    Great product, great price!
After careful consideration of features, reviews and cost of the various training collars, I decided to try this one and couldn’t be happier! The collars are easy to assemble and use with adequate instructions and training tips included. They have all the features I need including tone, vibrate and static mode with 100 levels of adjustment. I was leary about the 300 yard range as it was less than some other products but really the length of 3 football fields is more then enough. I also love the rechargeable battery and battery saving sleep feature. I have two young labs 4 and 1 that are obedience trained and get lots of exercise in our country yard, but recently started to develop the bad habit of ignoring direction when playing together and when that habit started to get dangerous by venturing across the road I decided to supplement training with the collars. Both the collars and training work great, the vibrate mode is a great attention getter and I plan on working more with the tone in the future. The only negative as others have said is the actual collar strap is plastic but seems to serve the purpose and is replaceable if needed.UPDATE: Had the collars now for about 10 weeks and they are still working great! The charge on the batteries last for a long time!! I charge them about every two weeks. Much easier on the budget then constantly having to purchase batteries.Second update: I’ve had the collars for over a year now, still work great though I only have to put on occasionally now as a reminder and even then rarely have to touch the controls. I firmly believe this method to be helpful to communicate when dealing with dangerous or stubborn behaviors and the quality of this product has been great!

This is the second set of these I have purchased. They work great for small dogs.

Not a bad collar and not a bad price.
I needed a correction collar for my two dogs who were a little drunk on power when it came to patrolling the street from their yard. In other words, they barked constantly at anything and everything. Every time I was out there with them or if I opened up the door to tell them to stop, they were quiet. But if I needed to tidy up the house or just let them out in the morning or late at night, I needed them to be out there alone. But I couldn’t do that if they were barking. So, I needed a type of correction that was stealthy. An Electric collar seemed to fit the bill. I ordered this one. The price was right and it came with two collars. To make sure I wasn’t about to torture them, I shocked myself with it first, on a low setting. It felt like when you shock yourself on static electricity. It wasn’t pleasant, but it wasn’t anything cruel. But, I never actually had to use the shocking feature, because it beeps too. The beep ended up being enough to silence my dogs in their yard. The collars also light up… I don’t know why. It’s not like the dog can see the light and my dogs have long hair so I really couldn’t see the light either. I guess if you lost the collar in the dark or something, the light up feature makes sense, but I’m really not sure of the actual use. Anyway, The collar was effective when my dogs were in the yard and I was just on the other side of the door- probably 50 feet away. Anything longer than that, and it didn’t work great. Sometimes it seemed like they heard the correction and sometimes they acted like they didn’t. Not sure if they were too excited about the stimuli they were focusing on or if they really didn’t hear it. Here is the problem. You have about a second to react to a behavior in order to correct it. If the correction is late on arrival, the opportunity to correct the action is lost. The timing isn’t great on these collars. Lastly, the layout of buttons is very confusing. It would be good if the buttons for the orange collar were orange and the buttons for the black collar were black. That would prevent sending the correction to the wrong dog. It is important to remember the collar isn’t a magic wand. This is a tool to aid in behavior modification, so it is something you have to work with. It took about a month, but eventually my dogs behavior outside changed. This collar is good for the price, but the timing is a big problem for me. Ultimately, I ended up buying another brand of collar whose timing was better. But for the money, the collars aren’t bad.

    Great product, SUPERB Customer Service.
This has helped one of my dogs change his runaway behavior. I can now confidently let them out in the front yard without worrying whether he’ll end up down the street. The beep is his first warning, the vibration is the reinforcer. I rarely use the shock signal – only on a level less than 5 for my sensitive boys and only as a last resort. The beeps and vibrations are enough to get them to listen to commands. It’s easy to switch between modes and two collars with the remote. The charging system is easy to use and convenient. Even the light on the front of the remote is useful in finding landmines or making sure I don’t step where I shouldn’t. Even the collars are a plastic material over the woven nylon with a leash hook and a proper buckle, so in a pinch, I can use that as a regular collar by sliding the e-box close to the collar ring (making sure the prongs on the e-collar are safely pulling away from the skin, not into it.) The system allows me to take them to an off-leash dog park or an empty parking lot and let them explore while confident that that they are still within voice (and collar) command.Their customer service just blew me away. Purchased the item at the end of January (it’s now December) and both units are either not charging or not holding a charge, so I called their CS #, gave them my amazon order #, they confirmed my address and will be sending me a new unit. I-tronics has a lifelong customer with me.

