How to Connect My Smart Plug?

The Smart Plug was extremely easy to hook up to my internet service and my lamps. I like the fact that I can turn on and off the bedroom lamps without getting out of bed. I like being able to schedule the lights to turn on and off when I am away from home.

Solid performance
I was glad that these, unlike many others, connect easily to 5G wireless routing. I’m not sure why so many can’t do that, but these could and so it was nice to be able to hook them up quickly. My wife has a curling iron that doesn’t turn off automatically, so this will definitely be a way to give her peace of mind when we leave home as it can be set to turn off after a certain amount of time. Only wish they had a feature that let you set up a constant amount of time once it’s plugged in as she’ll always be setting it to the same amount of time every time and that would make things even easier for her. Still, when plugged in, you can set it to cycle on and off repeatedly along with the timer function I mentioned, so I’ll use the other one in another room when we go on vacation. Much easier than some of the mechanical timers I’ve used in the past.

One of the few 5Ghz options out there, and super simple to install
My internet provider recently upgraded me to a new router, which is technically a much better model, but the new model operates on a ‘random’ 2.4 or 5 Ghz frequency. According to my provider, it ‘automatically detects when to switch between the 2.4 and 5’. I find this somewhat interesting, as I always believed the difference between the two is that 2.4 is slower speed but much better range, 5 is super fast, but shorter distance. How on earth is the router going to know when I need to switch between those two? I have a relatively large property , I’m not a real high-speed junky and therefore prefer 2.4, so I can connect devices at a bigger distance. But maybe it will all work in the end. Problem I have though… is that most of my smart plugs are only capable of working on the 2.4 bandwidth. And as the default preferred mode of the new router seems to be 5Ghz, I simply cannot connect them anymore, as there is no way to ‘fix’ the bandwidth anymore.This is where these ‘Eightree Smart Plug for 5GHz & 2.4GH’ come in. After a bit of research, I learned that a lot of ‘similar’ (and cheaper!) plugs don’t actually use WiFi, but Bluetooth. Which is great for short distances. But average bluetooth range is somewhere around 33 feet. Not a lot, especially if you factor in walls and other obstructions. And certainly not enough for my situation. So if you’re looking for a true WiFi option, there’s just not that many options out there, unless you want to invest serious money.But these plugs are true Wifi, can handle both 2.4 and 5 Ghz and are really not that expensive.One more selling point: ease of installation. Wow. Really wow. Maybe it’s because I already had the Smart Life app installed (and am very familiar with how it works). But all I had to do:1) Plug in the smart plug into an outlet2) Open up the Smart Life app3) Confirm the new device. The app and plug automatically recognized each other without any interaction from me.Love these plugs. Defo recco to buy.Now I just would love for 5Ghz to extend its range!! Come on clever folks out there, you can do this! 🙂
