    Works great
Bought this because I bought an atlas ultra wifi camera and wanted it on it own network. I have since returned the atlas camera due to outside weather issues. Kept this for my other POE cameras. Way better then Arlo system and more secure as everything is stored locally and not out in the cloud. The NVR has a few functions that you don’t get with normal camera like highlighting object that it detected and event alarms so you can just look at the detection and not scroll the video.

Home Hub for cameras and recordin
The initial setup is straightforward, although more detailed instructions would be beneficial. I encountered some difficulties with viewing saved recordings, but this was resolved after Reolink support provided an updated firmware. Overall, this product is a worthwhile investment, particularly if you have Reolink cameras and lack their NVR.

    Easy to set up
I have had a lot of set up/connection problems with certain Reolink “cameras” in the past, but this Home Hub sets up with a Cat5 cable connected to your internet router which makes connecting this Hub and connecting your existing cameras to the Hub – EASY. The only problem that I think exist is the POOR instructions that come with the Hub. You have to grope thru the Hub “settings” to figure out how to get to the existing cameras and connect them to the Hub. AND you have to go thru all your existing cameras and re-set alarms, lights, and maybe other settings (turn off continuous recording) you had for individual cameras. This hub also booted off one of my older cameras because that camera’s data program was outdated, and when I tried to update the program, Reolink says that I already have the latest program available – so that camera (MP5 from 2023) is worthless. All my complaining aside, so far, I think this is a really great Hub that will do just about everything a homeowner will need if Reolink can make some dependable cameras for a change.

NOT PRESENTLY COMPATIBLE WITH HOME ASSISTANT 2025.1.2 DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME
Hundred large for a doorbell camera that’s a disappointment because it needs a $300 DVR to work with Home Assistant. Get the DVR and… no worky. Just get this error. People rave about Reolink in the HA forums but this experience has been 💩.Channel-settings: Error decoding response to text: ‘utf-8’ codec can’t decode byte 0xff in position 8640: invalid start byte, from commands [‘GetEnc’, ‘GetRtspUrl’, ‘GetChnTypeInfo’, ‘GetMdState’, ‘GetAiState’, ‘GetEvents’, ‘GetIsp’, ‘GetWhiteLed’, ‘GetIrLights’, ‘GetAudioCfg’, ‘GetManualRec’, ‘GetDeviceAudioCfg’, ‘GetOsd’, ‘GetAudioFileList’, ‘GetDingDongList’, ‘GetWebHook’, ‘GetPowerLed’, ‘GetBuzzerAlarmV20’, ‘GetEmailV20’, ‘GetPushV20’, ‘GetFtpV20’, ‘GetRecV20’, ‘GetAudioAlarmV20’, ‘GetMdAlarm’, ‘GetPerformance’, ‘GetStateLight’], content type ‘text/html’, charset ‘None’

    Great solution for home monitoring
I should’ve done this earlier. This base station manages up to 24 cameras, which can also be set for continuous 24×7 recording. The base station is surprisingly large. It’s a large tower. The front has a single power button with a light ring. The back has an HDMI port, a WAN and LAN Ethernet ports, two USB, an optional MicroSD slot and power connector. The power is a standard 12V barrel connector and comes with its power brick and cable. It also comes with a single Ethernet cable and a sealed Toshiba 3.5″ drive (2 TB Capacity). To install it, one has to first put the drive into the caddy on the back, with six screws (included, with some extra), connect the power and the WAN port to one LAN port on the home router. The station also provides its own Wi-Fi network to the cameras. It’s Wi-Fi 6 and has both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz frequencies. Initial setup is via a phone app, which was very simple if everything comes up right.Reolink focuses on commercial and build-your-own home security. This unit is very similar to the commercial ones but in a home form factor that can be set up easily from the Reolink phone app. While this is a Chinese company, it’s very privacy-focused. If all one wants is local recording with not internet connection, once the station is working, it can be isolated from the internet, and the main reason I got this brand is that they’re a highly popular choice for custom IoT developments, and there is no requirement for any cloud subscription, and everything is recorded locally on this box.My first camera is a Reolink Lumus Pro, which is a new 4K camera with WiFi6. Added it through the Reolink phone app and connected it directly to the hub’s own WiFi, and the camera itself is not accessible directly, so the hub is the single point of access for all the cameras. When connecting wired cameras, one has to use the LAN port on the hub.The app doesn’t need registration to work, however once the app is paired with the hub, it can be accessed remotely.Because this is geared towards end users, it also offers Alexa and Google Home integrations. For this, one has to create a Reolink account, and after that one can add the Reolink skill to Alexa, which works well with both the app and our Echo devices. For Google Home, one cannot see the stream directly from the Home App, but it works from Nest and Chromecast screens. However, for many people using this brand, the star feature is the ability to use custom integrations, and it shines in this aspect: It offers the industry standard protocols in networked cameras like RTMP and RTSP video streams, with ONVIF notifications (Movement, person, vehicle and animal notifications depending on the camera installed, as this is handled directly by the cameras). In my case, I use Home Assistant for all the complex automations and Apple Home (HomeKit) for access to everything from our phones. Home Assistant detected the hub and associated camera, and add all sort of controls for them. The camera behind the hub integrated without a hitch. For Apple Home, although I could perfectly use the Reolink app, I want an integrated view, and other family members can also access it without the need to install another app, so I installed Scrypted also, and following well documented instructions, added the Reolink and HomeKit plugin and it works flawlessly. I can get views much faster than with other cameras, see it from our AppleTVs and so on.It’s a fantastic system for both home automation enthusiasts and people that just want it to work. All the thousands of forum comments and praises confirm it.

