The SmartPlug Combo Kit includes both a 50A 125V/250V inlet connector and a retro-fit connector. This Kit has been designed so it can be used with 3-wires (125V) or 4-wires (250V). The retro-fit connector is designed to use your current cord set. You simply cut off the cord plug on your RV/Boat cord. The connector has mechanical cord restraint, color-coded wire guides, and a water-resistant cord seal. The inlets are available in stainless steel and three non-metallic colors, (White, Black or Gray), of high performance/flame resistant material. Increased pin and clip surface area greatly improves electrical conductivity during high amperage demand. No twist required, the unique plug body shape and push-in design mean it only goes in the right way every time – even in the dark! Side clips and inlet cover lock the plug body securely into the inlet which eliminates any stress on the electrical components by the movement of the power cord. Multi-fin silicone gaskets installed in the inlet cover and the plug body eliminates moisture penetration. Inlet mounting flange holes match twist-type holes for an installation that is typically finished in 30 minutes.

Best connection for shore power for RV
I’ve been an RV enthusiast for over 25 years. This by far is the best invention I have ever seen and used for an RV. This should be what all RVs are installed with from the factory. The quality of the assembly and safety far exceeds what the industry currently uses. Way easier to attach the SmartPlug than to struggle to twist lock the factory connection, not to mention a better safer connection. I would recommend this product to anyone that owns an RV. Easy installation and great instructions. Makes for a much more secure connection.

Worth the money
This really is a superior product to the traditional connector / base design. It’s easy to plug and unplug, the contacts are huge, and the installation is super-easy. Considering that old, corroded contacts cause fires, I highly recommend this kit as a safety upgrade for any older RV or Marine application.

I ordered this for my 5th wheel when I saw how cheaply made the factory twist lock 50amp plug was. This Smart plug is excellent quality. Its very obvious how it connects and works better. The hardest part of the install is cutting the twist lock male end off the cable. I highly recommend the Smart Plug.

Updated old RV and baggage door pssg
Old 50 amp cord was routed through hole in baggage door and this caused a water leak. This new plug did away with that! Installed a new door and no more leaks. The plug does not come with the 4 needed mounting screws into rv. Had to reorder this item as Amazon lost the first order !!

Surprisingly easy to install.
Even though I took my time, this was very easy and quick to do. I’m a coward when it comes to cutting off pieces and such but this was a simple and worthwhile change to relieve my concerns about a poorly secured standard RV power cord causing a melted plug or worse.

Beware- potential safety issue.
Seemed well made. However set screws for tightening wires into permanently installed receptical were exposed. In my installation this would have been a serious safety issue. Returned and handled perfectly by Amazon.