I now have two Petrainers = the second one I ordered because it had the shocker option. My little girls was sensitive to the beep function … So very easy to keep her at bay.My big girl, well her bark was louder and she did not seem to care if I beeped or vibrate her. She was aware but was more interest in singing her tune …Well this latest tri function Petrainer has got her attention. The beep is louder and the vibration has a more oomph … Have not had to use the zapper at all but will if she gets into song.I live in a rural area and barking, particularly incessant barking would likely not be tolerate. I do not like needless barking so I do not want my neighbours to ever be burdened or feel a need to report my girls === that would really upset me.I do not believe in zap colors but having control remotely allows me to keep my pooches in line and from a distance. Whenever the big girl gets into a barking tune, I check to see the reason, if there is none, a beep,/vibrate and if at last resort, I will zap.I live on the edge of large bush more like a forest and wildlife if plenty – have had fox/raccoon/bear/deer/moose/wolverine and God knows what else that I have not seen. – so I never want my girl to not being to bark or forewarn me or my neighbours of impending danger … The pooches just need to know they can bard but is has to be justifiable.Thank you for both products – strongly recommend .. Saves me from barking /yelling at the girls for them to stop as now, I simply assess the situation and apply the required correction.I would imagine if I was training my girls for other tasks/duties, this trainer would be perfect .. But my girls do not have to work for me, their only job is to be a good dog which they do unconditionally but with ability to exercise their vocal abilities within reason.

When I bought my first E collar a few years ago the only ones that got good reviews were the expensive ones with features needed for hunting like rugged waterproof controllers and 1/4 mile range or more. Reviews of any that were cheaper and used for backyard training were usually very bad. So I bought the expensive one and 4 years later it still works great but I needed another collar since we got our second dog. I was shocked at the expensive price just to buy a second collar for my set.Fortunately today things have changed and there are affordable backyard training E collars with good reviews at one fifth the cost of the expensive hunting name brand collars.Based on the largely positive reviews I bought this Petrainer 2 collar set.So some comparisons between my expensive one and these. The expensive controller is waterproof and more rugged feeling. The Petrainer controller isn’t waterproof and less rugged but is solid enough for backyard training. I’ve dropped it a few times and one of my dogs decided to use it as a chew toy once. Fortunately it survived although it looks a bit rough. On the expensive controller you can assign separate correction buttons to each dog. The Petrainer controller uses the same button for correcting both dogs after toggling to the dog you want with another button. This is poor since I’ve often correct the wrong dog when quick action is needed. Separate correction buttons are better. The expensive controller has 1/4 mile range. The Petrainer controller has less range but more than enough for backyard and dog park use.The collars perform about the same and last around 2 – 3 days per charge depending on use.The controller charge lasts about a week or more.I found the shock correction of the Petrainer to be like a tingle. The expensive collar is more like a one shot sting. This is after adjusting for about the same detection level across my fingers. I like the tingle better. It appears to get the dog’s attention about the same. One reviewer indicated using shock at 5 was too much and wondered why it would need to go to 100. Testing it across my fingers I could just detect it at 30, tingle at 40, and sting at 50. Both dogs appear to detect it at 30, and respond well to 40. I only use 50 as a last resort if the dog doesn’t respond to lower settings when doing destructive behaviors like digging. Try it across your fingers first to be sure it’s working properly and the level is reasonable before trying it on your dog.I don’t expect the Petrainer to last as long as my expensive one, but I can buy several of the Petrainers and still be ahead.I think I’ll buy another Petrainer controller so I have one for each dog. Less convenient but hopefully it will ensure I send the correction to the correct dog.Good value for the money. Performs as well as the expensive ones when used for backyard training.

These work way better than “Good boy” brand which I purchased first for my barking porkie pups and not even a full 2 mos. Later 1 stopped working even though it was stated they’re waterproof. This Pet trainer brand is awesome!! Totally waterproof for my swimming pups and though I didn’t want to resort to using the shock I had no choice as my 9 mos. Old puppy brothers are completely stubborn to the vibration and beeps. The shock function has kept my pups safe from running off into the bush at home and our cottage and safe around snake sitings. My boys are 14lbs and the shock function is set to 40 for one and 45 for the other. This setting is finally getting through to them and they have slowed down on their barking and getting used to knowing their safe boundaries while off leash and swimming. Both pups have not had any adverse reaction to the shock feature such as any sore spots or loss of hair which in my opinion I would have stopped immediately and tried something else. So very thankful for these collars they’ve made training much easier and the price point is well worth it.

Static doesn’t work on even short hair dogs. Only beep and vibrate (the odd time)Don’t bother buying it

Bought this training collar last December 2022. The 2 collar kit was on sale for less than twenty dollars!Having owned it now for 7 months I feel it’s time to write a short review on it.The kit came well packaged with everything needed to make it work. There is a 1 year warranty with it (extended to 3 years if you don’t mind divulging personal data). Great, I thought! So, the transmitter is multi-functional — each button serves dual purposes.Having previously owned a training unit from another manufacturer that had discrete buttons, I found this particular transmitter took some practice to use especially in an emergency. But it does work for disciplining my pup(s). Both the vibration and shock (rarely used) work satisfactorily. However, the one major downfall is with the receiver collar(s).They are NOT waterproof. And once water gets in (especially salt water) it will destroy the electronics. They can be opened and attempt to dry them out sometimes works. Now here’s the big caveat: even though the reviews here are a compendium for this brand of training collars, the actual Sellers are different. When I went to apply for warranty replacement of a faulty receiver (after 6 months use), the Seller no longer existed. The new Seller refused to honor the existing warranty and also refused to provide contact information to Petrainer (maker of the unit).Besides the new exorbitant price that the training collars now command, the best this Seller could offer was a pitiful discount. So purchase this device brand with this information in mind.
