Versatile Mayan Super Food – Grow your own Mexican chia (Salvia hispanica) as an annual to perennial plant in your outdoor garden in Zones 8-12, or for growing microgreens or container gardens indoors if you live in a colder zone. This unique plant means “strength” in Mayan, and is prized as a useful medicinal herb, delicious green leafy sprouts, and tiny seeds, perfect for adding fiber and protein to smoothies, oats, and other snacks.
Fast Growing Plants – In USDA Zones 8-12, direct sow at a depth of 1/4″ at 65-75° F. Chia seeds germinate in 7-14 days. In full sun and warm weather, these annual plants can grow 3-5 feet tall and 2-3 feet tall in one growing season and often prolifically self-seeds. Although the plant grows quickly, chia requires 150-180 days to produce a full seed crop. Each packet contains approximately 2997 to 3663 seeds.
Sustainable Living – Gardening is an essential foundation of a more self-sufficient lifestyle. Home-grown chia is a highly versatile plant that’s worth adding to your homestead garden. Eat the sprouts as a microgreen or grow the plants as a medicinal herb and pseudo-grain crop include in your long-term food storage.
The Info You Need to Grow – The seeds are packed in a beautiful paper packet with instructions for successful growing and germination in your home garden. Each package also has instructions for saving seeds after harvest. Getting started is simple for both beginner and experienced gardeners.
Small American Family-Owned Business – We’re committed to always providing fresh, high-quality seeds for you to plant now or to store for future growing seasons. We pledge to sell only safe, non-hybrid non-GMO heirloom seeds that are always open-pollinated, untreated, and tested to ensure the best germination rates. They will remain viable for years if stored properly in a cool dry location.
