Good for presentation TVs
The Microsoft branded one has been out of stock forever, so I took a chance on this one. It was the highest rated one, and so far, it has hit the mark for my use. I needed a presentation device for my school conference room monitor so we could do away with the 30â HDMI cord we had been using. This plugged in easily to the Sharp TVâs hdmi and USB connectors and was immediately ready to go. It is easy to identify and then connect to using the built in MS Windows 10 protocols. It connects on the first attempt, and stays connected. We donât have issues with it dropping, unless the laptop goes into power saving mode or sleeps. It easily reconnects though. When we are having admin meetings, we go round robin style and each member connects their computer for their part, and it easily transitions between different devices. I have yet to use the other ways to connect other devices, but the pop up screen when you select this input has all of the directions on the screen to easily follow. I will buy this again for other TVs in the building where we wirelessly need to connect.

Works great on the TV’s in my RV and my house.
I really like this because I can use them in my RV. My phone (Samsung 22 Ultra) connects to it easily. With the setup that I had before I had to have WiFi access. This works when I’m boondocking in the middle of nowhere. I just connect to my phone and I can stream right to the TV. If I know that I won’t have any phone reception, I just download movies onto my phone before I leave. No problem.

Pleasantly surprised!
I’ve been looking for a substitute for the Microsoft Display Adapters which IMO were the gold standard. I wish I knew why they discontinued them. Rumors are they will release an updated version soon but who knows. In the meantime I need to find a reliable substitute, and here we are. I tried this brand on a whim and I am impressed. I’d say it’s 95% as reliable as the Microsoft adapter, which is actually a huge compliment.I plan on buying more for use thoughout my IT environment.

Minor connect issues / major quality issue
Very cheap housing, I was hopeful but this did not make it 2 months. Company wants us to pay for cost to return/swap, will just take the loss and order MDA. Under heavy load it did have connection issues but it was minimal in comparison to the use. Possibly good as an at home product but not quality for any additional use.

Needs WiFi
I’m planning on cancelling my home internet, so I could instead use my phone. It’s way cheaper for me. So after trying out various casting devices that didn’t work for me, I thought this one would be perfect because they claim you don’t need WiFi, and some of the reviews mention that as well. I mean, you need WiFi to set up the dongle, but that’s understandable I suppose. Maybe it needs an initial update or something. After I got it working, it worked quite well, although the picture was less than stellar. Setup was fairly straightforward. So if you aren’t relying solely on your phone for Internet, and you only need a decent cheap casting device, then this will do the trick. But anyway I decided to really test it out once I had everything hooked up properly. So I turned OFF my router (to see how it would work once I cancel my home internet) and lol and behold, the dongle stopped working. It would still register as being connected to my phone, and my phone could still find the device in my screen casting app, but I could not connect at all. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong, or I’m missing some information. But it seems to me that this dongle will not work unless it is connected to your WiFi. I’m open to ideas on what I might be doing wrong, but I’m going to return this and try to find some way to mirror my phone screen that actually doesn’t use WiFi.

Fussy Setup – Works With Windows 11
I used this so that I could cast to an older ‘dumb’ TV. The install was pretty logical – but buggy. After the install, update and reboot it took many tries to get the device to connect with my windows laptop. The problem might have been mostly mine. In my defense, I usually have few problems with this type of install. Regardless, I did succeed in the end. The mirracast works well. It also worked with my Android. I had older devices that stopped working when I got Windows 11. So this is device is recommended.

It definitely works for what our meeting rooms require it for and for how often it is needed. Obviously, it does not deliver the quality of the Microsoft wireless display adapter, but I am not aware of many other alternatives. I had no issues setting it up, but I am not an IT specialist, so if there are concerns with updating firmware and switching between networks or wifi, that wasn’t something I needed to worry about.I had two screens to plug into, and the first one was already linked to a wifi network, so I only needed to follow the instructions for screen casting for the laptop (Windows + P), and a mobile device. Very user friendly. The other t.v. wasn’t yet, linked to a wifi network, but once I got that sorted, I followed the same process, and it was easy. That being said, because the Microsoft wireless display adapter is currently not available, my company has multiple screens across multiple buildings and meeting rooms that we still require this adapter for, where we don’t already have the Microsoft version and where we would need higher quality images. I’m not sure that this version would be the best option for long term, mass use, but I am not aware of other comparable options to Microsoft.

While it works for OK-ish with Miracast (what it was purchased for), it is NOT Enterprise/Business ready device. Its web interface is not password protected, screen display is unchangeable, AirPlay implementation is somehow non-standard (does not work across VLANs with Bonjour Gateway in place, while other Aiplay devices DO work)They support is plain AWFUL – Joseph had the cheek to write in an e-mail: “…because of security reasons, I am unable to provide a list of the ports that the screencast device accesses. I apologize for the inconvenience. …”That is beyond IDIOTIC. Avoid the company/device
