UPDATE: I got an email from the company to clarify my original attempt to connect thus device (3 prong plug) to Alexa. Turns out, I just needed to do an extra step to search for the individual plugs, not just the unit. Problem solved! 5 stars!I did considerable reading before buying several smartplugs. I didn’t want to spend $$$$ so I went with this brand because it seemed to be a sweet spot for price and quality. Having setup a house full if theses, here’s what I learned:Great plugsEasy to set upEasy to connect to AlexaIn a few hours I had all the plugs (4 individual plugs and a power strip) set up with routines for auto timers, several voice commands, and to turn off most light when I leave home with my phone. Easy peas – and I’m not super “techie.”The ONE WARNING about the 3 plug socket is that the 3 plugs cannot work by voice command INDEPENDENTLY. The 4 plug strip does, but this does not. I had two and tried both, it’s not a defect, each plug doesn’t work independently thru Alexa.I think the clue was there’s only 1 master On/Off – unlike the strip which has 4.Thus 3 prong plug WILL let you set each plug on individual timers, control by phone separately, and the whole switch will turn on/off with Alexa.Smart plugs are only as smart as we are. I think this one would be appropriate for a TV/Cable box/speaker combination where you want everything ON or everything OFF at the same time. For my purposes, I wanted independent voice control of each switch. So, I’m returning and getting the strip.Hope this helps you.

Hello,We started using one of these with our Air Conditioner and was able to find the type of: NEMA 15/20 socket converters that switch the horizontal outlet (3) prong to a vertical outlet (3) prong, you need (2) of these (1) for the wall plate outlet, and (1) for the POWRUI vertical (3) prong adapter socket.And found that the Apps work differently:1. Amazon Alexa APP: The Best APP is: Amazon Alexa; Amazon Alexa allows you to turn auto timer set on/off to the entire POWRUI A/C Adapter that is basically all (3) sockets at once and also all the USB Adapters.Also Amazon Alexa; allows more than (30) controllable set auto set timers for each socket, meaning you can auto set time the the entire Unit and/or individual sockets from the (3) at all times and all intervals for (24) hours a day, everyday, constantly.2. Smart Life APP; is not so good: Smart Life; allows you to only auto set time the sockets, NOT the entire POWRUI A/C adapter unit all at once.Also, they only allow (30) controllable set auto timer intervals meaning the sockets can run out of time to place them on on/off auto set timer controls and may not be able to run Smart WiFi controls the entire (24) hours a day.Also, Smart Life does not feature voice commands, voice recognition or any form of Voice ID of any type for AI (Artificial Intelligence) purposes for the device.3. Google Home APP; has not form of auto set timers at all, we do think there is a voice command, feature as they do advertise the “Google Assistant” as there form of AI (Artificial Intelligence) but we did use Google Home at all, as it is not comprehensive with set auto timers.

I purchased six and couldn’t be happier.Pros:Each individual outlet can be controlledCustomized names for individual outlets as well as the unit itselfCan be controlled via voice using Alexa or GoogleTimers can be set via the app or with Alexa/GoogleCan somewhat limit who has permission to control the outletThere are four USB outlets for direct powering of devicesApp is fairly easy to useConverts the standard outlet with two receptacles to fourAlleviates the need to have the USB power adaptor for at least four devices (more if you use a splitter)Cons:The manner in which the outlets are displayed in Alexa is a bit confusing at first.Although the directions state that one can use either Home+ or just Home, I couldnt get it to connect without using Home+USB outlets cannot be individually controlledWill not work on 5Ghz Wi-FiDoesn’t work with any of the SmartHome platforms such as Wink, SmartThings, Vera, etcThe receptacles are close together, so oversized plugs will take additional receptaclesNo indicator to provide visual that receptacle is onIve had my outlets for about five mths now. Versatile smart plug
I liked this smart plug so much that I ended up buying 2 more. I have other styles of smart plugs all over my house and find that they are either too awkward (round shaped & block other outlets) or too long with more outlets than I need per area (smart power strips). This one is just right & is a lot more versatile. I usually find I need about 3 smart plugs per outlet in most of my rooms to accommodate lamps, speakers or other electronic devices. Plus this one gives you non-smart USB ports for phone charging or other devices that need to stay on full time (like a Firestick).This is a great value for what you get compared to other smart plugs. The integration with Alexa is excellent & I never have any problems operating my devices through the original app, Alexa app or through my routines.
