This is a better quality matcha than what is used at Starbucks!
This product is better than the matcha powder mix used at Starbucks! Starbucks uses a 51% sugar mix with questionably sourced matcha/sencha making up the other 49%. It has no tea flavor as it’s basically just sweetened milk. If you’ve come to matcha through the Starbucks lens, this is NOT that product. It’s what you should be drinking instead! When I’ve tried to get matcha powder locally at the grocery store, I’ve not been able to find one that is the same quality as this in such a value size quantity. For size reference, I’m pretty sure this size bag could last one person 3mos even if they were drinking a matcha latte everyday. This matcha here packs a bolder flavor, a better boost of energy, and more mental clarity without the crash that you’d have from coffee. It is unsweetened, which gives you the freedom to make the final product (latte, smoothie, whatever) as sweet or unsweet as you like. The powder is ULTRA fine, and is about the consistency of powdered sugar. It dissolves wonderfully in a few ounces of the liquid of your choice (I prefer oatmilk), and it suspends very nicely and does not sink to the bottom when at rest for a few moments. All around highly recommend. Unless you’re Japanese and have had that real good stuff and would know the difference, this is probably good enough for most people.

Economical, convenient, delicious
I have been using this product for years now in a nutritious morning drink with fruit juice and yogurt. It is not bitter but adds a smooth matcha taste to the drink and to other recipes in which I try it. It blends in easily and does not have any off tastes that I can detect. Recommended for anyone who uses matcha as part of a regular diet.

Very good matcha
I have tried before Matcha teas that I bought directly from Japan and this one is up there with the best.Since is not written on the package or description that this is “ceremonial grade”, I was expecting a bit of bitterness or fishy flavor, but to my surprise there is none.I tried it even straight with just hot water and it tastes smooth, something that the majority of the Matcha teas do not, they always have a bit of bitter/weed flavor that makes them unpleasant to drink unless they are mixed with something.I had tried before their “culinary” grade Matcha and it was good but had all those flavor characteristic of most matcha, this version which is called “premium first harvest” is definitely better for just a small increase in price and much less pricey than other Matcha that are defined Ceremonial grade. Also, it mixes super well with water and lattes of various kind.

Worth the money
I’m inexperienced with matcha… Just wanted to order some good matcha, only to discover all of these obscure classifications and prices varrying wildly. Before this brand, I ordered ceremonial and also “culinary cafe” from the jade brand. Couldn’t really taste a significant difference, so I didn’t sweat purchasing this. There is a difference with this: the higher quality matchas did foam more when mixing and had slightly thicker consistency, and tasted a bit less grassy. This brand actually tastes fantastic, if you don’t mind a very subtle grassy but sweet flavor. The savory sweet flavor dominates in a good way; grassy is very much still nothing more than an afterthought. But – and a very significant but – it hardly foams after mixing. So, the viscosity of the liquid when mixed, although enjoyable, leaves something to be desired. That said, like a good salesman the seller points out that this mathca is unusual because of its concentration on being organic, even at the expense of whatever desirable flavor profile could be contributed by pesticides, lead, radiation etc. Perhaps this is an exaggeration… Nevertheless I take comfort in their emphasis on safety anyway. It’s definitely more affordable, being around $1 an ounce. Thanks for keeping other matcha brands honest…So I recommend the value absolutely. But it you want the best of the best, I just don’t know enough to give you a good answer.

Metals? No (updated)
Update: I really appreciate the seller reaching out to help with my concerns. I had Rebecca, she automatically gave me a refund and she even offered to give me something different to try. She was really helpful and made sure my concerns were heard.I have seen a lot of reviewers here claiming that matcha may metal or lead components in here but doing research shows that, âLike many powdered products for example wheat grass, it will cling to metal or plastic utensils most likely due to static electricity or just surface tension.â Matcha does not like stainless steel so stay away from mixing matcha in that. I just wanted to clarify in case anyone is concerned. With that aside, the color is indeed a dull pooey green and the flavors just not it for me. It does not taste good even after sweetened and with milk. I think it is pretty well priced but in return, the flavor just isnât that great.
