Reliable Z-Wave Dimmer that works with Vivint
These Leviton Z-Wave Dimmers perform well and are one of the best Z-Wave options out there, especially if you want to integrate into a Vivint alarm system. We previously had Lutron Sunnata dimmers which we loved, but they didnât integrate with our alarm panel so we decided to switch. The build quality is on par with the price (not as good as Lutron but better than Enbrighten/GE). Adding them to our Z-Wave compatible alarm panel was easy via the instructions and YES you can change Z-Wave parameters per dimmer (we turned off the green dimmer status indicator, changed ramp ON time to 1s, and set default value to full brightness vs last used level). Respond time is quick for the dimmer and installation in the electrical box is pretty easy. Some users complain about the new wire pigtails (vs terminal screws); coming from Lutron we were used to this so no complaints from me and the dimmer fits in âmostâ existing electrical boxes. We upgraded some 2- and 3-gang boxes to deep versions. Overall we are pleased with the Leviton dimmer (and switch) and would recommend it to anyone looking for a Z-Wave compatible dimmer.

Works with Home Assistant, Better than JASCO
Iâve gone through two GE JASCO fan controllers in just two years and decided to give this unit a try instead. It paired up to my Home Assistsnt instance without issue and extended well to my HomeLink bridge.I like the increased levels of fan speed and so far it works great with my setup. Hoping it lasts more than a year!

Worked great for 20 months-then failed and the replacement was DOA. Another one also failed.
The outlet failed to turn on after about 20 months of daily use. When it worked, it worked flawlessly.update: I did a factory reset and it started responding to the on-off switch and was able to be controlled by my Hubitat after it was registered to it. However, after it was removed from the hubitat it could not be added back. I am leaving it as 1 star because this happened. Additionally, when it was in the failed state it caused my entire z-wave network to be unstable (probably transmitting continuously). Since this is a wired-in device, fixing the network required removal of the ZW15R (I “fixed” it after it was removed). It is unlikely I will reinstall this device due to the damage to the network if it fails again when I am out of town.Second update:Leviton sent me a replacement. It was dead on arrival. There is a real problem with these. I have one working one installed, but because the failure can crash my z-wave network, I will be removing it and replacing it with a different device. Leviton is usually a good brand, but there is a significant design/QC problem with this outlet.third update:I returned both my original failed unit and the DOA replacement and told them I did not want a replacement since I do not trust them and would not install it. It was a $50 learning experience!4th update:The one remaining working outlet failed and could not be controlled via z-wave OR locally. Resetting the power (breaker off – on) returned it to operation. This is unacceptable!!! Three out of three failed. I will remove and discard this last one and go with plug-in devices like Minoston.

Works with Home Assistant and SmartThings
I’ve used a few different Zwave Fan controllers for my house and this is now my go to device. I’ve used Jasco/GE Fan Controller (58433) and the Homeseer (HS-FC209+) which both failed in under a year. I have two of these and they have been running with no issues for approximately 2 years now. I also love having a separate speed control on the switch which makes it so much easier to control the speed then pressing and holding the up or down paddle.I have integrated this into SmartThings and into Home Assistant with no issues. I can use my SmartThings, Home Assistant, or Google/Alexa to control the fan and the speed without touching the switch. My only gripe with the switch is the inability to control the lights on the switch. I would love to be able to reassign the speed indicator, which lights up green, with notifications such as garage door left open or back door left unlocked (Homeseer allowed this to be programmed). With the limited Zwave fan controllers I would buy this again if I need another one.

Installed easily on Hubitat
This switch replaces a GE/Jasco switch that died after a power flicker. Seems all my GE/Jasco switches are having this issue after a few years so I figured I would try the Leviton brand to see if it holds up any better. Time will tell, but the current rating is high because of several factors. The first is that this switch has pigtails rather than screw terminals. The stranded wires are much easier to tuck up inside the electrical box. I tinned my wire end to make the connections a little better but it isn’t necessary. The physical size of the switch is comparable to the GE/JASCO which is much larger than dumb switch so the pigtail leads are really a big positive. Pairing with my hub failed on the first try so I just did a full factory reset per the provided instructions and it paired right up. Not an uncommon problem with Z-Wave products. I think people return them after pairing for whatever reason and the reset fixes all the sins of the past. Anyway, worth mentioning that my Hubitat did not select the proper driver but that is not the switch’s fault. I changed the driver and everything worked well. The Hubitat built in driver only has 3 speeds but there are custom drivers out there if you want 4. I didn’t bother in this case, 3 speeds are fine. From the physical switch, I can still select all 4 speeds with the side rocker. I very much like the LED indicators that show the speed selected. The switches are easy for guests to operate and do not need any explanation. If this switch holds up to power flickering then Leviton will become a top choice for me in the future. If it fails, I will edit this review and reduce the rating. For the price of these switches, I expect them to last at least 10 years. I don’t think that is unreasonable. In summary, I like what I see so far. Time will have to prove the reliability.

About all there is to say.

This is not a stand alone unit. You will be on the hook to buy another device to get this working. Just be sure you realize this before buying.

Installation was fairly straightforward. Only issue I had and still donât understand is a warning from Smartthings that the connection was not as secure as it should be. I could not find the reasoning and left it as is. It however works perfectly.

I bought several of these modules for my security system and they work great. They came with clear programming instructions and were easy to set up. One of the devices I had didn’t function properly so I contacted Leviton Decora Smart and they sent me a replacement right away. In fact, I’m leaving this review to thank them for their terrific customer service!
