What is that horrendous smell???
Here’s the thing: I feel it is my duty as an Amazon Vine reviewer to try or test each product I receive before writing an honest review. But the smell of this collagen supplement is so stunningly horrendous, I just can’t stand it. And it’s a shame, because I was so excited to have received this package at my doorstep after being fresh out of collagen supplements, which I have been taking for the past 18 months. But when I opened the lid to this container, I could scarcely believe what I would describe as a stench coming from the supplements. What is that??? I’ve had bovine collagen before but it doesn’t smell like that. I read the ingredients list which is pretty simple. The only two ingredients I can identify as bovine are collagen peptides, which the package specifically indicates is from bovine hide, and hyaluronic acid, which may or may not be animal sourced. But since there’s 120 mg of hyaluronic acid, the most abundant ingredient in the supplement, I would have to assume that it is also from bovine hide.I did a little research and learned that while US has banned beef imports from China since 2003, the US still Imports bovine hide from China. As this product does not indicate where the ingredients are sourced, there is a chance that this bovine hide is from China, which makes me extremely leery. The thing is, I don’t doubt that the supplement is health beneficial as it claims. However, the smell alone along with the knowledge that the bovine hide may have come from China is enough to discourage me from trying it. Even if the bovine hide is US sourced, the smell is so horrendously awful, there’s just no way I can consume this. 🙁 And you know what is a joke? The product description indicates, “Odorless and unflavored collagen peptides…”Odorless??? Need I say more? I think I’m going to stick with my marine collagen supplements.

I was struck by the ingredients, perfect for a woman 30 years and older
I was struck by the ingredients, perfect for a woman 30 years and older. It is important to say that its smell is a little strong, but it will help your hair, nails and skin a lot. Its benefits are very appropriate and it is a gluten-free product. I am very happy because I like to take care of myself, since with age we lose all the collagen we lose it.

Good Collagen Powder – Unflavored and sourced from pasture-raised, grass-fed bovine
I mix Collagen Peptides with my morning soy milk/chocolate/coffee beverage and this one seems to mix as well as any other I’ve had. You do have to make sure you really shake it up or blend it well, otherwise you end up with some nasty clumps that don’t taste well. I’ve noticed some reviewers mentioned a smell, but I have no sense of smell (from birth) and thus can’t comment on that. It seems ok to me, but does come in a much smaller container and about half the amount advertised! It says “1lb” in the title of the listing on Amazon, yet it only contains 256grams vs what it should be, ie. 456g. Also, it is manufactured for a company in the USA, but doesn’t say where it is manufactured…so likely not in the USA.

Hydrolyzed Collagen peptides powder
I love collagen and this one is great in my morning coffee. As soon as it hits the liquid, it dissolves easily. It’s unflavored which I like. You won’t notice any aftertastes. Each serving is 2 scoops giving you 18 g of protein and 20 g of collagen from bovine-cow. In addition, this powder has 120 mg of hyaluronic acid which is excellent for skin hair and nails. I gave this powder 4 stars because the description says this is a 1lb container when the jar says 265 g which is less than 1 lb, it’s approximately just over 8 oz. I have another brand that’s 1lb and it’s 500 g. Outside of the incorrect amount, the powder is great. hydrolyzed collagen is the easiest for our bodies to utilize and this is helpful for joints too.

Disgusting Taste & Smell – Intense Salt or Iodine Flavor – Vital Proteins Dupe?
Despite what appears to be a quality sourced product with great ingredients, the Leaping Lynx Collagen powder is without question the most disgusting supplement or consumable I have attempted to get down.I was excited to assess this product after consuming the ultra-popular Vital Proteins brand collagen for the last few years. This product appeared to have great specs although it is not clear where the product is made. Upon opening the tub you are âgreetedâ with a strong smell of bovine and maybe the smell of hoof or bone? It reminds me of the smell that I detect when I sand my dogs nailsâ¦and not faint mind you, quite intense. My wife asked me to leave the room with this product because it was wafting into her office and disrupting her work. That said, I have a strong stomach and Iâm open minded to healthy supplements that maybe donât offer a great taste but have beneficial attributes. Well, if the smell was bad, the taste is immensely stronger and unacceptably disgusting. It tastes amazingly salty, has a color hue and taste of iodine and has a lingering taste and aroma of farm. I wasnât able to consume even a single swig, it was so bad. After researching the produce more deeply, I noticed something concerning. Although the packaging is a different color scheme, it appears to be a direct rip-off ofâ¦you guessed itâ¦the most popular collagen on Amazon and probably in the US, Vital Proteins. Iâve attached an image of the two products and here is a link to the VP product https://amzn.to/3BXqHBF Decide for yourself, but I have come to the conclusion this product is a lazy rip-off of VP collagen. This makes me seriously question the sourcing of the product and the claims made. What I can say with great certainty is that this product is completely inconsumable. It is possible that I received a bad batch but considering the product was far from expiration and the packaging appears to be a lazy dupe of the VP collagen, I think we have identified a product that is attempting to be something it is not.Again, make your own conclusions here but this is a non-returnable product, buyer beware.
