Recommend to use it 2-3 times per week for adult cat, one stick per time. The reaction after feed usually lasts between 5-30 minutes. If the stick is too small, replace it with a new one to avoid the risk of choking.

great for rough chewers, but be careful
These sticks are very useful! One of my cats has always been a biter/gnawer. She is extremely rough on any cardboard boxes lying around and loves to chew on anything she can. I started giving her these sticks as a distraction whenever I notice her chewing on something I don’t want, and she usually goes for it. The sticks are around 6-7 inches long and are very lightweight. My other cat is also attracted to their smell, and neither of my cats usually is affected by catnip, so this might be a good alternative if you have picky kitties like mine :)Two things to be aware of:1: The sticks will break and splinter with extended rough use. I was trying to sleep one night and heard cracking noises, turned on the lights and saw that my 8 month old kitten had bit the stick so hard that it broke into separate pieces. The structure of the sticks is long fibers, so if the cat bites hard enough it will flatten out with different pieces at the edge. Not a big deal, just prepare another stick and switch it out. Be sure to swap the sticks quickly if you notice that they’re broken for the safety of your cat. The “splinters” are pretty large so they aren’t really dangerous for humans living in the same areas.2: The bark needs to be scraped off before giving to the cats. I’m not sure if the bark is safe for cats to ingest, but regardless it is flaky and will be swallowed if not removed, so I imagine that could cause issues. I just use the sharp edge of some scissors like a knife and carve it off over a trash can. The bark comes off pretty easily, so it’s not a terrible inconvenience. I think my cats like the smell of it right after it has been stripped, so it immediately gets played with once I give it to them.3: The sticks are pretty small, so they will get lost easily under furniture or appliances. Depending on their shape, they might also easily roll around on hard surfaces, which could make for an excellent chasing toy or a safety hazard for people possibly slipping on them. Thankfully they are very lightly colored once you strip the bark, so they should stand out against a typical hardwood floor.Overall, I have been very satisfied with these sticks and will be repurchasing once I run out.

Do it! My kitties went nuts for this stuff
Its always a gamble whether or not your kitty will like the toy, or the box the toy came in better. But let me tell you, I opened up these bad boys (built up the suspense of what was inside by shaking it around as I would with treats) and let my cats have a sniff and they were very intrigued at the start. A good sign!I had to give each one their own stick because my black cat immediately claimed the one I had put down, munching and gnawing on it just like a dog with a bone! Soon 2/3 cats were rolling on the ground, gnawing and playing! It is such a hit! My third cat needed a little help to understand that she can chew on it, but she got the hang of it.The product doesn’t have a smell upon opening and they don’t shed too badly, either (unless you break them apart like I ended up doing). The kitties seemed to get their jollies in, an effect similar to catnip, and I love that it has dental properties (of course, I cannot confirm that, but I do hope that part is true). Though like catnip, they lost interest once they stripped the bark. Then I snapped it in half to release the scent some more and they went back at it.It doesn’t keep your cat busy all day like a dog would be with a big bone, but it did provide my kitties with over an hour of fun and they are all fat n happy afterwards 🙂 I will be keeping these on hand from now on!

    Just not for us
I’ve read that silvervine has the same effect as catnip for some cats. Not mine. No fault of the product. But I was hoping the stick would be attractive to my cat regardless because she loves chewing on pens and pencils. This doesn’t appeal to her for some reason.

pleased the cats… for a while; catnip still rules
This silvervine sticks package was exactly as described, well packaged, easy to use. My cat and a family members cat were quite interested, and played like kittens, for 20 to 30 minutes each. And that was it, never touched again. I was hoping for a more enduring appreciation; I don’t want to provide new sticks every day, they are a bit pricey for that (or I’m a bit cheap). I grow catnip in the summer, and keep some of the tough stems for play; my cat will play with those just as willingly as the silvervine sticks. He campaigns for fresh (dried) catnip daily. Not so much for fresh silvervine. One thing, I would prefer to have a 10″ or so stick, because my cat likes to hold onto sticks and toys with back feet and front paws to attack and chew, and the 4-1/2″ length doesn’t allow him to do that easily. Despite my general disappointment, I would probably try a longer stick, if it were available. I think it might be better if it were just a little thicker diameter, but not a deal breaker. The silvervine has a good density for chewing; I have not seen any shards or other concerning remnants to worry about. There is a very thin papery bark that has not been any problem; if it is coming off, he has eaten it, but I have not seen any evidence of that, on the floor or by the cat’s behavior (coughing, spitting) nor any evidence in the litterbox. All in all, this may be a delight to some cats, and some may enjoy more than catnip. For the cats I know, it was a novelty of only moderate interest, and does not enthrall as much as catnip. I would still be interested in longer and possibly heftier silvervine sticks, for the gnawing and chewing benefit. But I am unlikely to purchase this same item again.

My cat loves these but I do have to shave off the bark with a veggie peeler. The bark flakes off really easily and I don’t want a choking hazard. He plays with the sticks more so than chewing but it’s entertaining for him.
