    Bird magnet!
LOVE this feeder, and so do the birds! Within an hour of hanging this feeder the birds were on it. I mixed black oil sunflower seed and peanut chips. The top and bottom twist of easily making it very easy to fill, and to clean. Chickadees, tufted titmouse, carolina wrens, house finches, american goldfinches, downy woodpeckers are frequent visitors to this feeder. The bottom tray is big enough that birds like the cardinal and mourning dove can perch and eat too. I read all the reviews before purchasing this feeder. Some complain that the seed all falls through and they give this feeder a bad rating, yet no one mentions what kind of seed they used. This feeder is advertised as a sunflower seed feeder, it says it holds “black oil sunflower seeds”. Use the seed it’s intended for and you wont have that problem. Some complain that the piece that holds the ring to hang the feeder came off. That piece appears sturdy on my feeder and it’s hanging up without any problems. But, I also just got the feeder so time will tell. If any problems should arise I will update my review. As far as squirrels, I use a baffle on my feeder pole so squirrels never get to my hanging bird feeders. I also put seeds & peanuts on the ground for the squirrels which keeps them happy…they need to eat too 😃

Super durable and easy to open and clean
I’ve had this bird feeder for 3 years. 3 years of constant squirrel attack, it must have hit the ground 2 dozen times now. The feeder looks a mess, all bent up and bulged out, BUT I put my foot on the bottom part and pull and bend it back to almost normal… and it still works great. The birds don’t seem to care that it’s a little Leaning Tower looking.I’ve had a lot of bird feeders and most are broken after one fall to the ground, this perky pet feeder is a survivor, is easily bent back into shape and easy to tighten back up if you have a pair of pliers and just a bit of mechanical aptitude.

Mesh too small – birds can’t get seed out
Very poorly thought out design. Not only can’t the birds get the sunflower seeds out, but the top of the feeder is so bulky that it’s impossible to hang the feeder without buying additional pieces, such as a large S-hook, but then it swings so violently in the wind that you have to put it really high so it doesn’t hit someone and knock them out. The feeder is very heavy empty, and extremely heavy full, which further limits what you can hang it on. I am using standard Pennington brand black sunflower seeds. I haven’t seen any smaller sunflower seeds to try. I thought maybe thistle seed would work in it, but the mesh is too large for that. So into the trash it goes.

    Ideal Feeder For Most Birds
This feeder is sturdy, medium-sized, and easy to open, fill, and clean. Most birds that come to feeders like black oil sunflower seed, plus this accommodates both clinging and sitting birds (although not large ones, such as mourning doves). It’s just about the perfect feeder, and I plan to get more as I upgrade my older tube feeders.

The birds love it – although so do the squirrels
The birds love it – although so do the squirrels… Looks great in the yard and the transaction was great.Edited 4/27/18: Having solved the squirrel problem (baffle; taller pole), we’ve loved this feeder. However, this morning I found it on the ground – because the hanging loop detached from the top, having rusted through. We’ve had this feeder for barely six months – it is clearly intended to be exposed to the elements so it’s surprising and disappointing to find that the hardware hasn’t stood up to ordinary use. I will likely find a work-around to re-hang it – because the birds really do love it – but I do feel it should have held up in its original condition for at least a little longer!

    Finches new go-to feeder!
I buy most of my feeders from Amazon, and each one is better than the last. This one did disappoint, either me or the finches! Not only is it larger, both in height and width, but the bottom tray is a bit wider so the new fledglings can more easily eat. I was going to say I don’t have to fill it as often but they eat from this one more than any of the others so…now I just sit and enjoy watching them fight to see how many can fit and who is going to get there first! I’ll definitely be buying more of these!
