The Perky-Pet Grand Master Feeder features six feeding ports, a wide-mouth design and holds 48 fl oz of nectar. The Grand Master truly is the Granddaddy of them all. With its large capacity for nectar, hummingbirds from all over the neighborhood will be flocking at your house! The clear, shatter-proof plastic reservoir makes it easy to monitor nectar levels. The wide-mouth design allows for easy refilling and cleaning and unscrews easily from the feeder base for quick cleaning and filling. Remember to clean your feeder at least twice a week, more often in very warm climates or seasons.

Large size, just right for my hummers
I have been using Perky Pet Grand Master hummingbird feeders for about the last 15 years. In the summer, my hummingbirds usually empty two of these 48 ounce feeders each day and I usually hang out four of them at a time. My hummingbirds love their feed. There are several things that I like about the Grand Master. With so many hummingbirds to feed, smaller feeders are just not practical. The Grand Master is made of plastic, and is lighter than an equivalent size glass feeder. The feeder is very easy to clean. I love the wide mouth reservoir. I just put 2 cups of sugar in the reservoir, add warm water, stir and dissolve the sugar and put the base in place. I then hang it on a porch hook and enjoy watching the hummingbirds. My feeders usually last about 5 years, as the sun eventually cause hairline cracks in the reservoir plastic. However, my feeders get the full brunt of the sun all day throughout the summer. I suspect that if you put them in a shaded area they would last a lot longer.I highly recommend that you use the Perky Pet ant guards with your hummingbird feeders, if you are plagued with ants as am I. I have had a lot of honeybees coming to the feeders this summer. The hummingbirds are nervous around the bees, but they still manage to get plenty of feed. Call me crazy, but I like feeding both the hummingbirds and honeybees.

Why it appears to leak, but doesn’t really
I’m just now ordering my fifth one of this feeder. I’ve had at least eight different feeders in the last couple of years. Every time I have to replace a feeder I buy one of these because it’s by far the easiest to clean, the birds like it best, it holds a lot so I don’t have to refill so often, and it’s much harder to break than glass. The reason so many reviews complain about it leaking is because people don’t seem to realize that the entire feeder can come apart for cleaning. This means that when it arrives the bottom often isn’t completely snapped in place. All you have to do is push the bottom upward until it clicks in place and you can see no openings. Notice that the perches also need to be clicked in place. It’s really easy once you take a look at it. One more thing, do not add food coloring to your nectar. It’s unnecessary and hurts the birds. You don’t need hummingbird food either. Just mix one cup of sugar with 4 cups of water in a very clean container and stir thoroughly until all the sugar has dissolved. You do not need to boil the water. I clean my feeders once a week in hot soapy water, making sure to rinse thoroughly so there’s not even a tiny bit of soap anywhere. I have dozens and dozens of birds of five different species visiting this feeder.

Great feeder but delicate when shipping
I love this feeder because of the large volume. The hummers love it and it doesn’t leak, is easy to fill and clean. The only issue I’ve had was with the actual shipping. I’ve ordered 3 from Amazon. The first was completely smashed in transit and had pieces that were missing because they were not in the box. The feeder was thrown in, unwrapped with several other heavy items in an oversized box, resulting in the plastic feeder to be broken. Amazon was great about the return, however, it was inconvenient to have to take it into a UPS store in order to do that. The second feeder arrived in perfect condition and was properly packaged, no issues. The 3rd however, did arrive with one of the perches broken but I just repaired because I didn’t want to go through all the hassle of returning again. None of this had anything to do with the actual quality of the feeder. Just wanted to give information about what could possibly happen in shipping. The feeders are the best Iv’e had, and I’ve had several. The only improvement would be if the actual tube was glass vs. thin lightweight plastic for better durability. However, I realize that they are manufactured that way due to the weight of glass vs plastic for stability when hanging. But I’ve had no problems, and my hummers love them. Will definitely be buying more, but probably locally if possible, to prevent the shipping issues and return hassle.

I have about 50 hummingbirds overwintering here in Victoria BC and smaller feeders were being emptied twice a day. These last almost two days!

Great spacious hummingbirds feeder. I washed it carefully and did not drop it, but I found a crack down the entire vessel. Maybe it was partially cracked when I received it and didn’t notice. Have to go back to small size.
