This thing rocks!
I just upgraded to a new 4K projector and receiver and bought some 4K Blu Rays of my favorite films. IN the meantime, I ordered this NEUMI ATOM player, just to see what it could do. I loaded a 66.7 GB file of one of those movies onto a 3TB external hard drive, hooked up the hard drive and the Neumi to my receiver, and … oh, my! The picture and sound were absolutely beautiful. My go-to method of watching video is to stream it to my Roku with Plex Media Server. This Neumi player, however, works so much better, especially with those huge files. No buffering, no hiccups, no freezes … just solid 4K content! It loads quickly (almost immediately), plays every file format I have, and asks if you want to pick up where you left off if you stop the movie before it ends. This is all I want for Christmas this year! I can’t think of anything else I would rather have.

A simple media player that works very well!
I’ve been using a WD Live media player for many years. It had a lot of “bells and whistles” that this media player doesn’t have. While I did like the WD media player’s movie title cards and the information it provided for each video file, it took a long time for the player to load up. Also, the WD media player being 12-year-old does not play 4K content. So, now about this player… The Neumi Atom 4K Ultra is a basic player that loads up quickly and plays several media formats without issue. I am using a Sandisc 512GB flash drive that is recognized by the Atom 4K in NTFS file format. The file menu is basic, simply showing the titles listed in an easy-to-read format. The remote is very basic as well, but easy to use too. This Atom 4K Ultra unit is SMALL, smaller than a deck of cards, and won’t take up much space. While small, the build quality is solid.

Does what it says, works without any trouble at all.
I was a little doubtful about this product because of some of the negative reviews, but decided to try it out anyway. I needed something like this because although my Samsung TV is supposed to be able to play MP4 files off a USB stick, it doesn’t work too well, and sometimes just trashes (erases & reformats) the drive. And I desperately wanted to play some very precious old home movies stored as MP4, so this product looked like a viable option.I was expecting more difficulty than I had, tbh. I unpacked the item, read the instructions about updating the firmware, and followed them (after connecting to power & TV, obviously). Firmware update went without a hitch (make sure you’re downloading the right firmware!!). Then I plugged in a small USB stick with some test videos, and read the manual about the controls (for example, pause/resume using the OK button). Zero problems so far, and I hadn’t spent that much time on the whole thing. After that I was ready to roll. I was able to walk through my folder hierarchy, scroll through the file list, and play what I wanted. I set up the auto-resume in the settings (I think it’s the default), and adjusted the screen zoom to make sure the entire picture was in the frame. That was it.So based on my experience, I have no trouble recommending this product. Read the manuals carefully (they are pretty clear, despite the reviews that claim they’re not), and follow the instructions exactly (they’re not complicated). Enjoy your success. If for some reason you have trouble, even after doing everything by the book, it’s possible you got a bad one — it happens. I would suggest first trying out a replacement (since Amazon makes that super-easy) before concluding the product is bad.

Great product
I purchased this for my tiki bar, I wanted an active display behind a porthole window that I purchased on Amazon. So I got an old flatscreen computer monitor and attached this media player, placed the monitor behind the porthole, and put a few nautical mp3 video clips on an SD card and plugged it into the media player. I have it on a continuous loop with about 15 minutes of video so people sitting at the tiki bar are entertained. Much cheaper and easier than a DVD player.

Another photo viewer fails to make the grade
There are two very noticeable problems with this unit. The first is that there is no IR extension. If one is inclined to keep units out of sight, as I am, the remote won’t work. Even when it is in sight, the IR comes across as very weak, and won’t work from the other side of the room I am testing it on.The other problem is getting the photo to fill the screen. They have a ‘stretch’ option, but have implemented it poorly. The image looks bad. The better approach to doing this kind of operation is to have a non-linear stretch. The edges are stretched more than the center. This may also be done in conjunction with a slight trimming of the photo. It is not hard to do. My other failed unit appears to do this aspect well enough (but fails in other regards).Other issues are the primitive nature of photo selection. The one thing that does work is that the slideshow actually runs and keeps running (sad that we even have to state that as one of its positives, but the other unit didn’t)My quest to find any photo viewer that does a halfway decent job of a very obvious and technically simple task continues. I am not optimistic.

Works as advertised.
Handles mp4 files beautifully, even with high bit rate. There are some audio limitations regarding surround sound. None the less a great value.

My collection of videos, photos and music on an external hard drive going back many CODECS (decades)would not all play on my LG smart TV. I played them plugged into an ACE PC attached to the LG after buying the ACE PC in October 2020. Sadly, it died this month (March 2024) with no HDMI output – an apparently common fault. This little NEUMI atom 4K media player has stepped up to media player duties on my extensive mix of CODECS with aplomb. Amazingly, the ancient photos rescued from slides going back to the 1970s, videos to the 1990s, HD and 4K recent videos have been played better than ever seen before. the SLR-based old photos look like 4K on the LG TV. The 4K videos play smoothly and impressively. Viewed on a large projector screen the HD and 4K videos are impressive. The device does get hot after a few hours; I rest it on a thick metal plate; also the easy-to-set-up anduse remote works only if pointed at a fairly narrow angle to the device.
