Great Base for the DSLR Cinema Conversion
Working on making training videos and content, wanted to convert our DSLR into a cinema rig. This frame/mount was a great choice to make it happen to add battery and other accessories. Lightweight, before all the weight is added, and so far has not had any issues coming loose through use.

An impressively solid camera attachment.
I have the PS016 model and this is a well-machined device. The parts operate smoothly and it comes with several options (see the photo for all the different parts.) I mounted it to my R7 and the V-mount battery was securely attached. It does add some weight and bulk to the camera but, if you need to keep a V-mount battery connected to your camera body, there aren’t many ways to keep it light. I have generally been satisfied with Neewer products and I count this as one I’m happy with. The price has come down since I ordered it so it is a better deal (it was $79.99 when I ordered but is $59.99 at the time of this review).

Good quality
The build quality of this is quite good, once tightened it doesn’t feel like pieces will move much. The v-mount isn’t the most secure, however it is more than sufficient for lighter rigs or less intensive use. It’s built from all metal, so it feels pretty sturdy yet fairly light too.

It works, but…
Overall for what this is, it feels overpriced. The arm that attaches to the very heavy V Mount battery is wobbly WITHOUT A BATTERY. Hopefully the V Mount won’t drop with the adapter still attached going handheld…but probably not. Do note, in the picture, it shows it attached to a gimbal…they’re demonstrating that you can swap this thing OFF the unit, put the camera on the gimbal, then have a separate adapter underneath the Gimbal, no way this thing folds the battery under the gimbal.I’d like it better if the battery arm were solid and didn’t wiggle as it’s a nice handheld option if you don’t want a railed mount.

Bring on versatility!
Iâve been using the NEEWER V Mount Battery Plate with NATO Rails for my RS4 Pro gimbal, and I couldnât be more impressed. This piece of equipment is solidly built and feels premium in hand. The modular V-mount design makes it incredibly versatile, giving me seamless transitions between handheld shots and gimbal use.The inclusion of a cold shoe with anti-off pins is a game changer. It ensures everything stays securely attached, and I love how it works with my NP-F battery plate without hassle. The Arca-type quick release plate is another standout feature, offering smooth and easy transitions between my gimbal and tripod setup. Itâs so convenient, especially for quick-moving shoots where I need stability and flexibility on the fly.Another great feature is the stretchable camera mount plate, which is adjustable and works perfectly with my camera setups, including the Nikon Z6ii. The two NATO rails allow me to attach the plate in vertical and horizontal directions, making sure I can fully articulate my cameraâs flip screen for different shot angles. This V-mount battery plate is a must-have for anyone using the RS4 Pro or similar gimbals. It makes capturing smooth footage and switching between handheld and tripod shots incredibly easy. Highly recommend for both professional use and for those who want a more efficient workflow!

A little pricy but fantastic
The Neewer V-Mount Battery Plate offers a practical solution for filmmakers and content creators seeking to extend their camera’s battery life. This plate is designed to securely mount V-mount or NFP Plate batteries to your camera setup, providing reliable power for extended shooting sessions.Compact and Portable: The plate’s foldable design allows for easy storage and transportation, making it ideal for on-the-go shooting.Durable Construction: The metal build ensures longevity and can withstand the rigors of professional use.Adjustable Rail System: The flexible rail system accommodates various battery sizes and camera configurations. For my Sony FX 3, though, it does not have enough clearance to fully swing the LCD open. You have to mount it with the LCD opened.Arca-Swiss Compatibility: The plate features an Arca-Swiss compatible quick-release plate, allowing for seamless integration into various camera rigs. My FX3 has a built in Arca Swiss base and I think manufactures are catching to this new trend. I could easily slide the camera with the cage on the battery plate. The V Mount is compatible with any V-Mount battery, and it comes with a little detachable V that you can mount to, say, an NFP plate making it possible to use an NFP battery with this mount. You DO NEED to purchase an NFP battery plate though. One thing I was somewhat disappointed is that while you have an arca Swiss plate at the bottom, the clearance is somewhat shallow so makes it difficult to attach this to other Arca Swiss devices such as the Neewer SR015 where you could use 15mm rails or even an Arca Swiss tripod. I was able to bypass this problem by attaching the included Arca Swiss plate onto the bottom, elevating the battery mount. It does make it quite tall and consequently a bit wobbly for tripod work, especially with a heavy battery on the back. I think this solution is more for a handheld situation and not for a catch all situation.Overall, the Neewer V-Mount Battery Plate is a solid choice for filmmakers and videographers who need a reliable and affordable way to power their camera gear. Its compact design, sturdy construction, and versatile features make it a valuable addition to any camera kit.

