedules.Overall, while the HomeVenus HVS Smart Lightbulb ultimately delivers on its promises, the initial setup process could definitely be smoother. If you’re willing to put in a little extra effort to get things up and running, it’s a decent option for adding some smart functionality to your home lighting setup.

Terrible Product
I bought 8 of these bulbs and installed them on 7/30. They all worked fine for the first two weeks. They are all on my front porch and very close to my router. Four of them have now gotten to the point where they lose connection to the WiFi and will not allow me to reconnect. They blink as if they are ready to connect, but won’t. If I turn off the power switch at the wall for 10 minutes, they will stop blinking when I turn them back on, so at least they don’t strobe all night. I have 2 other brands of smart lights in my home (have had both brands for over 2 years) and they have never had a problem. These bulbs are garbage. The only reason I purchased them was the brand I already had wouldn’t have arrived in time. Unless you like wasting money, I wouldn’t purchase these.

I have added 1 bulb so far. It went very well hooking to HVS app. It was found right away and hooked up lickity split. Trying to link it to my Google Home has not gone so well. There is no option for this brand in all of the hundreds that are listed on Google home. Even searching does no good.On a positive note, Alexa found the bulb right away. So 2 out of 3 isn’t bad. Although, I do like to use the The Google Home app the most. Mostly because the app opens fast so there’s no time wasted waiting for things to load. A little bummed that Google Home won’t work for me with these bulbs, but for the price, I will keep my whining to a minimum.UPDATE: I just couldn’t let it go. I did some googling and found a Q & A forum. One of the ideas from there managed to work. It was a little convoluted for a novice like me, but I got it done.Download Home Life App. (Blue house)Create account. Link HVS account with Home Life account, and link Home Life app to Google Home. Geez…They could have taken a minute to tell me this. I was wrapped up in it for days. No, I don’t really have anything else to do. :)From left to right: HVS app, Home Life App, Google Home App.

Exceeded my expectations.
Okay, there are some negative reviews. There are two important details to make these work properly. You must have a separate SSID for your 2.4 GHz network otherwise you have to turn the 5GHz off. Second, these are known as Tuya devices and will work with any app that is also Tuya. I prefer to use the Smart Life app.Each bulb I installed immediately went into pairing mode. I made sure my phone was connected to my 2.4GHz WiFi and then opened Smart Life. I didnât even need to click the add button, they were auto-discovered. 30 seconds later they were added and since I already have Smart Life integrated with Alexa, they just worked.I love the ability to adjust the color temperature with very fine control. I have bulbs in different lamps whose shades alter the light. With these bulbs, I was finally able to tweak the color so they all match.Dimming is also finely controlled though they only dim to about 10-15 percent, not super low, but low enough.These are a fantastic value costing only a little more than non WiFi bulbs and bulbs without an app either canât change their color or does it with large steps.Very satisfied.

Finally! So hard to find this size smart bulbs that are dimmable and at a great price!
I already had the Smart Life app on my phone to operate a couple of other (both different brands) smart bulbs and so after I plugged these 4 bulbs into my office ceiling fan and flipped the wall switch to ON, the Smart Life App identified them just a few seconds after they started blinking. It was really easy and I haven’t had any issues since except remembering to leave my office light switch in the on position 😛 Works great with Alexa via the Smart Life app. Maybe install the app and get it online with your network before you plug in the bulbs 🙂 Cheers!