The Reolink Home Hub Pro works as a storage device for your security cameras. It is able to work with both wired and wireless cameras. In addition to standalone cameras, you are able to connect video doorbells. Your connected devices can be easily monitored once they are connected to the hub. There is 2 TB of space included and you are able to expand the storage space up to 16TB by swapping the hard drive out with a larger one. You can even add a microSD card as a storage option as well. The hub is very light, when you pick it up you may be surprised at the weight expecting it to be much heavier than it actually is.In addition to storage of your video content, the hub is capable of sending notifications based on the alarms you configure. There is also an audible siren that can be set to go off during certain events. The device is modern looking and comes in all white. There is a round button at the front of the unit that lights up and pressing this button will allow you to silence any ongoing alarms. On the back of the unit you will find a speaker, a WAN port, a LAN port, a reset button, a micro SD card slot, hard drive slot, two USB ports, an HDMI output port, and the power DC input. This hub is powered using a 12V DC power supply which is included. When you open the hard drive slot you will have a plastic tray to use to mount your hard drive. There are pads at the bottom of the device to prevent it from sliding around your desktop. The unit is capable of using encryption to keep the contents of your drives secure. You are able to share access with friends and family and are able to add 10 additional accounts beyond the standard administrator user. This hub is able to connect using the Wi-Fi 6 protocol in order to achieve a strong connection and high data transfer speeds. You have a small booklet included which will provide some basic operational instructions. Apart from the booklet and the Home Hub Pro unit itself, you have a power adapter, flat ethernet cable, hard drive, screws and a needle for resets included. The hard drive is a Toshiba 2 TB drive and is meant for use in surveillance equipment since it has a 128MiB cache buffer and can support up to 32 high-definition camera streams. The drive comes sealed in an anti-static bag for protection. The Reolink Home Hub Pro is the best way to manage your Reolink devices in a central way from inside your own home, without the need for costly monthly cloud subscriptions. It can work without the need for an internet connection and uses your local network instead of internet bandwidth. You are able to maintain the control over your own recording data so that you know it is remaining private.

  8. Vine Review

This Reolink Home Hub Pro is an excellent solution for onsite storage of my home’s security camera and video doorbell footage. It can also serve as the video doorbell’s chime, and as a very loud 120dB alarm siren as well.Currently, I have it connected to 1 video doorbell, and 5 security cameras. In my setup, I had perviously setup the video doorbell and the video security cameras. I got this Home Hub Pro later, and setup was a breeze, and I could easily connect the previously setup cameras to the hub. Moving forward, I can configure the hub to automatically add any Reollink cameras that I add to my system.Using the mobile app on my Android phone or the Windows client on my laptop, I could easily access the live video feeds and the recorded videos. However, there’s a 2 to 3 second of delay in accessing the live video feed when connecting from the mobile app or the Windows client to the Home Hub. It’s not a big deal though as it’s fairly typical of most home-based systems.Included with the Home Hub Pro is a 2TB hard drive that’s also expandable to 16TB, which is more than sufficient for home use. In addition, you can also add microSD card to boost the storage. There’s also an option to encrypt the video data on the drives.

This is an excellent home security hub for Reolink cameras. It gives you a cloud-like functionality without having to subscribe to a cloud service. It’s designed specifically for Reolink cameras, they can be wired or wireless and it will support up to 16 cameras. It comes with a 2TB drive but as your needs grow you can replace it with a larger drive, up to 16TB is supported.I tested it with my Reolink Wi-Fi doorbell camera. This hub will create its own Wi-Fi network and store your camera’s video data, so no need to have SD cards in each of your cameras. This means you won’t lose your video if your camera gets stolen. It gives you a central location to manage and view all your Reolink cameras and their recorded videos. You can access it via client software available for iOS, Android, Mac or Windows. You can even enable web access, but at the time of this review, it does not have all the features of the dedicated clients. The setup process was well-documented and easy to follow. The software is just as well-written and straightforward to use.As an added bonus, if you’re a Home Assistant user, it has excellent integration.I really like this hub; it’s featureful and gives me cloud-like services without having to store my private videos in the cloud and without the subscription fees. I’m so impressed with Reolink that I will be purchasing more of their cameras to replace my existing security cameras.