TL;DR – A discount V-mount plate, that for the most part is decent, but what are you missing out on?DISCLAIMER – This review sample was provided to me free of charge. The opinions expressed are solely my own with no input from either manufacturer or Amazon. So I’ve been a long time user of Neewer products. They offer a decent price to performance ratio, that tends to lean more towards value than quality, but that’s perfectly fine. If it get’s the job done, then I can live with a few sacrifices. This foldable bracket falls squarely into that category. Don’t get me wrong there’s a lot of things I like about this bracket, but when it comes to fit and finish, I can clearly tell it’s a Neewer product. On the surface, the build quality seems fine, but once you start using it you begin to notice certain things. For example, the V-Mount hinge even when tightened exhibits a degree of play that I find annoying. Does it have any impact on real world use? No. But it is an indicator of the quality of machining. To be honest, any part held together with the small hex screws are a tad wobbly, but again, not a deal breaker, it is what it is.The other thing is the quality of the tightening knobs. These work just fine, and they tighten up all the elements that need to be tightened; however, all of them if loosened too much will completely fall out, which in and of itself isn’t an issue, except when it’s on the arca swiss mount portion. Why not a captive screw mount? Even cheap arca swiss compatible tripods have this built in.The final thing I noticed was the unlock button for the arca swiss mount plate. This button, which requires you to press down instead of in to release the safety lock is far from a smooth operation. Rather, it catches quite nastily before it snaps open.None of these issues prevents this bracket from functioning as it should, but they do detract from the overall user experience. And that’s perfectly fine, if price is your primary focus when making this purchase. Personally, I am inclined to say that this bracket is a fairly good value proposition; however, my caveat is that I cannot speak for it’s long term reliability. So take this with a grain of salt. But as it is, I think it’s fine and in line with the quality one would expect from Neewer.Overall 3/5 and the reason is, I would not purchase this for myself and would likely opt for a higher end bracket to ensure a level of quality I’m comfortable with. But it is good enough, that if you’re on a budget you’d probably be fine with it.

This does exactly what you want it to, and holds the battery well. I no longer use this one and have switched to a full cage. But zero compalints.

The threads on the bottom Arca Swiss plate run parallel to the camera back, rather than the lens axis. So if you want to attach a standard Manfrotto plate, this can be only be attached with a single screw and works loose in minutes when filming anything that requires moving the camera. If you try to solve this by adding a female Arca Swiss mount to your Manfrotto plate using two screws, the Arca âreceiverâ will still have to be positioned in such a way that the locking screw will be situated either beneath the lens, or beneath the folding arm, both totally inaccessible. I just donât see how to securely attach a camera using this device to a video tripod. It seems to me that the bottom Arca Swiss plate needs to be rotated by 90 degrees to solve this problem and the current design leaves me baffled.

This is the second time Iâve used this item, and it broke. The quality is very poor, especially considering how expensive it is for such material.

There are a few mounts for V Mount batteries, this one is more adaptable, but really its down to individuals needs. I initially bought a cheaper model then found it had disadvantages for my set up, better to find someone who already has a rig with a similar set up , will save you money in the long run.
